We seriously need to get a fairer and faster price for all items

I've been away from GW for some time, i played WoW for a while and now i've returned but i see that this game hasn't changed one bit, it's only gotten worse.
Black dyes sell for at least 8k? WTF? in beta you'd get flipped off if you asked more then 1k for any dye and now? and of course all the other dyes sell for 10-100 max -_-. But this isn't even my main problem, this is supposed to be an action game, not a stand-around-shouting-and-trying-to-sell-your-items game, i have dozens of purple weapons and components and i haven't been able to get rid of anything since months, if i had the equilevant of every of my items in WoW i'd have my elite mount before being able to buy my normal mount but here i've only got around 18k in total and a storage fulla sweet stuff.
It may be that Anet is just playing smart: if we get rich much easier we'll buy all their expensive farm-a-lot armors and thus be finished with the game earlier but if that is truly the case then i will do everything in my power to make sure that this game goes down for ever.
My suggestions: Have merchants offer fair prices or at least make a decent components trader.
I can't belive anyone actually takes the time and does not get bored to tears trying to sell their expensive items, i've got better things to do then just stand around and either see my offer dissappear in the flood of offers in a few seconds of get flamed because i'm shouting it too much.
Discuss if you want, and i'm sure such threads have been made before, but this is surely the biggest problem GW has, annoying children and retards aside.

yes.. I got this "price shock" the last time I came back to the game.
And your purple item won't sell much now... sad to say. (unlike the old days) Price Inflation is not a laughting matter
Just wait for the auction house or a merchant district.

i only try to sell purples if they are supreme maxed out and hard to find, cause if not ppl want it gold or green....they prefer gold it seems. I usually just salvage the purples since they are considered crap. OR I give them away to newbies. An auction house would not hurt but people will find ways to outbid you and make it unfair. I know I bring it up alot but there are still those with thousands of ectos from the dreded price reset to make prices normal....or steady, which it did in long run. Remember when black dye was 30k per vial? well people bought ectos for 100gp each and stocked up, I am sure they still have em for forms of cash. They will own the auction house.

I also think people should learn to keep to standard prices, if you post something in the WoW auction house that is above the standard you only have the slightest chance to have it sold unless it's completely sold out.
What i find strange is that people have been asking for an AH or somesuch since the game came out but there still is no effective trading system in place since.

Purples are rarely bought nowadays, mostly Golds, some Greens, it's just good looks, perfect mods, bows, swords, axes, hammers, etc.

Thing is when an auction house comes along the over 100k sales will be gone at least from the auction house. So, that will be a good thing. And people will flock to the easiest form of trading so it will be popular and those that still want to hawk their wares won't have many listeners.
The bazaar is really what saved EQ until POP, being able to have a 2nd account and setup a mule to sell max 30 items was great. And I really do think there should be a max of items set for GW"s bazaar/auction system. And a good way to lookup what you wanted by item and or stats (individually) really streamlined buying and for the seller, selling. It also brought prices WAYYYYY down on highly priced items a few people would gouge people with. It will be good for the economy when it happens. I just hope it's like EQ's bazaar and not like SWG's bazaar/auction, because you had to scroll through much junk to find what you were looking for in SWGs. EQ you could list best quality first to last and prices highest to lowest. It was best.

Agreed with all of your ideas. My problem with all the selling that is going on is trying to get a group together in those towns. I mean "sweet Jesus!" it's not about who has the most money wins. They don't have a ranking for people with the most cash. How much shit can you actually sell? How much money is enough? I have a job, and coming home to sell stuff sure seems like work.

Uhm... GW is an action game. The only one whose made it a selling game is you. To participate in the action portion of the game, there is no requirement to trade with any other player.
You don't need 15k armor to be competetive in PvP. The 1.5K (Droknar) armor is statistically identical. Sell your stuff to the merchant. Buy the "non-perfect" (but statistically indiferrent) mods for a few gold and get to the action part of the game.

