Customizing Question

This is my first post, but I need to know the answer to this question

When you find rare items, and the game message says you unlock "blah blah" that means you can salvage it for the upgrade component / rune. However, if you customize the item and use it, can you still salvage it later (once you dont need it) for the upgrade component / rune?

yes i believe you can but it will still be only a chance to get it back... so be careful before you put it on that really sucky weapon you found 3 levels ago

He's not talking about upgrade components, he's talking about customizing an item... increases damage by 20% but only you can use.
Yes, you can still salvage the item for what you would normally get from it. With this in mind, there's no reason not to customize any weapon you wish to use unless it's good enough to sell and you intend to do so after you are finished with it.
