^_^ it is a tactic I am trying out. Big numbers on the screen attract people's eyes.
I think maybe someone who is truly interested in the shield will try to bargain for it in any case, and regardless of whether I put 100k or 100 ecto on there, I will sell it for some "minimum" amount I have in mind, which is probably around 150k.

Yeah it takes me a little while to sell stuff usually because not only do I try to get as much as I can for it, but I also don't really spam non-stop. I take very huge breaks in which I chat with folks or do something else or maybe not even play GW o.O
But sure these shields are possible to acquire at prices below that they *can* sell for; there's not point in "bragging" about that. I have made 600% profit on many an item. It's not a big deal nor does it mean that items bought cheap can't be sold for much more to the interested and wealthy buyer.
Plus with this particular shield I wasn't planning on buying it to try and make a profit. I wouldn't do that and offer over 100k for it to begin with. I simply ended up with it because the person I wanted to give it to turned out not to need it. But, I don't feel like losing money on the item, which means I can't sell it for what a much larger audience is willing to pay.
The higher you ask for an item, the smaller your potential market. It's a truism, and it also means it takes longer to find a willing buyer in that potential market. But that is not to say that you can not. I expect that during the weekend there will many more players on line, and that is probably when I will get rid of this shield.
