The Ninja profession HAS been confirmed it is not a fake. But we know there has to be more than one profession cause Gaile and ArenaNet all say so. All I can think of are these:

Alchemist, Lancer, Brawler, Templar, Herbalist.

Got any more?

i see the need for a new type fo melee proffession, maybe one with spears and lances and the like

the whole assasin thing kinda bumbed me. i woulda thought anet was smarter than to give in to the ninja temptation

For ideas, there's Sardelac Sanitarium, and there're a ton of them there about new professions. For speculation, well, it's anyone's guess, and there're plenty of threads for that, including but not limited to;
