ecto fluctuation

10:00 pm tuesday: ecto is 14k, shards are 4.6k
EDIT: in case people didn't notice, i mean not only to track long-term changes at the trader, but also day to day and hour to hour changes.
Ima be busy analyzing when I figure we have enough data, but anyhow, plz include the time and day when telling everyone the ecto and shard prices at trader. thx.

I noticed your comment about having enough data. You realize that for statistical purposes/calculations, you need hundreds if not thousands of price checks to get a real feel for the data fluctuation. Other than that, it looks to be a fairly simple bell curve problem. Even I should be able to do those equations. Luckily for you, data collection is fairly easy. I hope you have Excel.
Oh, if you want help with the calculations and/or excel, PM me.

I have excel, and I have plenty of time.
I figure 3 weeks at 2 observations a day will get me 1 set of complete data that's good enough to help with day trading.
Then i'll get another set, and another, and just keep going until I have enough to plot long-term rather than short-term cycles. The best way you can help is to post the ecto and shard prices at the trader at random times (close enough to the hour to be rounded though).
oh, and it's 10:00 thursday, 12/1, and prices are still 14k for ecto and 4k for shards.

Lots of people who play regularly and have played for months and months can tell you immediately what the ecto cycle is (if they want to), but I think you will find that profiting on it (day trading) is not practical compared to other ways to make the money, because an efficient market doesn't exist. You can trade to the material trader, but you have to overcome the "trading gap" spread, and you can trade to other players, but that takes too long to be worth the trouble and is particularly time consuming to do in the volume you would need to really profit.
surprisingly, trading for gold in 7 ecto chunks works well...
Anyhow, this is more out of interest than of profit, though cash on the side is always a factor
Actually right now it looks like shards are more profitable to trade in due to larger fluctuations, but maybe not since the demand is less. I haven't tried yet.
Anywho: it's 9:00 same friday, and the prices are still 15k and 3.8k.

Ahhh...now you know the complications of dealing in commodities versus cold hard cash.
At one time, it used to be gold items and sigils. Then ecto and shards. Now, it seems that more people are moving the sapphires and rubies.
It's the probably for you multi-millionaires...its funny how this game can mirror real life economics...
