Your Memorable GW moments! With stories.

Well, I must say, after 4 hours of LFG at tombs because most people thing a W/Mo is useless there <Iway isn't just for W/R's, and a IWAY/Purge tank does good there>, I just got sick an tired of people only accepting R3+ IWAY and whatnot, so I formed a restrictionless group..and my god it was fun. We sat there for about 3 hours just back and forth, chatting the night away while having fun in the PVP down there.
Granted, since we weren't well organised, we didn't make it past the first round. But this still didn't stop me from making some long term friends. We played the night away, chatting about things from sports to the weather and back again. I'll always remember my random PUG I made for tombs...
Which brings me to my point..what are YOUR memorable stories? I'm sure we all have one...

We have a section on our guild's forum for this subject. I love reading the antics of our members and randoms in the game. I'll post the story here, that I posted there just today:
So, I coerced some folks from an allied guild into the 4v4 Team Arena the other night. It was their first times, I think, so we were learning as we went; for inexperienced folks as we, winning at all in Teams is a big accomplishment.
Ana (healer), Yalani (air spiker), Gryphon (mes), Alotta (war)
I'll set the scene:
Tough fight on Amnoon map. Alotta was down, Gryphon was down, no more rezes available. One warrior left alive on other team. He would periodically switch between Ana and Yalani for his target. Of course, as he switched, so did the target of healing, so he wasn't getting anywhere as far as damage. (This warrior beating on us had nothing going for him. No interrupts, no knockdowns, no Flurry or Battle Rage or IWAY ... I don't know what he was going for to be honest!)
We're all chitchatting over TS, and this warrior is taunting over and over: "hahahahaha" "you can't kill me" "give up now"--all the while, Yalani is building up exhausted energy store and we're both wanding him while we wait. Then....
BAM! ZAP! KABLOOIE!
Warrior is down so fast.
From the other team: "Noooooooo"
What makes me laugh, is only that that warrior for some inconceivable reason, didn't see it coming, and keep his mouth shut awaiting the inevitable.

One of my best was not so long ago when I was doing D'Alessio Seaboard. I got a PUG and they seemed like nice enough people [probably because they were all female bar myself and one other]. Anyway, we were doing the mission and chatting to each other, and generally we were having a good time - cracking jokes and the like. Them when we killed a mob somone said 'Sector clear'. So I responded with 'roger that'.
It turned out we all played Counter Strike and for the rest of the mission we kept saying stuff that the bots say. One of the ele's for example initiated meteor storm against a mob, but not before shouting 'Fire in the hole'. I would target a mob and say 'Enemy spotted'.
It was a right good laugh and I got a few more people on my friends list.

Alexandria Kotov
I've finished the story with more than one character, and I never really enjoyed the Jungle, so I skipped it. Went to ToA, grabbed henchmen, and headed south to skip to the desert (For those of you who don't know, it's a simple way to get to the desert without paying for runners).
This new character is Natalya Kotov, a pretty little thing with dead eyes who has infinites space in her heart for her babies (Bone fiends and horrors) and no real tolerance for anyone who stands in her way of acquiring new babies, even if that means the necessary demise of someone else. Walking from ToA to D'Alessio is easy as a minion master, and my army was just marching contentedly along with no real problems.
Now, because I only had Henchmen, no real heal spells, and no interest in my Henchmen after they got me a few initial kills to start my army, I had the Party screen closed (Press P). And it occurred to me that Alesia must have been updated, because she was healing my life lost to Sac spells when not in combat, something Alesia only does if you bump a full third of your life off.
This is where my true stupidity shines.
I finally make it to the mission town with my 8/6 party members, and head to the merchant before doing the mission with my henchmen, my shortcut to Amnoon Oasis all but complete... when Alesia messages me in team chat, asking if we were doing the mission too.
Some of you probably guessed it by now.
A level 15 Monk with a name starting with A was standing in the henchmen when I was selecting them in ToA, and she clicked accept to my accidental invite, riding my henchmen and minion train to a free run to the desert.
...I probably should have guessed when my monk wasn't tanking up there with my horror's that it wasn't Alesia.

