After announcement of Chp.2 there is more and more things to do IN PvE, and PvP is getting more and more dissapointing for a casual player so the question is what do u like more PvE or PvP in GW? I myself all for pure PvE and 1v1 PvP!

I'm still in pve. I have to admit of being terrified of learning pvp though, something about hating being abused due to no knowledge of how to go up against people... and prefering to take a char I just spend hours on getting through the game and knowing how that char works into pvp.

And yes, I'm a casual player.

No mates, i am voting for the PvP thing of the game, because there you really interact with other ppl, vent/ts making build ..

i dont see making builds that much in PvE

purely pvp. gvg to clarify. because tombs and pve seem too similar to me. in tombs, you farm fame to get a nifty emote to show off, and in pve you farm gold to get nifty fissure armor to show off. granted, i do love my tiger emote and my fissure armor, but it just seems really mindless after a while with no real goal. gvg is for the greater good ^^

keep pve and pvp... it works, why take one away? there is always something you can do - either venture around tyria or hop to comp-arena for a quick challenge (which mostly ends up in 1on1-4) or get into teamarena & gvg... if you can stand rude people go to tombs. (no offense)
i never expected guildwars to cure my rpg-needs like the elder scrolls series or some other classics did.
well i gotta go to tyria O_o

I pve when i aitn pvping just to pass time but i found pve can get pretty repetivatie after a while, but still good. I prefer PVP because do it with my guild only and now each other and have a laugh ect so makes it more fun,im
r6 almost r7 and PVP owns although gettign annoyed with the use of IWAY which means you cant try really strange build because have to be rdy to counter IWAY.

Both. If you don't play PvP, you're missing out on over half the game. It's called a *Competitive* Online RPG, BTW.

I have the feeling that most people who *only* play RP mode would rather be playing WoW if they could afford it. PvP is really where Guild Wars excels.

GvG ftw! I like the variety of builds and strategies that you get when you GvG. Of course it really helps to be able to GvG a lot everyday . . .

PvP is ok. I like the random arenas. I just wish there was a way to limit for the lower level areas which are my favorite (Yak's Bend, Ascalon). I hate that people use end game equipment and armor and then feel the need to think they are better because they won. (Don't forget elite skills too)

So I am giving my vote for PvE. I always have loved the storyline and really I felt it was a bit short. Missions should have requirements like completing quests or something. Maybe dynamic missions where something changes depending on what quests you have done..

And Grimm I thought it stood for Co-opperative Online Role Playing Game (CORPG)

I started with pure PvE. At the time I didn't enjoy PvP at all. Over time, I started to enjoy PvP ... mostly because it's fun to experiment with builds.

PvP is my favourite - I actually feel some sense of achievement when winning - you have to be in a good guild to enjoy pvp though, or have lots of friends that play the game. Random Arenas can just be frustrating

I think GvG is great, it tends to have a lot less pointless abbuse than the tombs does, with exceptions. Tombs is fun, but last time I tomb'd with a PuG the rifts still existed - to enjoy pvp you have to be organised I find.

PvE is still great though - just gets repetitive after a while imo

I do both. Right now mostly PvP. But after a while I get tired of that and go back to PvE for a while, then back, etc....

When I pvp its mostly random since neither one of my guilds do much pvp....(when I'm on)

99% PvE.

Not enough variety in arena to keep me interested and tombs is full of ts/vent/must be rank 568!!!1

In PvE i can play wherever i want, without any hassle whatsoever and i get some cool items while i play.

get a group of friends / guildies together and go to a difficult zone and you can have an awesome amount of fun in PvE, regardless of how many times youve cleared that certain zone before

Fight boring, stupid monsters over and over and over with no degree of uncertainty of what lies down the road ahead - which, by the way, always exists. Because you know how unexplored unknown lands where only a few Ascalons have ever travelled have well paved roads and nicely kept pathes. Don't forget about the ravines and cliffs that constrict your every whim of exploration.

I enjoy the strategy involved within PvP, going in to tombs and killing (or getting killed) in a fast-paced battle. . .that is something I find highly enjoyable.

On the other hand, I don't have to worry about idiots spamming for rank3+ *iway* warriors (is that a joke? I mean really, common) when I play PvE, and the henchmen are both polite and quiet.

So both

Please bear with me on this, I have only been playing for just over a week!

