To be honest with you, you can't be blood and go necro primary. If you do, you won't kill a mob quick enough before you run out of energy. I would go Ele primary necro secondary. You will find you are able to better spam some blood stuff, plus if you do sacs you will find that the energy storage aura of restoration skill mitigates alot of that damage pretty effectively.

Ummm... I don't have a problem with it and I play a blood necro. Course, I'm Necro/Monk, so I don't need the aura of restoration thingy. A few life siphons keep my health up while I solo, if charged I plant a symbol of wrath and begin sucking life from people. It is getting harder now that I am further in the game, I find my life siphon alone isn't enough to tank with, so I picked up Well of Blood, once I drop a guy I can step into the well and it adds a nice 4 pips to my healing rate, so with 2 life siphons and the 4 pips I'm laughing. It's a fine class so far, and I can fall back on healing if I need to play a more defensive role.
Early in the game you'll be able to take on anything just Life Siphoning a few targets. Later you can't do this as well, but then again when you are out in a group you aren't expected to tank everything. Start fights in which you may take damage by landing life siphons on non priority targets, then start unloading your big damage spells on higher priority targets. If you know you are safe you can lay straight in with attacks. I don't like spamming Dark Pact unless I know I am safe enough to do so, but starting with Dark Pact, Shadow Strike, Dark Pact, Vampiric gaze is really safe, you do good damage and don't end up down any life. Soloing I tend to not use the Dark Pact at all, and instead I pull a few smiting spells in and use only life stealing attacks from blood.

Blood necro is a dish best served as a secondary.

I play a necro/mes with focus in blood/curses. while it is true that you don't have many AoE's you can life siphon, vampiric gaze, vampiric touch, well of blood(or power if you can find it and capture it) to stay alive, and then there is suffering which adds degen to a group of enemies, and there is shadow of fear to slow them down, and various other spells to help. I mean no your not a elem, but if everyone was an elem the game wouldn't be fun.

Well, since Blood Magic isn't the best for a Necro primary...would a Death/Soul Reaping/Fire be good?

I play a mes / necro - at level 10 I use necro for the blood magic - later on I may get more into curses. I love it so far. Had a blast at the 10 and under arena.

I'm making a necro primary that concentrates in blood magic and see nothing wrong with it so far. Why do you guys think it is so pathetic? There are some awesome spells in the blood line... Yeah I use soul reaping too and have found it to be very beneficial. What other build can have a lvl 18 attribute almost 100% of the time?
