Ranger Pet based build

This is my 1st attempt at a build.
Please be honest, if I'm off-base let me know. If you can see where it might be strengthened, I'm all ears.

I used The Edge building tool with 10 points in Beast Mastery, 11 in Marksmanship and 10 in Protection Prayers. Again this is my 1st build so if numbers should be altered, go for it.

Ranger/Monk

Obviously we start off with:

Charm Animal(no description needed)

Followed with:

Call of Haste: For 30 seconds, your animal companions have 25% faster attack speed and move 33% faster than normal.

It's a toss up on the next one:

Call of Distruption: For 30 seconds, attacks by your animal companions have a 35% base armor penetration and have a 16% chance of disrupting spells when they hit.

Or...

Call of Brutality: For 30 seconds, attacks by your animal companions have 35% base armor penetration and deal 9+ damage.

(I need some insight on those ^)

Comfort Animal: You heal your animal companion for 76 health. If your animal companion is dead, it is resurrected with 42% health and all your skills are disabled for 8 seconds.

I chose this one to cover the res factor and healing my pet as well.

For my Elite skill I chose Barrage: All your preparations are removed. Shoot at up to 5 enemies near your target. These arrrows strike for +12 damage if they hit.

This is obviously to wear down the adds I'll get.

Next up is Hunters Shot: If Hunter's Shot hits, you strike for +16 damage. If this attack hits a moving foe, that foe begins bleeding for 20 seconds.

I chose Life Bond next to mitigate damage.

While you maintain this enchantment, whenever target ally takes physical damage, half the damage is redirected to you. The damage you receive this way is reduced by 21 points.

I was also thinking of switching this with Symbiotic Bond:

For 240 seconds, your animal companion gains +1 health regeneration, and half of any physical damage dealth to your animal companion is redirected to you.

I thought by switching Life Bond for Symbiotic Bond I might throw in...

Live Vicariously: While you maintain this enchantment whenever target ally hits a foe you gain 9 health.

Or Healing Breeze or Healing Seed.

Or possibly...Mending would follow: While you maintain this enchantment target ally gains health regen of +3.

I don't have experience beyond my 1 Beta event so whatever would be most potent for PvE that's what I'll go with.
Mending would be ideal if I could throw it on my pet and myself.

Keep in mind that this is a PvE based pet build.
I had to type quickly because my 11 month son is trying to eat everything in sight.

Thanks in advance once again.

Ok. I've seen some good pet builds that are mo/ra. If you arn't going to be using expertise, then a monk build is probably better way to start. Overall, the animal husbandry line is just below smiting, and a touch above death magic on the scale of usefulness. The problem with animals is that you can't tell them where to go... and the shouts really don't help much. The best use I've seen (of pets) is having two skills: charm animal and revive animal -- both of them without investing any skill points.

I chose Ranger primary for the armor.
It's difficult to imagine a monk wielding a bow, just my thoughts.

I'll be soloing most of the time do to time constraints, if this isn't a viable build, what would be more effective?

Thanks,

The expertise line is just too good to pass-up if you are a ranger; if you
absolutely want animals and protection line, then you should use a 4 attribute spread:

marksmanship: 11
expertise: 9
animal stuff: 8
protection: 8

Thanks for the helpful info CCE.
Maybe I'll twink with it and see what it looks like with 0 animal stuff.
I'll mess around with the Expertise line and see what looks good.

Any suggestions on another possible Solo PvE build I may be overlooking?

Thanks again,

S. Rex reviewed a R/W - Beastmaster build:

That should help a little. It doesn't hurt to visit the home page now and then.

in my opinion... symbiotic bond is worst than ether lord... it truly is... (it doesnt redirect dmg on u to the pet... just pet to u)

dont worry about pet dying too much, even in PvE... just 1 comfort animal and ur pet would be fine rest of the way... instead, buff ur pet with like... strength of honor and the calls... and what was that holy dmg enchanment spell called...? cant remember on top of my head.

remember that u wont be able to use mending and sybiotic bond, u wont get +4 health regen, so id say fo life bond and mending, then call of brutality over other. in truth id prob say get rid of life bond all together and go for somethin else. im not a ranger expert but im saure u could find a better skill, say tigers fury, will let u attack faster. i might get rid of barrage i guess its ok, but ppl will learn to not group most likely.

so heres what i got for your build...

charm animal
call of brutality
call of haste
tigers fury
barrage or cripplin shot
hunters shot
comfort animal
mending
