NeMo (N/M)
Plastiqq
Hey everyone. I'm new here.
I searched but I didn't really find much so...
Does anyone know a good N/M build for PvP?
I'm avoiding Minion Master builds, but one that I have particular interest in is:
Debuff/Smite (I heard smiting skills are really powerful at high levels)
I am really open to anything surrounding N/M whether that be a support character or not.
Please share your knowledge.
Thank you.

If you already know what you want to do, just do it? Look at the skill list, it isn't crazy hard to come up with a build.
12 blood
12 curses
11 smite
Smite Hex
Rend Enchantments
Lingering Curse {E}
Strip Enchantment
Chilblains/Open slot
Balthazar's Aura
Convert Hexes
Might want to throw in Offering of Blood in there instead, and raise SR, but you get the idea. Just pick some skills you like. *shrug*

Thank you.
Sorry, I'm just not really familiar with necro and monk skills and stat distribution.

We have a skill listing here:
boing
As for distribution, it just depends what you want to be most effective. In general, curses doesn't need to be that high except for two skills: Rend Enchantments and Spiteful Spirit. Rend is always nice when it's higher, but it's somewhat of a luxury. If you find yourself running out of energy a lot, probably lower that and put it in Soul reaping.. though the effects are minimal in pvp.
Put points in what you feel should be highest.

I have GWFreaks so it helps a lot.
Thank you very much for the help, you have made it much easier on me.
My only question is, what should I use for me last slot? I was thinking vampiric touch just to be able to grab some health but...
Do you have any suggestions?

Vampiric Gaze would be nice. If you don't have it already.

I have seen a couple of good uses for a N/Mo in HoH
One is as a backup prot using fast cast spam prot skills (reversal etc) as well as corpse control (profane, consume, putrid) in addition to tainted.
The other is as a 'hidden' bonder. Ok, it wont fool the better teams, but you'd be surprised how long it takes teams to spot that the bonds are held by the necro sometimes. Nice energy regain from a high soul reaping attribute too. Team with a pure healer and a boon prot for best effect.
Have seen both of these played to great effect

Have seen both of these played to great effect That sounds real interested, except I'm not sure what a bonder is.
Both of those sound really interesting. Can anyone go over them briefly?
I'm sorry for my constant questions...
Thank you.

A bonder is someone who maintains Life Bond on everyone and usually uses Blessed Signet/Balthazar's Spirit to keep up energy. However with no DF, you'd have to rely on Soul Reaping and OoB, probably. For the first build, not so sure, but probably something like this. Tainted Flesh {E} Necrotic Traversal/Putrid Explosion/Consume Corpse (bloodstained boots) Reversal of Fortune Guardian Mend Ailment Shielding Hands? Protective Spirit? Smite Hex/Convert And probably tons of SR since the elite is taken up with Tainted Flesh. jesh
Oops.. delete this.

I never realized SR helps energy regen in PVP, I thought it was so minimal that it was just disreguarded. So for this build I'm probably looking at Death magic, SR, and Protection Prayers? So for this build I'm probably looking at Death magic, SR, and Protection Prayers? I had a N/Mo condition remover. 1 version ran Prot and Healing with Plague Signet, the other was Curses with Plague Signet. 12 Healing Prayers 11 Protection Prayers 3+1+1 Curses Reversal of Fortune Guardian Orison of Healing (the weakest spell in this build) Healing Breeze Plague Signet Draw Conditions Vigorous Spirit or something, I forget now Res Sig The curses version you just run your favorite curse build but use Plague Signet as your elite and Draw Conditions from the monk side. In this version you run some Blood skills for utility. Mark of Pain Suffering Vampiric Gaze Plague Signet Draw Conditions Strip Enchantment Rend Enchantments Res Sig 12+1+3 Curses 12+1 Blood rest +1 in Soul Reaping Xue Yi Liang
Keep in mind that the kind of build you use is only a small part of the equation - the rest is up to your personal skills and knowing how to use that build. Some of my favorite builds are absolutely useless unless you know how to use them. On the other hand, some people have some very effective builds that would probably be useless in my hands - at least in the beginning - without knowing how to play them.
If you just want to run a copy-cat build without much PvP experience you'll likely be pretty disappointed. If you want to understand your style of play or the rationale behind certain builds the best thing I can suggest is to just play lots of PvP. - why not? it's free. Put simply ... owning a Ferarri doesn't make you a professional driver. If you don't even have a learner's permit you can't expect to win races. Plastiqq

I can handle using elementalists and mesmers in PVP but I have never used a monk in my life so I have no idea what I'm doing. Only way to learn is through experience, thats what im going to do. |
