I would go for the 4:1 +5 always
But if you have another 5k to spare then you can buy a Grip of Defense +5 and buy the 5:1

i think you have those backwards. in my expierences with a ranger, the composite arch and the flatbow shoots flatter.

Then you have mislabeled your bows...

Flatbow= high arc

I'd pick the flatbow, everytime. I pretty much always use a flatbow. The 5:1 is a sweet string, the flatbow fires faster (2 seconds rather than 2.4) and the higher arc is easily compensated for with Read the Wind or Favourable Winds.
