Noobs
Leonof
Here's a term I really dislike. I rarely or almost never say it and I think it's really a sad term. I totally accept trash talking though. It has always been part of the game and all that but this term is really said too much. Here's my story:
We were out experimenting with builds in team arenas and we come upon this balanced group. We obviously lost to a more decent group since our build was just a trial but they were really jerks about it. We find them again so again they kept calling us noobs and kept saying we suck, we already said it was experimental but they were real ----s about it. We really don't care so we don't bother retaliating and move on.
Another time was when we made a quick spike build and we took it to HoH. We fight and go up against this group, we kill about half their team but get ourselves killed in the process. Again it was a good try for a new build but again they start. They go "stupid noobs", "YOU GUYS JUST GOT ----ing OWNED!!" and "go back to farming ettins or something". Which is so ironic because we killed most of them in the begginning and that guy was wearing 15karmor. We just didn't know our real flaws yet so we lost, good try and more practice then.
I find stupid people like these everywhere and it sickens me. So I guess most noobs call others noobs. I find ignorance is different from stupidity and people think they are so good because they know something the other doesn't. The only time I could call a person a noob is when they are really serious about something stupid. Like a ranger saying he owned you because he comboed Ignite Arrows with Barrage, now that is a real dumbass right there. If people actually gave a good match and played decently but still lost, I'd simply say gg and nice job. Wouldn't bother calling everyone I beat a noob and everyone who are less experienced either.

Wel....it's like that unfortunately.
These terms are so inbedded in talk in games, that they are known (and used) by many. Nothing to do about it, aside from not participating in it.
Let it go, and don't let it distract you much.
Granted, I've had a share of trashtalk that was totally unwarranted also, and at that moment your jaw drops out of unbelief sometimes, but a moment later you just play on. They don't know what they are saying, think it doesn't matter because they are on the net.
Just enjoy the game. Sorry I can't give any better advice...
Oh...and join a great non-trashtalking guild

My response to anyone calling me a noob is = LOL
God that winds them up more than anything else you can say sometimes, i just repeat LOL at every insult they throw at me.
Also as im normally a monk of late, if anyone calls a guildee noob i will threaten to leave (i dont of course but it soon shuts em up 90% of the time, and of course this is pve only).

In my experience in RPGs in general, its usually the nuubs themselves that cant wait to get just a little bit of skill, so they can start calling other new players nuubs, like the term was goin outta style.
So, take some consilation in that bro.
And yes, also take alot of consilation in the fact that they are the typical comic book guy, and most likely do live in their parents basement... Just tell em its wayy past their bedtime and they better not let their fathers catch them up on his puter, he might get a spanking before bedtime, or just lol them to death

Actually yeah it doesn't really bother me. I just feel bad for other people since they whine about the PvP world being so arrogant and its not always like that. I find it being a sad fact everyone likes to start stupid ---- but then again I know it already is a thing in our current society. I just hope no other decent player can be such an ---hole about these things and other newbies turn out to be one. It's not like I never trashtalk before to build some interest up but I find too much people making a big deal about these things.
Oh and I do have a good guild . Nice people and very helpful, probably the most decent players I know.

It's cause some people want to be "gamers" cause they think its cool. Real hard-core gamers no better though.

We ban the use of the term in our guild. Anyone caught using it is kicked. Some people find it very offensive so we take a firm stance on it.
And I agree, the only people that use it are usually barely skilled themselves. But, next time someone calls you a noob just remember, they are probably a spotty kid with jam-jars glasses and no social life. Just laugh it off and get on with it.

What bugs me is that the term NOOB is more often used to express of feeling of superiority.
Ppl that think of themselves as soooooo godly everybody else must be a noob.
Yesterday a warrior who was calling out for a veteran monk to join his group saying that you would have to show him your armor and answer a few questions correct or be kicked out as a NOOB.
I am a veteran monk but i told him i would not even join his team if he paid me.
So came the classical answer
NOOB !!

Hey now I feel insulted! Ever saw the Specsaver commercial? Do not mess with four-eyes!!!
We use the term noob in our guild, but strictly in the guildchat/over TS. This is for fun reasons only of course.

The term "NOOB" is why I hate PvP. I'm looking to have fun not to be called stupid names.
Soulfly
It is rather frustrating. No offense, but I find it is usually younger players using this term. I am not catagorizing all younger aged players, but it does seem the trend. I have left many Guilds for this reason, and will continue to do so until the right fit comes along. (No need to send me a whisper, currently in a Guild, hopefully it works out )

If you want my opinion, who cares? If you know your not a noob and someone calls you one, whats the problem?

