Difference btw pve and pvp character
nimloth32
what is the difference btw pve and pvp (premade) character? Is there any advantage of pve character over pvp character? Is it advisable for me to just create a pvp character and gain skills using factions rather than going through quests and missions (pve)?
Damien
IMO its best to make a pve character first, both to unlock the some skills to start with and to learn the game better.

The Difference is clear. PVP can only PVP; no PVE is allowed with a PVP-Only character <Like, whoa!> and seriously you can benefit from a PVE character because you unlock runes/skills and things for PVP characters if <and only IF> you decide to make one in the long run. The only "Really" good reason for making a PVP char, imho, is so you don't have explore in PVE to find all the arenas to fight in, and your char is already max level. But that's about it. I've never made a Pvp-only, as I pvp on my PVE chars. It works alot better when you have the game's skills unlocked for you to make different builds, not just pre-selected ones for a "quick" start into PVP that you'd only get from a PVP-char.
Hope this helped.

If you get good with the template builds, you can earn faction to unlock stuff to make your own customized pvp character.
I would still go though PvE. Faction is generally better spent on unlocking weapons mods / and runes and using PvE to unlock the skills. You will unlock much faster, 2/3 of all skills are avaiable from quests alone.

Is it possible to change the PvP gear of a PvP character without deleting and recreating him?

At the time, I don't think so. But you can use his faction to unlock new things, delete him, and remake with new unlockables. What's the hesitation though? PVP chars are deleteable and remakeable without much a fuss <or a time sink> So just explore different comboes.

One can go everywhere, the other can only go in PvP areas.
One starts out going through the "Player vs Environment" game, the other is instantly level 20 and made for competition.
One can use unlocked items and skills, the other must use those available to him through PvE.
PvP character is easier... Because when you're in it for PvP, you don't want to be bothered with going through the terribly boring PvE experience a bajillion times.

one thing about unlocking items in pve that people overlook....
not only do you have to unlock the item mod, but to get the max mod unlocked, you have to find and unlock the max version.
And if you already unlocked the item in pve and it isn't a max mod, you can't upgrade it with faction to get the max version for pvp.
Let's say you unlock a staff wrapping of warding, +5 armor (7 being the max) in pve. Until you unlock a +6 or +7 you are stuck with a +5 max for a pvp char.
