Updating items in/out of current inventory - discussion

Usually, I don't bitch that much about the game, since I think ANet is doing great. I haven't had a game I like so much for years, but one thing is bothering me really much.
I don't get why they're doing this.. ANet keeps deleting/changing items, but they don't delete/change the ones in the inventory. I'm not really sure how many items changed have yet, but for example take the old Henge of Denravi +5 Energy Sword, or the Rockmolder. I don't mind ANet deleting/changing items, though, I do mind them not deleting/changing the ones already in someone's inventory. Eventually these items will only be property of the people that are rich now, and people that just started, will never have a chance of getting these. What if these items will get really good in an upcoming build? That would make the game pretty unfair.

the rockmolder needs a whipe, even though only prestige-mesmers may know how to use it correctly!
For the +5 energy sword, hehe, i saw a Mo/Me walking around with it who proudly added +30 hp to it, he sucked!
dont forget were talking about a +10% chance for something being doubled, not a big difference at all.

Maxie: if you'd paid x thousand gold and the item got wiped in your inventory, THEN you'd have legitimate cause to mind.
It's not like it really matters any.

The old Rockmolder is the only item with the +20% skill recharge on all skills, this is a mod that is very good, and very usable. If ANet will never add another off-hand with this this same mod, this item will be very wanted later in the game, and probably never sold.
Same goes for the HoD sword, alot of Warrior sword builds can use this item, and so can alot of spellcasters. Keep in mind, a 20/20 staff with a perfect Insightful (+5 Energy) mod and a perfect Fortutide (+30 Health)/of Enchanting (Enchantments last 20% longer) is worse then a HoD sword with a perfect Fortutide (+30 Health)/of Enchanting (Enchantments last 20% longer) and a 20/20 Focus. The 2 Energy will probably not matter to you, but it matters, and making the option to get perfect impossible for some builds, is lame, if you ask me.
You're right, I agree with that. It doesn't change that it's very unfair like this too. Why don't they just let the items be like they were? If they're trying to solve imbalance, this is a completly wrong way, this only makes things more imbalanced.

the sword doesn't matter. the rockmolder was changed for VERY good reason. if too many people had gotton it with the 20% recharge then the game balance would have been thrown out of wack. basicly group with molder has overall advantage over group w/o molder.
i don't know if they changed it fast enough though since it took them an entire month to correct it.
molder is great for touch rangers and all sorts of classes not just mes.
maxi the sword + off hand only adds 2 more energy than a 15 e staff. IW mes can use it and solo monks. runners used them but didn't "need" the upgrade part.

YES THEY DO! Nah, you're right, the HoD sword isn't that important. Though, maybe it'll become important soon
But the old Rockmolder, that's a whole different story, it improves many builds, even my Monk loves it.

Fear me I R the uber trapper Ranger with the +5 energy +20 enchantments sword in my right hand and the 20% recharge rockmolder in my left hand!
a sword stays a sword and +1 illusion magic stays +1 illusion magic.
the game is fine, stop perverting it and small imballances wont matter!

On the Rockmolder it's not about the Energy nor the +1 Illusion Magic. I'm a Mo/N and this item is still Perfect for me. And I can imagine every class has at least one build that loves this off-hand.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware the bonus still worked without 9 illusion, but it does. I just tested it. Now to get the matching cane.. *does a happy dance*

I feel making the HOD sword uncraftable was a very poor move on Anet's part. If i remeber correctly, anet wanted this to be a game in which you have to grind for hours on in to get the best items. But HoD technically is the best item for monks and it goes for 40 ectos nowa days. So why did they make it where you have to grind to get the "best weapon for monks". Also even tho the sword only give +2 energy and 20% longer enchants from a one-handed weapon, but combined with the 20/20 healing anhk and ill take it over a staff any day, seeing as how there isnt a 20/20 healing staff
Maxiemonster
HoD is far overrated for monks. Monks really need to start focussing on Energy managemant. People even spam 'Healing Monk (74 Energy) LFG for XXX', that means they run the +15 Energy, -1 Energy Regenaration items, which are totally useless. If you got your Energy Management right, you can even use Judge's Armor for example, something a most Monks don't even think about, because they think they need Energy.
unienaule
40 ectos? where? I'll sell you or anybody else one for 40 ectos! Oh and yeah, it's one of the things they don't mention in the manual, or anywhere really. Energy management >> energy reserve.
Maxiemonster
Wait about 4 months, and you'll got 100 ectos Don't think many people will offer 40 ectos now though..