couple of nights back, i got an invite into a PUG to farm in sorrows (i was happy cuz I'm a ranger.. ) it was 6 man pt with tank being a pro farmer (only one in pt who knew what the heck to do once we get into the furnace ) 2 monks, and 2 nukers.
i brought barrage and some interrupts... and 2 traps (don't ask, it was like 2 in the morning)... so off we went! the usual shwags dropped from grenth's foot.. some blues/purples no greens... stone summit badge WOOT!
once inside the furnace... the tank disconnected
but what the heck.. we decided to try a couple before rezoning to the camp
this was where my half-assed traps actually WORKED (didn't even have QZ or serpent) with monks and eles who knew what they were doing but none of us had any idea where to go inside furnace so we wondered around killing batches of monsters (slowly but it worked)
in the later parts, both eles had 60%DP and monks with fair amount but we ended up killing a fair amount of "hard to reach" bosses and could've possible cleared the way things were going but it was around 4am i think and we were getting sleepy
even tho only 1 green dropped, everyone was having a ball and now i'm convinced furnace can be done without a tank (before i wasn't because everyone in war camp was looking for a tank)
that was the best time i've ever had playing GW up till now

Well I have several moments that stick in my mind and all are related to taking my Monk (completed game/SF quests/Def quests etc) to RoF mission to help others out and hope for a drop or other high end missions.
In this one it was RoF and all appeared to have no exp with doing the mission - 3 tanks, 2 eles, 1 Nec, 2 Mo. So I lead them to where you get the bonus, had to repeatedly explain that standing in the seal circles drained casters energy.....futile I tell you.....and to let the person with bow pull things out of the seals....THEN have tanks engage.
Well we get past the cutscene where the Vizier(bastard) suggests we NOT go thru the front door, but rather around the volcano. Since I'd never done it that way I was willing to follow the majority vote - I explained to them how many times I'd done the mission and front door was always the way to go. Well we get around to where all the lava spitters/lava imps are and the eles are getting to close and getting dropped, I'm CAP screaming - UMM HELLOOOO YOU CAN MOVE YA KNOW - all for not. Well there I am (only one alive, 2 dropped at this point 1 tank 1 ele)....on two occasions the Nec in dying was somehow transported 1/2 across the map and in this cases was behind enemy lines (5 Imps in the way) and the rest of the party was being danced on by those same imps. I asked everyone to be patient and that each member I rebirthed needed to be ready to BOLT the minute they were up. Slowly but surely I got everyone out of there and the Imps dead, but now the other monk dropped because she had 60DP and didn't think we'd finish.
The remaining 5 were retracing our steps to the front door to give it a go - well 4 because the last ele went afk (we later learned he'd gone to shower and eat?? wtf?). So there I am with two Tanks, a Nec and lil ole me heading back to the front door. I explain to them the plan - pull mursaat and jades out from seal, take em down then regen and take seals. It got hairy and I mean REALLY hairy as I was almost dead twice thanks to the freakin eles + spec agony but we had ONE stout Paladin who was able to stay upright and throw a breeze my way. We take down both seals, then the door seals and slowly get the patrolling mursaat/jades to come out and play before approaching the first two inner seals. As we're taking down the first inner seal the ele comes back.....where the f have you been we ask.....his answer we've covered ;-). We get the first seal down as his green dot comes into view.
We end up taking next seal down, complete bonus and mission. This isn't a story of how great I was or anything - but I'd set myself to a task of helping these people and took it personal to get them through. We all know how miserable pugs can be and how thankless a job monking can be for ignorant players.........the remaining 4 were anything but that. No quit in them and they were most appreciative of my assistance. I wish then that I'd friendlisted them as they are the type of players (with the exception of Mr. Clean :P) we all would want to play with.

Numa Pompilius
My most memorable moment is clearly my first PUG. It was truly horrendously bad, with a mad rusher low-level Wamo, a wannabe leader competing with the leader (and neither of them knew the way), and none of us knew the objectives.
It was sheer mayhem and chaos. Pure Benny Hill.
I've never laughed so much while playing GW either before or after. Half the time I could hardly target enemies because I was laughing so hard. Everytime I thought that "now I've seen it all", someone surprised me. But it was newbie chaos, not n00b chaos - it never got nasty and abusive, just... confused.
We did however have a good elementalist and an absolutely solid monk, and they pretty much carried us through, so even though three dropped out in disgust & desperation, four of us (including the mad rusher) actually finished the mission.
By far the *worst PUG I've been in, and the funniest.
* Performance-wise worst, anyway. The least enjoyable PUG I've been in was in Thirsty River with my healer monk. We got through on first attempt, but people were bitching and moaning and picking on eachother and just taking all the fun out of it.

