weapon damage vs speed

What are the tradeoffs between weapon damage vs speed? It looks like hammers do the most damage per second but swing the slowest. Does a slower weapon make it more likely for skills to be interrupted?

I'd say the biggest difference you'll see is how fast or slow adrenaline fills with different swing speeds. Over time i think the hammers have a lower damage per second amount and a slower adrenaline filling speed, and yes you'd be more likely to get interupted if you take longer to swing, since that's the gap during which people can interupt you.
