I have post many suggestions for GW for long time. I decided to make a more interesting compilation of it in a form of a Player Journal, describing a play experience in a conceptual world fill with my ideas (at least in the PvE side of things). Since many of ideas are posted in different forums, different post (thread started by me, or as reply in other’s), or even not full written at all, so it is hard to make a full list link for them. However, I will put each concept and its related title/key words in a bracket ( ). Feel free to ask more about each concept if have any question, and I will see if I can find a link to them. So here it goes:
“ So I start my day with a decision. Should I go do some item farming, or do some exploration? While it would be nice to get some more gold in my pocket, it does get tiresome from time to time, so I decided to go set out on an adventure. Being a PvE player, and none of my friend is on, I will just go out and party with my friendly henches, and see if I can find any clue as to how to get a cool title of “Forest Stalker” (Titles) that I once saw, and who knows, maybe I will get some nice drop or a Card of two. (Fun collectibles)
Since I am not in group with any player, I will forgo getting the mindless mercenaries inside the city, instead try to get some RPG action going with my Henches who are found outside (NPC personality). So I go outside by my self, and as expected, my Henches are there waiting for me. I like how they would talk more to me now, like Gwen, gaining a bit more personality and involvement. Humm, maybe when I get more money, I should go and buy my Necro Hench, Pain, a new armor. (NPC personality)
So anyhow, we start traveling. I play as an Alchemist/Warrior. I just like the to spam my health potions when I am in harm, and Acid Flask combine with Iron Spikes and Cyclone Axe make a great AOE damager to take out the dumber berserk type of enemy AI, but do have more trouble when face with a smarter kind (various enemy AI). Too bad it always take a while to prepare the potions before each battle. (Alchemist Concept Class) The first few group of enemy are not too hard, but than we actually got ambush by a new group of enemy that was new to me. (Randomness in Exploration Area). We nearly escape. I should of see the sign of wreckage and prepare more potion beforehand.
After some quick rest, we are off again. Than we come to a stop, as I saw the new enemy group ahead. Charrs, at this area? I thought. Aw, than I remember, there are rumors and hints of Charrs Invading Westward, thus explain this Charr scouting party. (Invasion Event) I decided to stay clear of them, knowing those guys will tend to run away, bring a bigger force back. (Enemy AI) I lead my group to sneak passes them.
Surprisingly, my monk hench, Atlan, begin to tell me a recollection of his child hood and how he escape the Charrs before, but also got separated with his sister. I like how my other Warrior Hench, Torken, just reply “Blah, I would of Smash them all and be done with it!” But that conversation sparks an interest in me. There might be a quest related to his sister somewhere. Maybe next time, will take a trip to the site where he last seen her sister, and might get some more clue, or get him to talk more about it. (NPC personality)
After few more enemy groups, I notice a green dot on my mini map that I didn’t seen before. Must be a special NPC that appear on random, maybe he will give us some good stuff. So we make way for it. There we found an Old man. After talking to him, he said he would tell us a secret if we give him three Goblin Teeth. Well, I already got two, and a third one is not hard to find with all the goblin around, so let start get killing! After few minutes, I got the teeth, and he told me that an entrance to a cave can be found somewhere in this area, and give me a marker on my map. Sweet. He also would offer to sell me the Cave Key, but I decided to get it my self. (Dungeon Entrance in Exploration Area)
After some more killing, finally got there. Knowing it is my lucky chance to get a Dungeon Entrance, it is important to kill the Entrance Guardians to get its key, so the next time I come back, I could still get it. After some furious fighting, with 3 of my hench dead, I finally clear the Boss like Entrance Guardians and get the key. Should I open it, and go on, or go back? Well, I decided it would be more fun to get my friend to join me on the Cave run, so I will not open the door, and save it for later, knowing I would still get the map instanize with the cave as long as I didn’t use the key yet.
My pack is pretty full. Thought didn’t get much gold because the gold drop rate is less now, and no rare items, but did get a lot of monster drops, like Goblin Bones and Crack Skulls. I think the bones won’t be traded much, because there are too many player farming them, but at least Crack Skull would sell for a good price. (GW Economy) And all that playing has turn from a Bright Sunny morning to a Foggy Dawn in game time. Better head back soon before the mob in the area turn into the harder to handle Dark Spawn that only appears in the night. (Time cycle) Ctrl M. “
Here is a post by hidden_agenda that post things very similar to some of my idea on henchman, so its a good read.

This is pretty cool, and it is a nice way of getting your ideas across.

Here is a nice paragraph on a review of Romanicing SaGa about its quest system. I will put here for self-reference. But it would be nice to have GW's future quest style follow some of it.
Quote:
Once you finish the introductory quest (or series of quests) for a character, the game leaves you feeling nearly as high-and-dry as if you'd just stepped off the prison ship into Morrowind's Seyda Neen. But the world is not empty of things to do or places to see - not at all. The player is encouraged to see the world and to move from city to city, discovering rumors and stories and legends all the while. Some NPCs may give bits of information that are simply for flavor; another might know part of a rumor while still another has heard a different piece. When important rumors are heard, they're automatically stored in a quest journal that categorizes all relevant information the player has come across. Some connections between rumors and quests may be obvious, while others are obscure (indeed, sometimes a little too obscure for my taste). In either case, enough exploration will always yield the next step in a chain of hints. Fetch quests end up being the end result of such a chain more often than not, but they don't feel out of place or antiquated here. They feel at home - they're just the way the game does its thing. |

Thanks for posting that, Actionjack. I love the ideas you put down there. I'm a PvE enthusiast, so all the things you mentioned sound like they'd be a lot of fun to play.

Like what each idea concept is? Would you also mind putting them in the main idea thread? I dont understand all the concept but it seems it would actually make the game more interesting if a few of them where added. Not sure how NPC Personalities would get implemented sounds a bit too complicated. The Enemy AI could really use a boost though. And Randomness sounds really sweet and dynamic.
