I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but as a relatively new player, I do not have the 100,000 gold that some have. Now, I know that gold really doesn't matter a whole lot, and I've pretty much decided I'll never afford FoW armor or anything.
But in order for the New Expansion to be more... competitive, why not start with a new currency in the new region? This would accomplish two things:
1. It would put new players more on equal footing with older players, so within a week of the release, there's not people running around with the new 15k armor.
2. It would give older players something new to strive for.
If people really object to this, there could be an exchange rate (gold sink), so that your gold would still buy stuff, just not as much as in the local currency.
If you agree with this, feel free to suggest a new currency name while you're at it!

It would make sense that this new land would have its own currency.
You would start like you did in Pre-searing, a limited number of "Yen" and have to save up.
Essentially, it really would be a "New Game."
Hot Dead
why would you want a "new game", why not GW with "new stuff"?

nice thought but not a chance.
many cheap to expensive items will exist in both chapters.
ecto, rubys, steel,the whole list.
buy 500 rare material x in chapter 1 and take it with you from one of the common areas to chapter 2 area and sell 500 rare material x for 1000k yen/yang/whatever.
wealth will carry over or most people would simply say no thanks i had my fun and i will not start over.
this is the second chapter of a continuing story so forget it
