How should i recruit new members

me and my friends are starting a newguild, but we have no idea on how to getpeople to come any thoughts anyone!!!!!

Whatever you do, don't sit in a town spamming 'nu gld lkng 4 mbrs whsp me'.

That won't get you anywhere. What I'd suggest you do is either post on these forums, or whenever you get a PUG, if you find some of your team-mates nice people, ask them if they want to join your Guild. You never know...

hey if you find a magical way to recrute members let me know! spamming in Ascalon works if you want newbies (although it is also uber annoying) but actually finding a good friendly PUG that is willing to leave their guild... hardly ever.

heh maybe just leave a char hanging around in pre-sear. Any newbies who say in local chat 'new, need help' offer to team with them and take them out, show them the ropes... then casually drop in "well if you're looking for a guild I've just started one..."

Our best way has been not to recruit at all.

I've said it before here on this forum: Do missions and quests together with guildmates as often as possible, and bring in randoms to fill out the party. The biggest draw to someone who is dissatisfied with their present guild, is to see 2-3 capes doing things together. We have hardly EVER asked anyone to be in the guild; they usually ask for the invite.

Over the six months or so of the guild's existence, we have grown to around 50 members with usually 12-15 on in the evenings (at least when I'm on I can see that many).

Usually if you gain members in this manner, you have already partied with them, see if they work well as a team, if they communicate well, if they will fit in.

If they do ask to join you, make sure they know what your guild is all about. It helps if YOU know what your guild is all about too... (eg primarily PvE, GvG, Tombs, etc).

it really all depends on what kind of guild you are, if you are a pvp guild only then go to tombs district 1 and start spamming and possibly showing off your rank. But if your pve, then i would either go to ascalon, droks, or lions arch, tons and tons of people there. gl

Unless your at a minimum rank 6 I wouldn't suggest spamming your rank all over the place looking for people. *IF* you are a pvp guild try joingin snother guild untill you can earn enough rank/crediibilty to go out on your own. It's very hard to start a pvp only guild without being well known as a pvp'r. Of course if your a pve guild disregard everything I;ve just said

I have my own opinion about this.
I have started my own guild too.
Made my own website, forum, saved my own money for the cape and guildhall and now I am lvl 19 W/Mo and not started recruiting.
Why ?
Because I didnt do ALL missions and quests there are.
I wanna be lvl 20 with nearly ALL normal skills and did all questes and mission.
Why ?
So I can help new members on the way that it doesnt matter what lvl they are to give advise on quests, missions and help people with it.
I hate to say as a lvl 19 to some who is lvl 20 and need help to get in sorrows furnace : "no srry, I didnt get there yet"
Dont think that you get a good reputation on that way as a "guild leader"

Cyron, I had the same problem, kind of. I had spent so much time helping guildies through lower-level and ascension missions, that it took me a long time to do anything past Droknar's. We had a guildie who claimed he was stuck at Iron Mines of Moladune and won't anyone help him. Well, honey, first off, tell me again where and what that is??

I have finished the game with 3 characters now, 2 are at Ember/Ring of Fire, 1 back at Riverside. BUT, still have not found the time to attempt any of the Titan quests, cause I'm still needed at Gates of Kryta or Thirsty River sometimes. Meh, I guess it comes with the territory.

I was forgiven for not knowing about Iron Mines, because our guild is so nice, no one thought the less of me. But, good for you - get as much done as you can before you are needed at Gates of Kryta 3 nights in a row!

spam in towns. it works, trust me. ive joined over 30 guilds like that.

Never spam, read boards and look for people, you can not post on here to recruit. The guild i am apart of, the officers will read boards and look for people that we feel will fit.

As to getting new people its pretty hard, At this point in the game most the good players are in guilds, and anyone that will change from their guild to another will leave ur guild after a while to join another. I had a guild, then merged with other guilds, and even that no good, Finally joined a well established guild.

Easiest way is to just play around, anytime you find someone you like that you play with, ask them if they're interested, if so invite them. Also word of mouth works well, as in friends of friends, so that you can have a tight knit guild along with eliminating the quick join & leave sensation of some people.

eh i have hte same problem but once in a while one of my current guild members friends or siblings wants to join and thats pretty cool......i got a person in my guild who has 2 siblings playing the game and that ROX.....they are really good as a team since they know each other in rl and can prob talk to each other and they are all content with the guild.

I dunno my guild has the opposite problems at the moment. We're trying to nicely tell people to f**k off and find a different guild to join.

ok, here is my advice on recruiting quality members, who are less lightly to leave your guild and consist of members you actually want!

Actions speak louder than words!!!!

simply take a few of your members to missions that you have all done and know how to do very well!

leave space for one or two non-guild members, and then look for people looking for a team!.. once you have completly owned that level the new peeps are usually in awe and are already thinking hmm.. good guild..

then ask them simple questions... where are you from?.. how big is your guild? do you like pvp? how old are you... this part is SO important because it gives you some idea about if you even want this person in your guild!! remember these are real people you must make friends before they will consider an invitation.

Then, flattery works best....

"hey your really good, we could use a good member like you... are you looking for a new guild?"

take note... are you looking for a NEW guild?

Whatever you do.. do NOT be-little the guild they are in!.. do NOT give them loads of speil about how good your guild is either!.. no-one likes show offs or arrogance, and people will instantly go on the defensive if you slag their guild off (even slightly)

rather.. lead by example, and simple show them the benefits of your guild.

Also, humour them.. they are still new, and probably eager to advance quickly.. but throw a bit of humour in makes people laugh.. people like to laugh and is the quickest way to make a friend.

now here is the most important part....

BACK-UP!

you must follow through and actually deliver!.. doesnt matter if you have website, forums teamspeak or whatever!.. if you dont pay attention to your new members and look after them they start to feel conned.. isolated..

"oh it isnt as good a guild as I thought, im just.. another member"

another reason why you must work hard once you have these members is because they have something called FRIENDS! xD..

"Hello friend, yea I joined this guild, its more fun that the other one.. and they helped me loads! and its such a laff"

Running a guild is hard work..keeping your members happy is even harder and can sometimes seem not worth it.. but stick at it, and be consistent..

one day you will log and you will find many many members on-line, these members will be helping each other, and your officers will be recruiting on there own.... and all will be fun - all you have to do is lead by example.

This advice will help fill out your guild with members.. but if you want to go serious pvp guild, then a slightly different strategy is needed because you are looking for a particular type of guildwars player.

GREAT advice! My guild is mostly made of my clan from UT04. We dont 'need' to recruit since we have about 20 people from there. Every once in a while I get a request to join and I test them out to see if they would fit. One thing I tell them is that we are not PvP-centric, but we PvP. There's a difference. We don't require you to be online. We are a group of older gamers that like Guild Wars, so please no immaturity.

We had a serious problem with our guild regarding non-active members, which, after due notice on the web site, were kicked.

We then decided to have a recruitment drive, mainly me, and have recruited around 30 new members in the past 2-3 weeks. This was achieved by ‘spamming’ in Ascalon and the surrounding area’s.

I think the way you present yourself in the description of your guild whilst ‘spamming’ is vital. Sure, we have recruited mostly lower level player, but a few level 20’s as well.

Now with well over 50 active members the guild is working as it should, with the lower level players teaming up for quests and missions and the more ‘senior’ members helping as and when required.

We had the odd ‘give me 1k’ joiners, but as yet no leavers.
