i am requesting a pure necro build. mainly based around assorted curses i.e.: life transfer/siphon, faintheartedness, malaise, etc.

Can anyone help me out? I want to play the role of a "support the warrior who is fighting 1v1" kinda thing.

Well Life Transfer and Siphon are neither of them curses....for starters.

Try Spiteful Spirit (elite), Suffering, Shadow of Fear, Enfeebling Blood, Desecrate Enchanments.....stuff like that....max out curses.

If you're wanting to use blood to support....think of Well of Blood.

Sounds more like you're wanting a build for 2man farming (i.e. 1v1 - since that doesnt happen in this gam)

what you want to do, is not ask for a free build, but make one and ask for ppl to comment on it, and then you will see the flaws of your build. You will get alot more answers that way than by just asking a build out of nowhere.

so i suggest you go download gwfreaks (not sure i'm allowed to give the link in these forums, so i won't...just google away and download that program), make a build in that program seeing all the skill possibilities, and Then post it here.

i, for one, will be glad to comment on it.

good luck.

Necro can be very devastating. Take in mind you need some mixture. Do not concentrate only on hindering hexes, cuz you may end with no skill to do any damage (except you are running some sort of guild/team build and this is your main task)

Life Transfer ; Faintheartedness ; Malaise ; Life Siphon ; Parasitic Bond ; Insidious Parasite ; Vampiric Gaze ; Animate Bone Horror

and alot of times in comp arena it will be 1v1. a W/R or W/Mo on my team is fighting some guy who is fighting him back while the rest are busy.

ok new spell set. alot of people have said that a soul barbs spike set is useless, but it works fine for me and is even effective against monks.

Soul Barbs ; Life Transfer ; Malaise ; Faintheartedness ; Life Siphon ; Parasitic Bond ; Insidious Parasite ; Vampiric Gaze

I had put Soul barbs on this protect monk who was enchant happy and layerd him with hex after hex in the order shown above, and everytime he would cast like guardian, or RoF, or anything, he would take like 40 dmg, plus the massive health & energy degen. 11 seconds he was down.

Faintheartedness and Insidious Parasite don't go well with each other. Use one or the other, preferably Faintheartedness. And for the love of all that is holy, put in a resurrection signet.

ill put in rez sig because i can. But why dont they go well together? they seem to work fine for me. i really appreciate the +102 health after the 20 seconds.

But i just came across the only problem ive had with this build.....Hex Breaker. It makes me sad. can ruin the whole thing sometimes. But im thinking of combining it with mesmer skills such as etheral burden for extra energy once ive slowed down a warriors advancement and Conjure Phantasm just because it can speed up the dps by alot.

lambent... obviously you are thinking of PARASITIC BOND, insidious parasite steals health from attacking foes, so therefore faintheardedness and insidous parasite would not work well, but bond would work fine

Parasitic Bond is fine. But Insidious Parasite triggers when the target attacks, and Faintheartedness makes them attack less often, so you're undermining your own hex.

Parasitic Bond is also a good way to deal with Hex Breaker. It's cheap and spammable, so you can use it to defuse the Hex Breaker before putting your important hexes on.

What I hate about people asking for builds is that they are so non-specific.

PvE or PvP?
TA, CA, HoH, GvG??

What overall build are you intending to run?

The game builds are too specific for someone to just blab out a skill bar and you run off with it as the world's most devastating necro. That's W/Mo attitude.

I would say if you go Pure Curse you will be an easy target if you are left alone =/
But some skills worth of having in pvp (Not so good in PVE) is having:
Wither - Malaise - Faintheartedness - Parasitic Bond and some others but Wither and Malaise works great together if you are pure Curse, and if you are N/Me you can always take away Wither and place Panic in it's place instead..

yes ive tried that and am about to buy wither right now.

And yes, i was thinking of parasidic bond.

Im not saying its the best necro build, but its pretty good. Somewhat unstable at times. The long casting time is deadly when playing Mesmers, Rangers, or even Warriors. a Backfire or Hex Breaker will also shut this build down, so im trying to work on it some.

And this a a Competition Arena (Comp. Arena, CA, etc.) build

This is the build I use... Necro/Monk
Awaken the blood
Soul Barbs
Parasitic Bond
Wither
Malaise
Enfeeble
Insideos Parasite
Res Sig.
I like using it.

(Pvp orientated.)

Life Siphon is not very good. Insidious Parasite is just to weak for its mana cost IMO, but it's decent. I think it's wise to have a least one damage spell, like Shadow Strike or Vampiric Gaze, in case you need to finish somebody off. Preferably the latter.

I really like Blood Renewal for PvP. If you use it along with Parasitic Bond wisely, you should stay alive for a looong time.

The truly nasty skill in the Curses line is SS. With a 10 second recharge time and only 10 point cost, it's one of the best skills in the game. It affects both physical attacks and all spells.

Curses Necros are a lot of fun to play. I usually run off very long streaks in the CAs and into the TAs when playing mine.

Life Siphon isn't bad if you can get it off on multiple targets, and the health regen from it can cancel out Malaise's degen.

Parasatic bond is also very good, as a cover hex, or spamming it on multiple targets for a decent boost of health later on.

I don't particulalry like Insidious parasite though. Its a bit pricey for what it does, and the only benefit of it really is that it heals you a bit. I definitely prefer rend enchantments, as it'll remove prety much all enchants they have if you have enough points in curses.

I like the 2 anti-enchant spells. They can really hurt certain types of builds, particularly enchant-heavy monks.

I've been playing a couple of necros for over 400 hours now, but all minion master builds with different combos of Blood/Death.

Just last night I decided to give Curses with SS a try, after seeing the popularity of SS necros at Sorrow's Furnace.

I capped SS from the Azure boss just south of Camp Rankor, went back to Rankor to readjust my skills and attribute levels. Started off like this I think:

Spiteful Spirit {Elite}
Soul Barbs
Parasitic Bond
Awaken the Blood
Life Siphon
Shadow Strike
Vampiric Gaze
Restore Life

Attribute levels were maybe:

Curses 12+1
Blood 11+1
Soul Reaping 8+2 (headgear w/maj vigor + minor rune)

For weapons, I was using Morgriff's Shadestone, and a plain max dmg Truncheon (Morgriff's Sceptor was my usual weapon, but that's Death so need to get another good Curses/Blood weapon).

So I took off from Camp Rankor with 7 henchies, and never really ran into problems with any types of mobs. The worst were the Blessed Griffons with their Spell Breaker casts, but that was merely annoying, since I was able to wear them down eventually. Azures were pretty easy to take, as were the Grawls.

Just experimenting with strategy, I would prepare for battle with Awaken the Blood, then I would tend to cast Soul Barbs first, then SS, then Parasitic Bond (for my health more than anything). If SS and SB were still recharging, I'd use Life Siphon, or if needed immediate health, Vampiric Gaze or Shadow Strike. But generally, SB and SS would pretty much take care of things by themselves in most cases. I pretty much cleared out the area right around Camp Rankor without getting killed once. I was amazed at how effective SS is - the foes pretty much do themselves and their allies in...

So next, I tried this out in Grenth's Footprint and Sorrow's Furnace (again with 7 henchies). Outside SF I had no problems - although I did notice the Gnashers were creating a lot of Bone Fiends I never had to deal with before as a MM necro. Inside wasn't too bad either, although I did get killed a couple times by big mobs, so I'm not totally sure what's the best way to keep my own health up...

Can someone comment on this build and strategy, and tell me how to improve it?