I, for one, cannot wait for them to roll out the auction house. As far as I am concerned I cannot sell anything until that happens. Oh, I've tried selling through the trade channel, but it's far too tedious and needs a huge amount of patience to actually sell anything; more than I'm willing to spend on a medium that's meant to be fun. And even when you do sell something, you really have to know the market to tell if you're getting ripped off or not.
I remember the EQ bazaar. You could compare your prices with others. Then you could post your wares and not have to stay at your computer. Of course, an auction house takes this one step further by removing the neccessity for your character to be present at the point of sale all the time.
Still I think the best feature is that everyone would be aware of the prices. Currently only people who are "in the know" know how much things go for, and they usually make you, the buyer, guess how much it goes for. If you offer too much, they take it. If you offer too little, they turn you away and try to find a "sucker" who will overestimate the price. If it's at all obvious that you don't know the price, they will rip you off. Pretty soon the rip-off price ends up being the standard price, and the cycle can begin again. In fact, I'd say prices on a lot of things are set by how high the ignorant are guessing.
And that bias toward gold items is stupid. When I'm finished modding my bow, it's going to be better than the greens, and it'll still be blue! And I've seen purples better than golds.

You post a message advertising for people to join you and then blink and it's gone because of all the spamming by people selling stuff. Not to mention they don't just stick to the trade channel but use the all channel as well. That was my point, seeing as how you missed it entirely.

I didn't see one complaint in that line....and then to think you "need" 15k armor blah blah blah. Nope, he made a statement and it was WRONG! *fellow GW player - ping-pong, greetings from your friendly neighborhood mod *

Sarcasm does not come through very easily in text. But I'm sure that was sarcasm.

Okay, i've been away from GW for some time, the 15k armor is identical to the 1,5K and lower, yes, i made a mistake.
One thing i understand the LEAST is why there is a trader and a trade channel, when i find a black dye for example i should be able to expect to sell it at a high price, forget it, it's always around 8k(not much nowadays, nor in the time where there were no traders) other dyes? don't bother selling them, the traders rule the price flow and so it becomes useless to sell runes, dyes and such to players since you'll never get a higher price then what the trader offers, nice thinking on Anet's part, btw.

Yeah, it's really bad if the only reason they allow certain things to cost so much is that once people have bought them they have no reason to play the game anymore, that would be a problem that should never have existed in the first place. And I think that probably is true.. but pvp in this game bores the hell out of me right now.

A Auction House may not fix things, but it will be better. An Auction Zone would take care of the chat problems. You are right... Some things are crazy priced (like black dye), but seriously, when you make a dye color that you know is going to be in high demand and then make it one of the most rarely dropped items in the game what do you expect? In games like GW rarity = value. Checked the prices on HoD Swords or Old Rockmolders lately? How bout that Crystalline? Rarity is ALWAYS going to be expensive in games like this. We all know that a Gladius 15%>50 with perfect mods isn't going to sell for as much as a Fellblade of the same stats. A-Net knew this was going to happen. It happens in all online games. As far as purple items go, yeah they are basically shop sell now, but this had to be expected. Wanna fix it? Make each of your 4 toons have a seperate storage. Maybe it wouldn't fix it completely, but it would slow it down. That would piss too many people off though. With my first toon I ran the game the way it was designed to be played. I did the missions in order and I did the quests as I found them before moving on to the next mission. I think most players do that with their first toon. I certainly took a run to Drok's with my next toons though. Would I have done that if I hadn't had access to the money my first toon had horded? No...

I think the economy is good as it is, it's like in real life, you can't buy everything unless you're extremely rich and you want to spend the money for it.
I don't see any expensive items that you MUST buy in order to win a mission or something.
I can do without a black armor, an expensive armor or that maxed out runes.
I just buy major vigors instead of sups, and when I get the money for it, I'll buy a sup for sure, but that's something to work for.
As for the whole trading and selling in the city's, I find this a good idea, just like in real life, marketing and on-street selling, nothing special about it, and if you happen to find someone who sells that max stormbow you always wanted to have, there you go, thank the marketing