So far, my memorable moments are :
Moment 1
Mishap with black dye...it's memorable because it's kinda stupid.
I was over the moon when I got 3 black dyes, from monster drops, while doing a simple pre-searing quest. When I got to Post-Searing and found a Xunlai Agent, I wanted to unload some stuff into storage. I was tidying my inventory, transferring stuff between my belt pouch and backpack. Too tired to pay any attention whatsoever - rather than drag-and-drop...yup, I accidently double-clicked the black dye and clicked the backpack...Oooops! Me have a black backpack now. Could have made at least 6000g from selling it. I'm reminded of this mishap everytime I go into my inventory.
Moment 2
First experience of PvP when going to Post-Searing.
Doors opened and our team stepped through the doors. I was with another new player and we were chatting to each other - mainly about what the hell was going on and what are we were suppose to do. Neither of us paid attention to the guy talking. In the distance, we see this group running towards us. The closer they got, the more worried we got. The moment they started to attack, all hell broke loose due to sheer panic. I remember running around like a headless chicken, not knowing what to do. We were unorganised and unprepared...pointing & clicking everything and anything we could. Apart from that, the whole fight was just a blur. To this day, I still have no idea how we won this fight.
New player and I decided to team up again to get our other character to Post-Searing, and have a go at that PvP part again.
This time when the doors opened, we stormed in ready for an all out brawl (both of us were warriors this time). It was abit of an anti-climax when we found ourselves face-to-face with a single ranger. We started a team chat about why he was on his own and where his team were. Our conversation was cut short when lone ranger shot us with a fire arrow. So we went over, mobbed him and killed him. When he got rez by the shrine, he ran off back through the door he came from. After a little moment of bemusement between ourselves, we gave chase. Managed to catch him and kill him again. Team mate drew on mini radar to highlight some blue dots heading our way. I guess ranger was meant to have led us to some sort of ambush. Anyway, we made one more kill before time was over and we won...Yippee!
Fighting monsters in PvE...not a problem. Fighting against other human players...a whole new ball game ---> confusing. I think I'll leave PvP until after completing the PvE side of the game.

Curious, I didn't think you could dye backpacks? As there is no graphic for them but their icon? Odd...funnily sad..but odd...

Yeah you can dye bags and belts too.
Most memorable.. hmm. Only good memory I have is when I first soloed the UW. That used to be so damn fun.

Mustache Mayhem
I was level 3 and then I was running and got surrounded by worms.. I started running and then had to start hacking and I was awesome but I almost died- then when I was running back BAM I went down hard a scorpion inside a cave with a guy picking up eggs

Once I was in topk ready to do tombs with my guild as a sac necro (something I'd never done before). I was on TS and I joined the district with my newly rolled character, and immediately after entering, I received an invite, and assuming it was my guild group, I accepted. It turned out to be a group of four people and we quickly grabbed four henchies and jumped in. Now, I was the only necro, and I was sort of wondering why we had henchies, but it didn't get through my skull that I was in a very random PUG, even though the talk over TS had nothing to do with the fight. We (with the help of the henchies) made it past the unworthy. In the Underworld, we died very quickly, and here I was just using BiP and wondering what everyone else was doing. Only after we returned to topk did I realize I'd just joined a random PUG and my guild group had left without me.

First character, I was in the desert. Since I cared nothing for guides/websites at that time, when I first arrived it was confusing, as I had no idea what to do. Anyway, I managed to find and finish the three missions, and it was time to ascend. Cool, so I go in. . .and get slaughtered. It took me three or four different builds before I realized that he would act exactly like the normal AI, and that he had my exact build, so therefore would be highly predictable. Loaded up on spirits, and killed him.
That, and the first time I finished the hell's precipice mission, are two of my more enjoyable memories.

Off to Mineral Springs with the henchmen to cap the final elite giving my warrior every skill in the game. I find the ranger boss (can't rememeber his name) and rush in to kill him quickly and get my last elite. Before I know it, a patrol comes around and there are about 15 Avicaras on us. Henchmen drop pretty fast, but not before taking out the annoying Avicara Wise thankfully.
So there I was, with my warrior, having to tank the remaining 10 or so Avicaras because I refused to die. Several minutes later, I emerge triumphant with the Practiced Stance on my bar.
Other moments... standing alone, over a glob of ecto dropped from a smite as my warrior.

