Ok, while I'm always going to spend the 8 seconds it takes to ressurect a party member in a PvP match, I'm starting to wonder if I'm wasting my resources on party members who die too often.
I've only played Mo\Ne, so I dunno what the other classes do to keep themselves in shape, but some players just go down like a sack of crap. Once I can understand, as they may have been rushed by the other group, but when I have to ressurect the same person 3-4 times in a match I start to wonder whether it's worth it. Invariably we loose in those situations, and I end up thinking I would have served the rest of the party better by letting the noob stay dead.
I know it sound harsh, but I'm really wondering is wether this would be the better 'tactical' decision, or do u think having an active living noob is better than having 3 v 4, but with a monk who can actually share the love?
To Rez or Not to Rez?

Fair question.
Normally I'd always say Res. It's a game of numbers and having more alive people on your side is a winner, even if they are just target practice.
Saying that, I have been in fights where a player is obviously a waste of space.
Examples:
1) Doors open, 3 people follow the plan to go right, call targets etc. 1 Player charges across the water on his own, no healing, no warning and is dead before we even know whats going on. - No way I am running over there to heal him. If he is lucky I will find time and mana to res later.
2) Crazy low level people in arena matches. Just because the arena says 1-10 or 1-15 or 1-20 does not mean you are going to be of great help unless your fairly high level. Lev 3,4 players in arena 1-10 are not worth ressing. If they are going to be of any use to the party then they need to run interfearence, do minor heals, hex, res sig someone etc. If they die then they are out unless very lucky.
What scares me most is when players enter PvP without any method to Res at all!!!

Primary monks should never really be rezing. You're there to keep people alive, not help them when they're dead. In the 8 seconds it takes you to rez, you could have healed for 1000+ health. Not to mention the fact that you've got mesmers all over you, and they're going to start laughing when they see a res pop up as your active skill. They'll be able to sit there and contemplate which way they'd most like to kill you. Leave rezing to secondarys.
As for rezing noobs, they'll never learn much face first in the dirt, and you can always use them to try and stuff up enemy pathing

W/Mo is an excellent rezer. With their higher armor value, even if they are getting beats on...they will still take much less damage.
Me/Mo is another popular rez variant. With fast casting, you can cast rez in about 5 seconds...which leaves the rezzer less open to interrupts.

I guess as a secondary monk, i always make it my duty to rez.
A lot of people think that the game comes with a hug and unfortunately, monks play mommy. So if they die, mommy neglected them and if theres no secondary monk, mommy has to make it all better :P
Rezzing makes you extremely vulnerable, i only do it after casting troll ungent (as a R/Mo) which gives me +8 hp regen while i rez, so dont feel obligated to do it til its just you, their corpse, and everyone else is safe.

You just have to time it. Find a point when everyone is in the clear for a bit so you have time to res. If everyone is taking damage then don't res. Also make sure your not in the middle of the map, ya it's easy to see when a monk is ressurecting someone.

Well this topic seems to be going more towards when to res rather than if to res. So to follow up on that:
Yup! Ressing is a dangerous business. Res Sig is fast but only 1 use. Res spells take way too long.
I do have a prime monk as one of my PvP characters. In that build I actually manage enough space to take both Res-Sig and a Res Spell. Why you ask?
In the early battle, if both teams are skilled and evenly matched, a prime monk will never have time to cast Res spells. If you do you are probably neglecting other team mates that need you more and you will just swap 1 dead person for another and just give everyone death penalty.
But you can't leave party members down in the early fight. Your a team and you need numbers and the complementary skills they bring to the fight. As a prime monk I find I can often dump two very large regens on key members and hit my Res-Sig on a dead player. (If everyone else is obviously busy). A res-sig is fast and bring the dead player back on Full health and Full Mana.
That can swing a battle in your favour very fast.
Why do I bother taking Res-Spell?
In the mid to end game you can often get into a catch-me-if-you-can scenario. Your team is winning but it's tentative. The other team is running around a lot and trying to find a chance to sig-res or res their fallen members. You probably have some pets chasing and 1 other member running around doing there bit.
At these times I would use that Res spell to bring back numbers asap.
When battles get into this chase-me stage and all teams are low on numbers then you can quickly loose if they regain people before you do.