I started with my character, as a PVP and then went out and sompleted some quests etc... I'm now post searing and at level 9.

What is the differenece between PVP and PVE? Are there different story lines? or is it just that in one you can choose to play with others?

I guess somone will pop in with RTFM but the manual to me did not make that much sense of it! Otherwise I would not be asking.

Since I am new to it I have not looked at arenas or anything like that, I just hook up with henchmen and go on quests, except for the odd hook up with a player to complete a specific quest.

I only play at weekends, sometimes the odd night here or there in the week so I don't think that a guild would want me should I be looking at going to the arenas? or do I just continue completing quests and following the story through once to understand how the mechanics of the system works?

In a quest with others I prefer that they do what they want to do and I follow along, had fun, my current character is N/W and the other person was a Me/E probably not a good combination but it was fun to play through.

I'm also the type of player that will go out and hunt down anything moving on a map, unlike others that just seam to want to go in and complete the quest and head back.

So all I'm trying to get at is, would my gaming experience be better with PVP or PVE or just because I started PVP character have I now become a loner?

Im 99.999% PVE. I only will do PVP if a guildie needs one more for a tombs group, and the occasional GVG. I have 6 PVE chars, one of each class across 2 accounts. 4 of them completed the game. Im still not tired of it!

Dark Alley [dR]

I prefer both. PVE can be fun as long as you dont make it monotanous. I normally do at least one FOw or UW run a night for easy exp/drops/exploring. Ill go back and redo missions ive done to help guildies/friends/anyone who asks me. In PVP it can get so broing nto havign a full guild group and havign to PUG sometimes or waiting to get into a group can take too long. Lately i have re-discovered the joys of running around in CA with different builds, refining my playing style. in short every game is basicalyl what you chose to make out of it. Ive always loved rpg's so in a way ill always like the pve aspect no matter how long and tedious it may be.

About 95% of the time I am doing PvE which I very much like.

But I like GvG the best, the reason I don't do that a lot is because my guild is small, rather casual and totally new so we still have to organise things better.

But I probably am gonna try tombs in the near future with my guild to

at the moment i am 100% pvp, kinda burned myself out fo pve completing with 4 charcters and farming insane amoutns previosuly. still got a mes at the desert and a poor lil ranger still stuck in pre-searing.

although underworld at some point might be a nice idea.

I have the classic 3:1 split with my characters
3 pve and 1 pvp
I enjoy both aspects, but if we're going on time spent playing each then its pve by a lot. I have a few "elite" freinds which keep me in tombs and teams and my guild was at rank 105 till we all went separate ways, so my pvp has been sliding and i just cant find any good pugs.

pvp and pve are very different. a pve character follows the storyline, and you do quests and missions to advance. a pvp character starts at lvl 20, and cannot do quests or missions, rather they can only fight in arenas against other players. also, you should definatley complete a pve character first, as your pvp characters only have access to the skills you've unlocked in pve.

Mixture of both PvE and PvP, increasingly less interested in pve now that been through it so many times.

Re: Sabretalon
: I think you may have mixed up PvP and PvE. When you are completing quests with other players or henchmen, and fighting monsters and things, that is PVE (player versus environment). Player versus player is arenas (random or team), tombs, or guild versus guild.

Your best bet is to continue along as you have been, playing through PvE a little while, learning the mechanics and gathering skills. Make some forays into low level arenas (at ascalon and yaks) to see if it appeals to you, but bear in mind those particular arenas are whack, since most/many people there are twinked out like crazy.

For a real sample of pvp (once you get the hang of the game a little bit, and unlock a few skills and items), try level 20 arenas at Lions Arch, Droknars, or Tombs, outside of Dragons Lair. If you're in a guild, try some unrated gvg too.

It'll seem wild and wooly at first, and you should expect to die alot. But keep at it (if it appeals to you), and you'll get the hang of it.

PVE period, because my team consists entirely of kids and grandkids, scattered all over. It's an adventure we can do together, without everyone shelling out $15 or so a month. They all have their own life with work, school and family, so don't have time to play a lot. Anyway, when two or more of us get a chance to team up, it is good fun.

When by myself, I use henchmen or run another game.

PvE for me. Working on my 4th ascended character. The various forms of PvP do not appeal. GvG is suicide for small guilds who can only try it occasionally, you die too fast to learn anything and I don't have two hours to spare trying to get into Tombs (would rather play 2 hours PvE)!
