Canthan Targe
Lord Snow
What do you guys think?
Is it worth keeping this shield? Or should I start looking around for another one? (primarily PvE for the moment)

Hot Dead
You need at least 3 attributes to be able to use this shield nicely, either sell it or use it on a warrior that has 10 tactics, 8 strength, and 8 swords/axemastery
I would sell it if I was you

Yea this is one of the preorder items. Pretty much worthless. Id get rid of it and get the crimson carapace shield from the collector(dont remember where he is). Its a lot better.

there's nothing wrong w/it if he already happens to use str/tactics.
I keep about 3 shields on me and switch them around.

1> Tactics is defense/stancing. Aka reducing their effectiveness of melee/ranged attacks
2> Strength is for armor penatration and doing damage. Quite the opposit of what tactics was designed to do.
If you put lets say, 10 into both, your skill bar is going to be a mess of stances/running skills/damage skills. I'm not including a second profession in this, just a warrior primary.
Using both when you don't need it, is wasting the possibility of those attributes NOW being used for something other, like weapon masteries.
I doubt any sensical warrior is going to go 10+tact/10+str/10+weapon masteries just to get the benefits...from..that shield.
my 2 cents.

Notice that it is customized so selling is not an option. I like it, wish I had one...

I'd NEVER on ANY occasion keep them both full of attributes. Why?

think you posted your 2 cents in the wrong thread.
this belongs in the build forum.
ps
it would seem to me that any warrior is going to have a high weapon level, so I have no idea what that has to do w/it.
but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
your post is overvalued.

It's a preorder item, you can discard it into your trash can and get it back later by using the /preorder command in your chat window.
quickmonty
It would be a good shield for a runner.
Lord Snow
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I'm currently running around with like 8 str, 12 swords, and 9 tactics so I thought it wouldn't be too bad. My curent shield is 16AL req 9 tactics with +7 vs piercing and I'm not sure which to use for the most part haha.
Really?? O.o

ok, besides the fact that shimus really hates your build, you're basically looking at a small energy + 30 health vs armor tradeoff, I guess, right?
it is kind of tough, and I think I would base my decision on a couple things --- what are you fighting (if they use piercing, I'd go w/the other one one), and do you have a problem getting killed off a lot (I'd use this one).
generally speaking, I'd advocate armor over health, and I wouldn't drop your sword just to get another level of tactics to use a shield, so I'd probably lean towards the 16 you already had.
that extra 9 vs piercing would FAR outweigh the 30 health, imo, if you fight piercing.
rock on, my sword brother.

Negative. I don't hate it; it's just not..well..lets say balanced to a build I'd use. In which case I give advice. But hey, if he plays it, and plays it well, it's not my place to say anything. I was merely suggesting that he'd be better off focusing on primarily 2 warrior lines and a secondary profession.

Actually for running around in PVE, thats a good shield. I know a few people that use that shield. still id rather have the prism over the shield.....

I like diversity, and yaaay, swords rock XD
But in regards to the topic at hand, I'm still undecided. But the fact that I can get it back at any time just by typing "/preorder" rocks XD

I think its awesome because you can activate two of the three things easily. Most PVE warriors have points into tactics strength and a weapon of their choice. And the energy boost is helpful.
Claymore
Before the launch of the game you could preorder your copy of guild wars, when you did there was a unique item not found in gameplay reserved for you in your inventory, I have the same shield as well.

That depends on you. In pvp where people know how to ignore your armor and shtuff, Canthan only looks cool while you're dying.
However, as far as a pve shield is concerned, Canthan Targe is king... If you're going into pve and want to do something nasty to the mobs, you can't beat the Canthan.
I forged a powerful warrior of axe with this setup with my Canthan.
10+1+1 Axe Mastery
9+1 Tactics
7+1 Strength
10 Curses
12/10/10/8 - strong pve balance, but not as powerful as
16/9/8/8 - my pvp build, used with a str shield with Fear Me! as a dias weapon.
16/9/10 - high curses for massive enchant stripping as well as other options if needed...
Not only do you get all the benefits from the canthan [who cares about the extra 2 for another weapon mastery, sheesh! ] It gives you a very healthy dose of hp that coincides well with a fortitude mod and your sup. vigor rune. You can be sitting on 700+ hp if you have all the right gear and skills. As a PvE shield, the Canthan is by far the best money can buy [through a preorder ;p]
I saw the stats for the Ithas Bow and the War Pick. Not that good from what I hear...

I think you need a better sheild. I personally would rather have the max collector sheild. Either one over this.
Lou
I think its the best pre-order items unless you count the coke korean items. And the health and energy boosts are nice especially since I usually have strength and tactics in PVE.
