I know many people have been asking Anet for guild storage, but recently the Frog has said he thought it wasnt such a good idea because of stealing (I assume he meant guild hoppers and the like). Well I ahve an idea that could solve this problem.

First off, the basics. The whole point of Guild Storage (for me at least) is to be able to 1) have extra storage 2) be able to share things with guildies that are good but you might not have any need of them. So, thinking of this, I have thought of a basic system of anti-theft Guild Storage. For your account, you will get 5-10 empty boxes for your items that you would liek to give away. Below these 5-10 boxes you can see everyone elses 5-10 boxex of storage. Since many guilds have 20+ members, there will of course be a scroller because it wont all fit on one screen. The members names would be in alphabetical order.

Now the anti-theft part. Each box would have its own password, or "lock". The owner of the items selects a password out of a certain amount of digits/letters (maybe 4?). So this is how it would work: Your guildie goes to the Guild hall and checks the storage to see if there is anything he/she might need. He/she sees a gold longbow that he/she would like to use for his newly ascended ranger. He whispers you asking if he can have it. You trust the guildie, and so you give him teh password to that box only and he has access to it. Simple, and with no stealing.

What if the owner forgets his own password? He wont have to because he has access to it normal storage. Another nice feature would be if you could put something up indicating whether you want to give the item away or jsut have it in the guild storage for normal storage.

What do you think?

I like it - but what would you do about common items that would be more useful if everybody consolodated them (ie materials)?

Very good idea. But perhaps you would have to wait for two weeks to prevent guild hoppers from going in and taking all thats there. Any time period, and the guild could set it.

For example: New person joins.

New person has to wait two weeks to be able to acess the guild storage OR the leaders and officers could give them authority to use it.

forget the password crap.

guild storage is simply a bigger version of your regular storage only available through your guild hall

someone can look at what you have (optional ) without touching and a trade can be made in person in the hall as a regular simple trade.

you go up to the guild storage box the same as the town storage box.

and it opens for only your account same as regular storage

skip being fancy go with something that already works

That's a really good idea, you put a "flag"on the items in your storage so others can either use those items direcly or start a trade with you, I think both options should be there.

I think I would be happy if we just had an enlarged storage bin. It is very annoying to have to spread materials and dyes across several characters because your vault is full of upgrades or weapons.

methinks have one big box. split into two.

Section one: Assigned items (i.e. oh member x wanted a Yakslapper and I just found one. I'll leave it for him)
Put your item in
A drop down menu appears, listing all the members
Choose the member
Now only that member (with any char) can take it out of the guild storage.

Section two: for all members (i.e. my god! I have a lot of wood planks! Maybe some guild ranger would like it)
Put it in. Thats it.
However, to take it out, you would have to have been a member for a month. Stops guild hopping. If a newer member needs something then one of the older members can get it out and give it to them IF they trust that person.

keep it simple

use the guild forum for who wants/needs what and who is willing to give/share/trade for it.

one simple box that will open for only that member when they go up to it like the regular storage.

Here Here for larger storage. I actually think that is at the heart of all the whole "guild storage" requests when you get right down to it anyway

considering different items of all types they may just give us the same as regular storage of 20 guild storage slots.

i would like 30, 40, or 50 but i dont think so.

SEPARATE IDEA

also with chapter 2 we will have more goodies to store and am wondering if we will have a completely new chapter 2 storage or a larger all purpose storage (regular not guild) for ch. 1/2)
