A Positive Story That Nobody Will Read
Discord
So, I'm in Post Searing with 2 characters. A W/Mo that was gimped from day one because I had no idea what I was doing and a Mes/El that I have come to enjoy quite a bit.
I decided to transfer all of my worldly posessions to the Mes/El. Of course I couldn't transfer my gold. So I ran up to the highest level I could find (in my shorts, mind you) and asked if he could help me. I told him that if he held my 158 gold until I brought my other character on, he could have 50 for himself.
I might as well say that I fully expected the gold to be gone when I logged back in. But it would be gone anyway when I deleted the character, right? So what did I have to lose? And I did look for a person with a non-idiot name who was in a guild as well. Sort of hedging my bet, you might say.
I know 158 gold isn't a lot in this game, but as a new Post Sear character my mes/el had just upgraded all his stuff and every little bit would help.
So I came back to the same district and the guy was there waiting for me. He took 8 gold. He refused my repeated offers of 50 more. Then he asked me if I'd like to join his guild. I respectfully declined, since I was thinking of joining another guild at the time. Then he was gone.
Out of forum respect I'll not mention his name. But S**K****, you know who you are. Thank you for rekindling my trust in human nature. I /bow to you again sir.

That's something I wouldn't expect, though teamwork is important here, you never know who will swindle you out of even the littlest gold and items you have.
Very nice of them, and Kudos as well. Glad it worked out well for you too.
>^_^<
EDIT: Same as they say below >^o^<; Always here to help if I can!

If anyone asks me something in a non-annoying noobish manner (not using the word plssssssssssss-etc.), I'll probably do it if I got time.
Kudos to him.

It's good to know there are decent folk out there.

I remember a while back I got someone handing me 1 million credits in AO to transfer to his other account and I'd get 100k out of it. So damn tempting to just run off with the million, but I stood my ground and handed him back his 1m :>

Twinking was pretty common in EQ.
On the server I played, it was okay to twink without a tip, but you paid it back by helping others twink.
I was on a good server.

But maybe it costs more to be dishonest.
I'd like to think that more people would wait for a noob to get his alt out and then transfer whatever limited funds that he asked, than there would be assholes that would say sure and then log with his minor amount of gold.
I say honesty 4TW!!

Seeing as how everyone plays on the same "server," it would pay to maintain a decent reputation. Should go a long way toward making the playerbase somewhat trustworthy.

Aye an ohnost person is a rareity, i was swindled out of 600g and a few items, when creating a new charachter *sigh*, but new fights, new groups, and my own guild, i have made friends and alliences with many abound...

I do stuff like that all the time. One of my fave things to do is give ppl stuff. I love giving ppl good items(that I cant or wont use) not only because it makes those that recieve the items happy, not only because it makes me feel good but also because I HATE the traders in cities spamming chat constantly, ripping ppl off & so forth. I despise player traders so much that I mute them & since they spam global as well I mute global in some towns too. Like seared Asc City or Lions Arch. The trade spam is bad in both places.
I also like to show new ppl how to get to places & what not. Ive even been known to toss new ppl gold & trade items so they can upgrade. Im rich(compared to a new person) I can afford it.
NEED BEFORE GREED.

Nice to see a few good people still out there. I just don't have it in me to swindle people, especially after I got swindled a couple nights ago I wanted to reach through my monitor and rip the dudes throat out.....yes even though it's just a game.
Either way though, I did read your story and glad to hear there are a decent few still out there.

I was on the other end of such a deal, only 223 gold but I respectfully took the money and transferred it to the person when they logged back in with no pay. I did question the ethics of such a system, it essentially makes it unfair for new players as completed characters have much equipment and can use their guild to transfer funds to lower end chars to get "better". This I feel is a fault with the game, I don't think it's really controllable though, and if I can't help those who need help to beat the guys who sit there all day doing this kind of stuff then who will

Well, so we have some honesty, but we also have manners, believe it or not, well at least in pre searing. i spent about 2 hours under a tree in fobles fair, helping everyone who asked a question. And you know what? all of them said thanks. ALL OF THEM.
Good community FTW !

Someone else with half a mind, gasp!
Seriously, I dont know why anyone WOULD take that bit of gold. I know it was important to your charachter, but to be honest, if anyone did.. I'd find a way to hunt them down.
Somehow.
I just would. For utter stupidity. OH NOEZ YOU STOLED 158 GLOD!

lol i do this all the time in sacred. its good to know people can be trusted. I too usually just give away good stuff, or at least sell it cheap, because its doing me no good sat in a pack. and as long as the person who gets it isn't obviously a total idiot then its good to see them using it. I see no problems with holding things for people; if im in a rush fair enough but usually muling like this takes no longer than 5 minutes, if that.

I help people out like that all the time. I even waited 20 minutes while a newbie I was escorting around pre-searing went to go pick his mom up from work.
And players giving their new accoutns their items and gold isn't that big of a deal to me, because I don't play against them. I never enter the arenas, and if they own on a quest, fine, because the items still drop and I still get my exp. I'm not with them 24/7, so it doesn't become cheap. I'd prefer a stronger group on the harder quests anyway, I'm not really into wasting my time.