Dont feed the trolls! Sometimes when i hook up with friends we shit talk people just to piss em off. I dont know why, but people just cant stand being called a noob. Its such great troll bait and yet means so very little. Why would it bother you if you've been around for a while and you know the game well. These people try to get under your skin and obviously its working great:P
Its kind of like those runners in team arena that all focus on running from you. They dont do it to farm easy faction..they do it to break you and piss you off. I think its funny personally and ive been part of that scene a few times..of course it helps if your on the giving end of it and not the recieving. Just ignore them and move on..saves many headaches.

My favorite is when one time i was in the 4 man arena, there was a very nice set team, i kept getting with a few of the same ppl every time as well, we fought the same group about 4 times, every time we played them they posted the famous "u noobs suck", "go back to ascalon" and the likes... well, then i landed on a perfect team.... we ended up beeting them about 15 - 20 times when they kept coming back with randomn teams, we ended up going 60 and 0 before some of us had to go..... (not bragging here) but the most we said was "who is the noobs?" they all were pissed and called us cheaters and such........ in my eyes a noob is someone who has no good sportsman skills and thinks they r good cause they can sit there and run ppl down....
pyrohex
Either learn to ignore them, or learn to flame them back. It's that simple.

I hear the word more when we beat other teams than I do when we lose. I'll never figure how someone can say a thing when you just whipped them.
I turn off my all a lot when I'm playing, I've never regretted it yet.
gg, no trash talk back is better.
It's just my opinion but you trash talk friends. If I beat my brother I'm going to talk a bit, but I don't get the whole trash talking strangers. I don't think it's fun for the person talking or listening.

Another rather funny time was quite recent - I was in competition arenas and 2 of my team dropped - leaving just me (monk) and this other guy playing warrior - regardless we continued, I was playing boon prot, and he was doing quite niceley and we killed 3 of their 4 quite easily, we had one left - This guy left was a tank that was pretty much filly equipped on +armor skills, had watch yourself, healing hands... pretty much we couldn't kill it, or come close. Then one of the corpses on the floor started shouting abbuse at me (the monk) saying "Monk u rnt shit, neither are u warrior, u cant even kill 1 person, noobs" - despite the fact we both decimated the rest of the team. I quite literally did ZERO damage to this warrior - and he didn't do much more to me, so I'm a noob because I couldn't contemplation of purity a warrior to death. in the end we quit.

problem is, people are like that on the internet. What started out as a mere term for someone new to the game, has become an insult. it's been an insult for years now.
Newb however is fine. That is still accepted (by most people anyway) to be an unoffensive term for someone new to a game/forum/way of *whatever* whereas noob has degraded into a "omg you're so stupid" kinda thing. It's an easy way to insult someone whilst not being told off/temp-banned for cursing.
People that call others noobs in the offensive way really need to get some friends so they don't feel so darn insecure.

Age
They are noobs themselves who have no understanding of team or competive play and more likely will be the first to leave group.

That ranger used a preparation and than barrage.
Told him to stop using preparations with barrage and read skill descriptions
He continued.
I continued.
He continued.
I left after i found out it was him casting firestorm, and not the ele that already left eatlier.

If you are copping this and you beat him try this one;
"dude you were just beaten by noob, what's lower than a noob...........
a) you
b) you
c) you
d) all of the above"

do they just want to show that they don´t know the meaning of the word ? or demonstrate the absence of any logical thought or worse the absence of any brain activity at all ?
anyway it happens to me nearly everytime i play my prot monk in random arena.
since i know it`s full of warriors i always take amity with me and using it ends with some enemy warrior calling me "amity noob" after losing the match (or sending me hate tells like "you §&%# amity noob")
i always reply "i`m using it only against noob warriors. works fine"
that usually shuts them up

I do love it in Tombs though when a team you've just beat call you noobs, makes my day! I just think "enjoy making a new PuG as your team disappears one by one when you're dumped into district 4..."

Yeah i hate when poeple are always saying noobs in pvp. The best time was when we went against this one team and lost, they then really started the trash talking and "noob calling" So we leave and adjust our build and by some miracle are against these poeple again. They rember and are expecting a win only to lose within 1 min by the adjusted build. So basically we had our fun repaying with interest the trash talking while. So just ignore the noob callers or flame them bac, but if the other team doesnt do it just say gg, or if it wasn't nothing at all.
