Armor Sets/ Professions

All,

new player here. I just got the game last week. So far its pretty cool, I'm playing the standard WA/MO class to get the hang out of it. Two questions, does having a complete "set" of armor provide any distinct bonuses? (Like in Diablo 2)

Also, the non "heavy hitter professions" like Mesmer, and Necro, don't seem to get a lot of use in the game. I never get teamed up with anything but a WA/MO, or the occasional Elementalist. While I admit I'm new and don’t know the full details of the game, but it seems like there is a basic flaw with classes if no one wants to play them. AT least in D2 there was a pretty even mix of classes.

Any thoughts?

Mesmers and Necros can be heavy hitters. The difference is that they aren't straightforward characters. You need to understand their spells and effects to a greater degree to be successful.

Consider them the 'advanced' classes, where as W/Mo tends to be a popular starter class (no insult intended) because your role is more clear-cut.

And, no, there is no bonus for a full set of one armor type.

A necro is cool to play with all the fun you can have. I like exploding corpses in thick groups of enemies heh.
