Mo/Me

I've been trying to find the best hex removal spell for a Mo/Me in PVE, without using elites. I've looked at several of them - shatter hex, smite hex... but it seems that remove hex is the best one for recast speed and mana usage.

I am just surprised that a non-attribute skill is the best for hex removal - and how bad it is compared tor mend ailment/mend condition.

So I'm curious, what spell do you use for hex removal and why?

Canada, almost got to see a polar bear... :P

Holy veil, smite hex, inspired hex are my favorites.
Remove hex is 2 secs cast, with migraine makes it 4 - just asks for a kill or interrupt.
Contemplation of Purity is also a nice thing for a protector.

I prefer Inspired Hex. Remove a hex in just 1s, and doubles as a good way to regain energy. The long recharge on it I find is tolerable. Unless you're getting faced with Hex overload teams, it's usually not that big an issue (plus, if you're running balanced build, it's often a good idea to have one person on your team, preferrably a non-monk, run Convert Hexes).

Problem with Remove Hex I find as a Heal Monk is that 2s away from battle isn't worth it. Even as a Prot Monk, the only 2s spell I find worthwhile is Aegis. Otherwise, something critical could have happened in that 2s you spent casting and someone on your team may have died (especially true versus spike teams).

While I agree with Hiryu, the OP specified PvE in which 2 seconds isn't as detrimental. If you're facing mobs that throw out a lot of hexes Remove Hex is going to give the fastest single-skill bulk hex removal.

Holy Veil is a close second as it lets your team interrupt easier (though it's only one target) and has the quick hex removal when you lift it, but it burns your energy if you leave it on, and has a slightly slower recharge.

But it really depends on the area you're going to. If there's few or no hex casters or the only hexes you'll be facing are short duration, you might be better off not bringing hex removal at all. If you'll be facing challenging mobs that rely heavily on hexes you might want to bring a couple. Since you can know what you're facing in PvE it's easy and very helpful to taylor your build to the enemies you'll be facing.

It depends on what you play. For a normal monk I'd take Holy Veil.
A mesmer hybrid can also take Inspired Hex for energy regain.
Now for selfhex removal, when you get spammed them on you in pvp.

Take lods of 5energy-enchants that last 10-60seconds, then do Contemplation of Purity. It really rocks. THe choice depends on your character and on the situation.

Shatter hex is nice for dehexing your wars and helping with a little damage... but as a monk you'll be going healing, prot, or DF.
