Since the monsters in normal mode received a brain de-buff perhaps you can block them off again? I miss using the old enfeeble build.
I've been too busy with Hard Mode to even see what it's like on normal mode down there.

Shield of Judgement <---the heavy hitter...just..ouch...knockdown plus direct damage...
Smite Hex <--hexes make you go boom. cuts through armor and is AOE...not good...
Zealot's Fire <---all the above spells activate this pain in the butt.
So you cant hex DOT, you cant condition DOT, you certainly cant direct attack unless you want to get clobbered by SoJ and it will eat you up.
However as Racthoh build shows us, their weakness is their melee attacks.
Im wondering...is it possible to bring some other skill here?
Sympathetic Visage maybe?
they're biggest weakness is relying on enchantments... thus you can use all sorts of massive enchantment removal skills such as OoA, DA, AE, AoG, etc removing RoF every time before it takes effect make killing smites much easier...

After several tests in normal and hard mode uw I have personally concluded that; An extra stance is not needed intead of DBlow to handle two Aatxes at once (after seeing Racthoh's W/E vid), although it's pretty difficult if you get unlucky gashes through Bonetti's, etc, Aatxes can be soloed 1v1 in hard mode, but it is hard. I think two can be done at once if you take the extra stance, although luck will play a major part in your success; i.e. there is absolutely no room for accidental sword attacks, gashes through bonetti's, heal sigs without AoE + WY! + Dolyak up and such.
I might also note that when attempting to do anything in hard mode you should aggro the group of Aatxes first to pop any nightmares and run behind Benton (or simply back out of their chasing range), pull out a candy cane wand or a r8 earth wand and kill the nightmares; you will die if a nightmare spawns in HM and you've already hit Dolyak and Glad's.
Hmmm.. gl hf, I hope we can somehow solo uw in hm
Some screens (I'm bored -_-V, and have no clue if my screens will work)
EDIT: Sorry the screenshots are big, but you'll be happy to know:

I've been doing this too again today and tanking 2 aatxe's in NM is still easy. Don't really need the extra stance altough it helps. I also use a zealous spear to keep my energy a bit up since I'm never that long in bonnetti's anyway (and I just like zealous ).
However, tanking aatxes in HM is very very hard and like you said, alot depends on luck. I don't think it can be done without the extra stance since with their increased attack speed their adrenaline charges faster and alot of gashes (and with that sever artery's ofcourse) slip through the stances. Also, it looks like they have like 10 more points in swordmanship than their brothers in NM cause they hit alot harder. Even with soldiers defense on I died while tanking 2 aatxe's, where I could easily survive on NM...
1 aatxe in HM is no problem whatsoever, just 2 is too much I think...

Lol yeah, the NM was owning me D:

Ok, I have serchead high and low for this elusive W/E UW Solo build using search options available and the good ol' trawl through the thread and found nothing.
Judging by the screen above the skillset is as follows:
Dolyak Signet
Armor of Earth
Watch Yourself!
Soldier's Defense
Gladiator's Defense
Bonneti's Defense
Healing Signet
Deadly Riposte
So, what attributes and weapons does one need?
EDIT:
After more scrutany I have these Attributes:
Tactics: 16 (12 + 1 + 3)
Strength: 9 (8 +1)
Earth Magic: 10
Just weapons to go... The sword, only needed for Deadly Riposte, is pretty much anything I guess so I can use my Forgotten sword, bow for pulling, well.. just a bow really, I have a Tactics attributed Exhaulted Aegis, is that any good? All I really need is a wand of sorts. =/

I'm guessing that you'll max Tactics and put the rest into Earth and Strength or something.

The attributes are the same as the W/N, you're just changing curses for earth magic.
You won't want to use the forgotten sword; +5 AL is much better over the +30 health for this build. I would definately use -2 in stance over -5 (20%) as well.

ok the build is quite hard in HM.
I can play it with 2 stances in NM without probs. So i've tried an old build in hm that works quite well for aatxes
sry for the german client

Dopefish can u post attributes and what each skill is. I would like to try it.
14 Jun 2007 at 11:10 - 381
I hate it when people just wanna copy past builds from the forum...and don't think for themselves. those skills are signet of midnight, epidemic, mantra of inscriptions, deadly riposte, empathy, dolyak, healing sig, spirit of failure.
Anyway I've did something familiar in the past but I find it was far too slow and far too much mesmer still gj

Well with the armour cap coming, that might be the only way now.

I'm working on a similar build close to that one, however its for 2 man UW farming in HM. So far this is as close as I got My objective Is to clear the coldfires and smites aswell.
PS: Screenshot is a reference to how the build looks so far

So I guess this is the end of this eh, with the armour nerf.
15 Jun 2007 at 08:22 - 385
The way I read it, single skills can still bring the + armor above 25, but more skills with less than 25 can't bring it above that max lvl. So I guess this should still work.
15 Jun 2007 at 09:42 - 386
I see what you mean too. So if your WY! gives +24 armour, say, you can just push it to 26 and it's all fine? If so,
15 Jun 2007 at 11:23 - 387
Ye, but 26 armor is not enough against the rage of these aatxes I doubt also if armor of earth @ 12 earth is enough (53 armor) against them, we probably need more evasion. and if it ever happens you get interrupted, you're f*cked bigtime. agaínst terrorwebs it would be not enough too...I'm afraid.

Go in with a dual attune ele with blinding flash and do it W/N with enfeeble. just like old times

But... that's not solo?
I was going to try something with Dolyak + There's Nothing To Fear, but it got a hit before I could try anything.
21 Jun 2007 at 07:54 - 390
Perhaps you could use Enfeebling Blood with Shield Stance and hope your 75% chance of evasion can negate two Savage Slashes. Using Deadly Riposte, too, you shouldn't get interrupted too often. I was also thinking of a Grenth's Balance build (purely for the Aatxes as Smites would take too long) with Riposte + Deadly Riposte and stances.
I've been too busy with exams to try any though.
I wish ANet would bring back the stair blocking.

well i was bored today and played a few old fow/uw builds that have been released before factions (good old days ).
I don't now if anyone has mentioned this before but you can play the old build again if you use the ghosts like this:
i know it's not as cool as in old days but it's still quite fun to kill some bulls.
With sprint you can skip the Groups on the way to the Smites.
Because that was too easy i tried it a step harder
Neither NM nor HM are really worth the dropps but it's a funny challenge for all who prefer fun from loot

im guessing this build is no longer viable......

Very impressive. You showed a lot of creativity with this which is unfortunately lacking in GW currently.
