What's With People Selling Guild Halls?
Willow
I've seen a rash of people trying to sell their guilds (with Guildhalls) in places like Ascalon.
So what's going on with this?
Are prices of Sigils dropping, making selling Guilds to people in Ascalon a sound financial strategy?
Or is it just the newest scam?

Others are just out of order and selling their guilds along with their guild mates for some cash..
If you found out your guild leader was selling you and your guild off for profit... why would you stay with them?

Sigil prices aren't stable at all, they are pretty much at an all time low. 60-70k a couple months back and slowly dropping to where its at now. I think its around 26k.

I sold my guild, why? because it only became my guild because everyone left (either because they quit guild wars or joined a different guild). I dont want to be guild leader, so why shouldnt I make some money and help someone else get a guild for the fraction of the cost of starting a new one?

Because of issues in the parent clan we had to form a new guild and unload the old one. No one would buy it, even for under 10K. It was finally abandoned. I remember we paid 80K for the sigil back in May, so that was quite a waste.
Not all guild sales are scams.

ive bought and sold a couple, some people are scammers some arent. thing about this deal is you could get scammed easilly. when i was selling one once someone tried to scam me. he was all "hurry up and make me leader" and i was like (he had already been invited and made officer) "sure just gimme the money". got an open trade window with no money, left it open for a minute, the guy left the guild, the hall, and put his status to offline with the quickness.
also, with all the people leaving the game over the last patch (sour grapes) i wouldnt be supprized if you could find quite a few guilds being sold.

Personally, I wouldn't want somebody else's "child", and I would prefer disbanding my guild over selling it and possibly seeing its name being dishonored.

Well .... got my guild when former leader decided he didn't have time anymore and promoted me from officer. Spent several months building guild, selecting competent officers and recruiting good members (and booting a few rotten apples). No way would I sell it. If i were to leave the game I would give it to one of the officers.

I've always had a problem with this, no matter the reasoning behind the sale.
Few of the reasons I've seen given here
1. I was the only one left because everyone else quit.
Ok, so you didnt buy the guild, you didnt buy the hall, does it really matter what happens to it if you dont want it? Just drop and let the guild fade.
2. Had to drop one guild to make way for another.
Oh? Darn. If you really dont care about your guild and only the money you put into it, you really shouldnt be in one to begin with.
This is one of the stupidest practices in GW. A Guild (with a hall) is supposed to be a symbol of a proficient and powerful group. Not being sold off to the highest bidder. And for anyone who is still in the guild as its being sold, well that would just make me feel like crap. I'm glad I'm just a piece of Platinum to my leader.

One way to overcome this problem is to implement a requirement for a minimum number of members. You must have X number of members before you can aquire a guild hall, and you lose the guild hall if membership drops below that number.

i wouldnt trust this if it was offered to me. I'm sure many are doing it legit, but whats to stop someone inviting you to the guild, you give them the money and then... what no guild leader? omg i was booted!
would be easy...
would be easy...

Ok heres the deal. I want to sell my guild hall. Im not posting this as a sale. I need your help as my fellow GW players in telling me if what i am going to do is right and or fair.
1. I started my own guild strictly for people who play PvE.
2. The guild played 1 GvG match with out my permission. None since then.
and ya we got our butts kicked.
3. I am currently merging with a friends guild and have been tranfering all of my members over to his. One of my officers and myself will go last.
4. I do want to sell the hall. It is the asian one. I don't remeber the name, but i dont know after reading all of your posts if this is going to be cool.
I am an older player. 37 to be exact. I am not about to scam anynone and I do not want to be scammed. How do I do this? Should I do this?
Ps. If I have violated any forum rules please forgive me. I am fairly new at the forum thing.

the only thing I can say is advertise for selling a guild with a hall. People know exactly what they're getting and hopefully you won't get hoarded by noobs asking what a hall is or anything--to save confusion. But yeah, say guild with hall, thats what i did.
