Of course it'll give purple, what was the base color? I've dyed my all my 15k armor, including scar patterns <both for monk and nec> and I can tell you they both work. On scar patterns, dye doesn't "overwrite" the current dye, it adds to the "base" color. Same with chaos axes. Dying a chaos axe a different color adds to it's base color <A shiny blue>
It just takes a little know-how, that's all.
