Are you a giver or a taker?

Simple: Giver.
Beggers must go elsewhere, BUT, I like to give away things to newer (not lower, newer) players in the game, mostly upgrades or a weapon of greater use to them, but no use to me (bow 13-26 or 14-27, Hammer 18-32, etc...)
I am a Guild Leader and I give my Mates anything they need, so long as I have it. I just spent 9k on a Mate that just Ascended - on his Droks armor (armor and materials, runes, dye, etc...) I go on trappping runs into UW - Mates ride for free. FoW playtime? Mates ride for free, and some PUG players too.
I rather give than take, but, do I like having gold - YESSIREE!
If I had no gold, how do I help Guild Mates? or anyone or that matter?

I'll give items to guildies and help them pay for their Drok's armour and skills.
I am not fussed about becoming mega-rich. All my characters have 15k armour, which, IMO looks better than fissure armour, so I really don't need cash like that.
As to beggars, there are an amazing amount of level 20s who go around begging, and I find that ludicrous!

I just finished some fun holiday GW shopping for christmas :P and to my realization i found that i had no space so i gave my presents early to some ppl
Mostly i just leave drops on the floor or "accidentally" drop them and since i unlocked everything i usually give the guildies unid runes for them to unlock... except if they are sup vigor or abs (i rarely get now adays) wich then i just let them id it and give it back to me.

I like to help people help themselves, like Shanaeri Rynale said give a man a fish yada yada yada, but also when i get a good item, i am proud i worked for it, even if i have had help, so i would rather help someone have that feeling of achievement, rather then just giving stuff away. Ofcourse, like every rule, there are exceptions, but this is my "rule of thumb"

Über taker!
Joking, I pretty much help myself but I never take from anyone. I give on occation but I prefere to tell people how to get stuff rather than give them. In my previous guild I was alot more experienced than everyone else, so when they saw my 15k armor they just started begging. Crikey...
If I see people begging I pretty much just bash them and tell them to get it themselves. If newbies have by mistake salvaged their only sword thinking they still have it after a salvage, I'm happy to give them something.

I always give free stuff that's kinda hard to get.
Like a monk that needs 4 feathers or someone that needs plant fibers or so.
If I have them then I give them away. I go to ascalon area and give away minor runes to starting characters.
I notice that when I do that, its like karma, I sell the stuff I want to sell a lot faster

I give to guildies, sell really good stuff my guildies don't want cheap, and the rest goes to merchant.
I have stopped giving low-level players stuff because 1) it's hard to find a low-level willing to accept gifts (if I shout "giving away X" in Ascalon I invariably get a queue of lvl 20's in FoW armor and not a single low-leveller), and 2) I think it may spoil their enjoyment of the game.
After all, if I give them a gold weapon from the desert, they'll never need to look at a drop they get at least until the desert, probably the entire game.

im kinda annoyed at the ppl.. one in forge was spamming.. WTB 1 Parchment for 90 gold.. i got so pissed bought one for him and gave it free..
being nice or feeling sry i dunno.
as for free stuff.. everything i give to the guild is free.. even during FOW and UW.. and some missions.. guildies get dropss. like i have a few shards or ectos.. i dump like 1 or 2 and free for grabs.

I give away all green & gold items that I cant/wont use I find to my guildies & friends. They in turn do the same for me. I no longer give items away to anyone else tho. As others have stated... been taken advantage of to many times & I dont want to make the game to easy for the lowbies. Everything else goes to the NPC merchant.

Giver. When I get max damage weapons that are pretty common that I have no intention of trying to sell other than to a merchant, I'll usually go into ascalon and advertise that the first person below level 10/15 to message me can have it for free. Once in a while I'll get someone that PMs me saying they're new to the game and that they could really use a good weapon, so I'll save it and give it to them. I don't reward begging though. Asking once is enough.
I've given away probably close to 50 close to max fiery dragon swords this way because newer players tend to like them more and I get them all the time.

Kinda sad.
I do not give money, but I do give Purple, yellow, or any other color weapon (except blue) to players below lvl 10. Mainly b/c it's equipping them to help themselves.
I don't believe in running, but that's because most people are looking to go somewhere they shouldn't be yet. (I've done running before, and after having a character in a zone that they're not prepared for, I'm 100% against it).
Finally, I don't believe in deserters. If someone wants help with a quest, fine, but if they take off somewhere else (not on accident) or desert me, they're gone. Ignore list, and I don't help them anymore.
That's my criteria.