I had just arrived in the desert (for the 6th time) when I saw someone offering a free run through the entire desert. If I remember correctly, his name was something Swiftblade, and he was awesome. In about 20 minutes, he had run me and one other through the entire desert, the long way, he never used any teleporters. I had to give him credit during the run when I noticed that he could type like the wind and never made any typing mistakes. You would have had to see it to believe it, his typing skill was unnatural...spooky. After the desert, he and my lvl 20 ran to the grotto together. With the exception of full guildie Thunderhead teams, and one or maybe two other experiences, this was the most fun I've had in the game. My story-telling may not have conveyed how much fun it was, but I had a great time....and the free run turned into a 10k tip.
btw, I don't need to read about how you ran the whole desert as a lvl 6 mesmer....this was about enjoying the game with someone met through random chance...

A group of Guildies helped myself and another fellow guildie through the Thunderhead keep mission. The leader kept asking us if it was difficult. We kept answering "No, not too bad at all" (We had both heard how hard THK was) When we finished he told us that he'd never gone through the mission so easily, the other guildies with us agreed. The 2 of us who hadn't even tried THK before (We had just got there when they offered to help) just couldn't wrap our minds around why everyone thought it was so hard.
The next night the same group did the 3 Fire Island missions in about 2 hours 45 minutes, including some side tracks to cap skills. It was an awesome couple of days. I still can't keep the Fire Island Missions straight, I see them all as 1 big mission.
I've learned since how hard THK is without the teamwork we took for granted with that first try.

mine would have to be in RoF, i was a ranger and no one wanted me in a group, so i decide to take all henchies and go through the first mission. Once i bbeat it i went back and the same warrior was still looking for a group.
My other moment i remember is the las RoF mission. Was bored and asked for people to join. Immeadiatly got a few mesmers and necros. Toom Devona and 2 healer henchies and off we went. Beat missin of first try.
sorry if this was hard to read

My most memorable moment was fighting a runner in Competition Arena. We had been chasing her for around 15 minutes, and then we decide to stop. We sit in a corner next to each other, grab some drinks, talk in teams, and generally ignore the runner. The runner... aware that we were no longer chasing her, parks herself right next my sword warrior and starts spamming her rank emote right in his face and saying stuff about how Arena noobs are no match for a leet Tombsperson.
The other warrior goes "now" in teamspeak. I take one step forward. Hamstring. Blackout. The entire group decends on her and wastes her in less than six seconds.
I was so happy.

I try to get into a group, but they say blaa blaa you're not rank 6 yet etc... I had some friends in that group and I really needed the fame and I knew that it was a good group, so I was pretty pissed at that moment. I took 2 guildies and formed a r3+ pug group. We went trough every map in Tombs to HoH, where we met that team I was trying to get in. We would have won but they were a ranger spike and interrupted our hero when we started capping at 40 seconds left. We were better, and that's enough for me.
The undead Mesmer
The last FoW run that i did that whas fun
A decent group of 1 N/Me <-- me 3 Monks 2 eles and 2 rangers.
Whell of whe go and whe made it all the way to the forgemaster and beyond (sadly that i forgot the mats otherwise i could have crafted my fissure armor)
annyways the place where whe almost failed whas when whe deceded to have the shadows and skeletons get a civil war.
It worked but whe almost got whiped ^^.
I never forget the moment when 1 shard and 1 key dropped from me from 1 group of shadows.
(havent had much memorable memories so far)

One day while in Ventari's Refuge, my Ranger steps outside to collect on a mission reward. As you know, there is always a fight going on there, which doesn't quite advance upon the guys you talk to. For the hell of it, I casually start plinking arrows at a Maguuma warrior in the distance. He croaks without moving a muscle, and drops a gold bow for me! Truly, the easiest bit of farming I've ever done.

