How to get to Crystal Desert?

Hi I tried searching the forums but I can't seem to find anything about getting to the desert. The main reason I wanna go there is to get a pet dune lizard. I'm tired of wolves, cats and birds. At the moment, I'm stuck at Lion's Arch. Is there anyway I can run there, or what missions do I have to do? Is there anyone who can help me in the game or in here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah do the missions, the desert is the last area before ascension.. continue on with the story line is the only way i know of to get there (tried to make that informative and spoiler free.. hope it worked >.<)

Hiya there, thanks for the reply. I don't know what/where the ascension is though. Still kinda new to this game. I'm just tired of looking at my cat all the time whenever I play this game. I don't like bears. I prefer lizards.
So if anybody wanna do some mission together from LA to Crystal Desert, please let me know. It's just so lonely to solo. Anyhow thanks again!

You have to fionish the Sanctum Cay mission to get to the Crystal Desert.
But I strongly suggest you, that you do the missions in order, because of an important twist in the story. So from LA -> D'Alessio Seabord -> Divinity Coast -> The Wilds -> Bloodstone Fen -> Aurora Glade -> Riverside Provice -> Sanctum Cay -> Crytal Desert.
