Suspended Account Innapropriate Name

Hi.. Got this message about being suspended for my character name this morning after using it for 9 months almost everday.. player names are

Save Your Asss
Humungous Whack
Gazina Farstrike
Special Cuddles

I've searched the forums and found some info but none telling me what the outcome of it is.. Do you get to rename yr character ? Do they just delete it and say too bad start again.. It would seem to me to be grossly unfair after 9 months time investment to not have the opportunity to at least respond to the complaint. Anet has my email address.

I really cant say that i find my names offensive.

Once the suspension is lifted I believe you'll have the oppurtunity to re-name the character's names that were reported as offensive.

And out of those 4 names I see two that I'd say got you reported - Save your Asss & Humungous Wack. And while you might not find your names offensive, there are people who obviously do since you got reported to ANet for an offensive name.

lol.... shit my main chars are Nigro the Black, Nigro the Mesmer, and Dont Touch Me There, also other char is Nigro the Ranger heh thats no good.

Yeah, why would you even consider naming your stuff that way anyhow? It just makes you look bad in game being named that way.

As for me, my only out-of-name character is "Dontdie Notrezzin U" my monk. I kind of like it; it's purely an ironic name.

Careful with names when I see people like, "Ooo ahh yes yess" and "Willy Wanker"

ya same thing happend to me.. name was Fiery Arrow Ur Arse.. i got reported from some ass.. cause he wouldnt pay the run.. so i kicked him.. and he was like immma report u blah blah blah.. your account is suspended for a short ammount of time.... it tells u when u try to login.. and u have to rename the charc.

if you find something as stupid as a character name on an online game offensive, perhaps you should not be playing online games

I would have reported you for the special cuddles one. That one is just creepy and smacks of dirty old man syndrome especially as the GW world is full of young children who are mixing with older adults.

The GW mods are just looking out for the safety and wellbeing of all clients be they young or old. The fact is that our Internet society is full predators who use the Internet to grume young children into being what they want, and having inappropriate character names, which are suggestive to say the least, does not help the situation. I would suggest that when you next create a character that challenge yourself and find a name that is more appropriate to the GW world.

Also, personally when im forming a party or joining one if anyone with a profane name is involved i leave

I dont find anything wrong with your names lol (except cuddles) but if you are that sensitive to names, resolve this issue by not playing lol or not playing with people with those names.

A thing about offensive names...

We had a member in the guild called douche...and he SUCKED.

So whenever he did something bad, it was the running joke. F**king Douche...

Are you able to ask which names got you suspended? Your names aren't that bad. Heck I've seen some pretty rude ones in game, that were much more inappropriate.

Lucky I didn't start up a "Licker" family of characters.

Well at least some of you have brains.. My girlfriend and I have "Special Cuddles" and we are middle 30's age. Any of you who have put it in other contexts should maybe have a look at yourself and ask why is it that you would interpret it in an offensive manner in the first place.. Like one of the respondants said.. If you are easily offended then perhaps you should live in a bubble and stay away from the real world.. It's funny how the "Special Cuddles" was the last thing on my mind. I thought it was the word Asss that had got me suspended. You people who have pointed out that its a dirty phrase thanks for the heads up on how the sick people of society interpret it.. It's people like that that has this do-gooding world in the state its in.. Oh well.. I think I might go and look around and start reporting all the names of people in the game who's name I can twist around and make something out of that might be offensive to a small minded minority of people. Maybe I can even become one of those fun people

Maybe you should spend some time in a major city watching the conversation for five minutes.. Really, you must have your head in the sand if thats what you think. The GW mods would ban half the population for offensive language if they were really serious.

my last warrior was name Lichen Ze Clitzen- i didnt name him, a friend of mine did. i never got reported for it though

its just a name i dont see why it can be so offensive.
like someone mentioned above u take a look in any chat anywhere and you will see stuuf much worse and more prfane than "special cuddles" (lol dont see what the big deal about that name is either)
honestly if you cant stand to see someone whos name is vaguely offensive then you must be living one sheltered life.
also for whoever leaves a group just because a person has a name you dont like is bullsh*t. thats just stupid when you dont know anything about the prson in question. idiotic that u can get banned for havving a vaguely offensive name and ppl who spam racist stuff or sales for ebay gold on the all chat or exploit GW can get away no problems.

I think that the name thing boils down to this:

Chat can be filtered.
Names can not.

So, yeah, if you use a name that's mildly offensive, and you get banned, well, tough. If you use language while you chat that would make a sailor blush, well, those that don't want to hear it have the chat filter on. Thus, they never see it, and no harm done. [EDIT] Well, except in PvP, because I've been told of bans for offensive language and conduct while playing PvP.

That's just how I see it.

Of those names, only one is offensive, and that one is: Save Your Ass. Humungous Whack isn't offensive whatsoever, it's just as offensive as the name Tremendous Smack. Gazina Farstrike is a cool name nothing there remotely offensive. Special Cuddles is also acceptable, it only has an offensive and dirty connotation if you have a dirty mind.

I'm sorry, but if you fail to see *why* your name was reported, then there is a lack of common sense involved somewhere. It does not matter if someone lives in a bubble or not. The truth of the matter is this: The GW community has a varied audience. Ranging from the Highschool teenager, to the mid 30's person, to the old-"er" crowd...to Some one in their 30's son or daughter that they allow to play the game as well. Why should GW be the place where perhaps these kids get subjected to these types of names?

Those types of names are not "cool", they're there merely to provoke a response. Until people realize that, this topic cannot move forward. I certainly appreciate Anet's vigilance vs. these types of names.
