zealous bow of fortitude
kc99
So I was out doing some quests last night at piken square (the dukes daughter btw) and got some guys to help me out and do the quest also. So i met a very nice lvl 20 ranger who tagged along and helped out and also gave me a great bow (thanks raven ). I was asking him about the equipment he used etc, and he told me he had a zealous short/long/flat bow of fortitude the stats were very nice but he logged before i could ask him where he got it.
So does anyone know where i can get one apart from paying 100k or something for it. I know there are three types also, long short & flat so are they drops or rewards? And where should i look for one?

I did a check for this and the quickest way would probably be to just find collectors later in the game with max dmg bows, then customize them.
Zealous anything of Fortitude would be my weapon of choice.
Right now, I'm trying to get
Zealous Half Moon of Fortitude
Zealous Flatbow of Fortitude
Zealous Longbow of Fortitude
I have a 13% stance dmg increase Zealous Hornbow of Shelter [damn, can't find any fortitude +30 grips ;_;]
It was funny running into people telling me that Zealous mods suck. I was hoping they'd give me theirs for free...

The cheapest way to get a good bow is to get a collectors bow and upgrade it yourself.

Look at the very bottom at "Crystal Desert and Southern Shiverpeaks" for max ones.

You will need to get a Zealous string. Then go to your invetory and double click on the string. Then Click on the bow you want to put it on. If you already have a different mod on the bow it will ask you if your sure. Just click yes and your done...

It's also good to have a variety of strings on your bows. It can depend on where you're hunting. I totally agree with what Savio said about starting with collectors bows. Everything else is just a pretty skin. So half-moon = short bow, it just has a different look.
Strings are really cheap other than perfect vampiric or sundering strings which are a bit pricey. To start out you don't really need those anyways. A poisoners string, fiery (or other elemental string), and zealous string are a good assortment.
Zealous and elemental strings are either free or up to maybe 750g each at the most. They are really common.
A poisoners string is a bit less common and might run you from 750g to 1.5k depending on who is selling and how bad they want to dump their junk.
Sometimes it can be hard to find someone selling strings because they don't return a very good profit compared to hunting other items. The bow they are on often get sold directly back to the merchant.
Also read the bow faq on the main site. It has some really good information about the bows. With only a few exceptions a +5 AR bowgrip will be better for you than a +30 health bowgrip, and the armour bowgrip is a lot cheaper.

Fortitude vs Defense.
If all that EVER happens to you is you getting hit with attacks - then stat wise, yes def will keep you alive better.
BUT Fortitude is the more popular because it it has alot of indirect help that isn't factored in if you just say "someone attacked you for 40 dmg".
It protects against Armor ignoring moves and degen. Both of which of defense wouldn't help at all. It also takes less of an edge off of major and sup runes directly (giving some of the HP back).

I have gotten alot of bow strings in the desert mission on low damage bows just salvage the mod from the bow, you will lose all other mods or upgrades on that bow, but sometimes its worth it, Ex. a 15-25 halfmoon drop for me had a zealous string +5 armor or something, instead of selling it to the merchant i salvaged it and got lucky with the string. its not a perfect string but dam it works on my max dam 15-28 zealous halfmoom of fortitude
3+ energy

The desert is a great place to hunt bows. My best bow drop is from the desert, A vamp half moon +15/-10.
Former - yes I know the age old debate. a lot has to do with what and where you hunt and maybe your playing style. I have a fair number of hours logged on my ranger and have tried out both. Maybe it's just a personal preference and a playstyle preference. But I'm aware of the armour ignoring instances. That's why I said "with only a few exceptions". My main point is that a good armour bow grip is cheaper than a good health bow grip and not a bad place to start. Although you can get a 20 - 24 health grip anywhere from free up to around 750g, so that's not a bad option either.
OP - I know I have some strings, and maybe even some bowgrips you can have if you want. If you add me to your friend list it will show which character I'm on and I will give you an elemental and a zealous string.