I got me a new memorable moment just today!
I was in Lions Arch random arena with my mesmer, specced for anti-warrior. We had won 3-4 consecutive victories when we came up against a team which was very similar to ours. We were very evenly matched - neither team could kill the other! After ten minutes the lone warrior on both teams bailed, and we still couldn't kill eachother.
After 12 minutes we agreed to stop fighting, and had a little dance party.
We agreed to resolve the deadlock by rolling dice, but it turns out you can't roll dice in the arena, so in the end we all just quit.
I'm so tired of seeing people being rude, bail at spawn if it's the "wrong" composition of the team, or who bail if the team hasn't won in three minutes, so it was real nice to see that there are friendly, sporting, people playing.
Respect to both my teammembers and the opposing team!

Most memorable moment for me...hmm theres several good ones but the funniest one. A little while back I decided to start a monk. No one else in my guilde had a pre char at the time so I was on my own. Didn't want to spend much time there so I only did the quests that gave me skills and got ready to leave. Got to the pvp part and saw the "xx joins game" for the other side...they had 4 real people while my team was me and henchies. I had stefan reyna and orion...fun. So I say in all chat...wow this kind of sucks I'm stuck by myself with henchies. The response I got was smiley faces alot of lol 's lmao's and this should be easy. I think I was lvl 3 maybe 4. They were all 5 and higher. So the fight starts and I ping targets use bane sig and flare (obviously i was monk/ele). Surprisingly I won. 6-1 the only reason I died is becuase I ran back out of thier mages firestorm and got pinned to the rez shrine by the henchies and then thier ele dropped fire storm again =0(. I died with 1 sec left on clock. Looking at all chat there were a bunch of sad faces and omg wtf happened...how did we loose? messages. I couldnt stop laughing for awhile. Sometimes you gotta love henchies...they know how to listen when you ping =0).

Frost Gate:
Finishing this mission with a pug while lying face down dead. The team was doing well, but people dropped out (quite early) until there were just 3 of us left. We decided to take the challenge and continue. After we activated the first of the 3 gate switch (last part of mission), a bad aggro left myself and another warrior dead. The remaining ranger couldn't res either of us as she had already used her res sig earlier on one of the droppers. The ranger asked about returning to the outpost and restarting with a new team, but we managed to persuade her to continue. One ranger against 10 summit drawves was a great sight to see. While she was doing hit and runs, us deads were cheering her on. After activating the final switch, the waiting for the cutscene was an intense, long wait, especially with more summit drawves running towards the ranger. It came and we all cheered.
Doppy:
Beating my Doppelganger with my mesmer but dropping dead at the last moment. The fight started, I threw Backfire and Empathy on doppy. And doppy did the same to me. I did nothing while doppy cast spells and fired arrows. The arrows were hurting me while my hexes hurt doppy. We both ended up with very low health. Doppy fired the last arrow killing itself, bonus Xp appears, arrow struck me, I die and get the 'Return to Outpost' message.

My most memorable GW moment must be when Prince Rurik died. I laughed so hard that day. :P
I think I took about 20 screenshots off him before he died!!
And of course the time I finished a mission without doing a thing, or almost. At the beginning of the mission I just rushed into some monster and the killed me, the others didn't want to res me because I aggroed alot of dudes :P
So I was dead until the mission was over. :P

Well this just happened to me yesterday. I've never farmed anything before, but just made a 55 Necro, so thought I'd practice a bit. I just tried various locations, and tried Iron Mines cause I read on here some people do it. Figure I'd die pretty quick, cause I'm not too familiar with 55'ing, but killed the first two groups in like two minutes. I get a gold drop from a Stone Summit, and it's a Superior Absorption!! Sure I died soon after that - but still...

Oh - and first time doing Tombs with my guild. They helped me through since I'd never done it, but I got two greens on that trip!! That was nice.

What did I get on the first run?
Black dye.

I was still in pre-searing and there was this girl who was always in a good mood. She would just skip around and play her flute while telling the most amazing stories of the other townsfolk.
Good times, good times.

Someone in my new guild asked if I could help them do some Yaks quests with my lvl20 wammo. He was a mesmer, so we got Alesia and headed out. We got through it pretty quickly, and I got a black and silver dye within 2 minutes of each other. I actually missed the silver(!) and he pointed it out. After getting the quests done and getting to the next town he thanked me and said he was only 50g away from getting his new armor. I gave him 1k because he was good luck and made my gold stash double.
My most noob moment was when I realized we needed Alesia because my wa/mo made it all the way up to the desert without having healing breeze.
