New Replacement? Anti-Magic Knight W/Me
Yukito Kunisaki
Ah, why not step away from necro I thought... Would there be a nice cookie cutter style build for me to work on that's of W/Me origin?
That's a hard combo to put together without all these IW warriors popping up. [which are inefficient due to lack of 16 illusion... ]
Anti-Magic Duelist [pvp]
12+1+3 Swordsmanship
8+1 Strength
10 Inspiration
Seeking Blade [for cowards + bonus damage]
Hamstring
Sever Artery
Gash
Frenzy
Sprint
Energy Drain {E}
Drain Enchantment
Well, being sword, I didn't need 100 blades. [that and it's inefficient damage in my book] Keeping enemies out of enchantments and energy, though nerfed, is probably a good way to go.
Don't worry about enemy monk interference. Hopefully, your team can deal with that monk while you go out killing mesmers, eles, and necros. This is after all a dps based pvp build designed to kill using Seeking Blade spam on an enemy who's bleeding, deep wounded, and crippled. Your target should have lost an enchantment and be energy drained as quickly as possible. [since they have long recycle times, that's good for just whacking the crap out of them... ^_^]
For PvE, I'm at a loss. Can someone give me a hand on a W/Me capable of fighting hordes en masse?
edit* fixed the typo, I did mean Inspiration! ^_^

Physical Resistance, echo, cyclone axe, live vicariously and orders. Lots of orders. But thats team based.
Wouldnt a basic fear me bot outstrip this in most ways? A few sword energy attacks and boom, something happens after that.

I believe e. drain and drain enchant are inspiration, not illusion.
For pve... inspiration using resistance and ether feast. Not really great though.

Don't see anything "antimagic" here at all. Also frenzy usually equals to death in TA. Double damage from energy burns and the like.....
P.S. Yes they are inspiration.

if you want to be "anti-magic" as a warrior, did you try a hammer war? nothing makes a caster more mad then being constantly knocked down
seraphite86
Hammer warrior with Blackout always ruins my day.
Al the Dead
From my experience nothing makes caster more mad then being dazed. Luckily that condition is sooooo rare
Yukito Kunisaki
With the massive nerfing that's occurred to the Inspiration line, anti-magic is tough for me to label this guy but he does use his energy to spam his stuff by taking the magic from his targets... *bah*
I'd LOVE to use Fear Me! if it didn't take 2 skills to cause a deepwound with a sword. The Axe would rock regarding that but the sword's requirement for 2 skills to deepwound is probably one of the reasons why it didn't get a sword elite...
I think the stronger anti-magic abilities would lie in the curses or domination line under the e. degen skills and/or Energy Burn but those aren't only inefficient but cost too much energy for what you're trying to do...
At least after you toast 15e. spamming Seeking Blade + Hamstring, E. Drain can get you back more energy to do it again... However, due to the high average DPS a sword has, if you manage to spam all your energy attacks and adrenal strikes on one foe, if they're not dead, E. Drain them and just move onto a new target because they're being covered too well...

Couldn't you use the two mesmer signets, Signet of Humility and the one that drains energy from anyone nearby? I agree about frenzy in anything organized: it's a quick way to die if anyone's paying any attention to you. You could stick one of the signet mantras in there instead of frenzy. Of course, you'd need points in domination, too. I guess that wouldn't work without a few major runes at least.
Yukito Kunisaki
Sprint cancels frenzy. I get focus fired, blah, wasted if I'm awake and not lagging...
Ah, how about THIS! ^_^
new Anti-Magic Duelist [pvp]
12+1+3 Swordsmanship
8+1 Strength
10 Inspiration
Seeking Blade [for cowards + bonus damage]
Pure Strike [for bonus damage, the fact I'm in a stance is no big deal]
Savage Slash [interrupts, bonus damage]
Distracting Blow [interrupts, though no damage]
Frenzy
Sprint
Energy Drain {E}
Drain Enchantment
Now lacking deep wound, but making up for it using interruptor tactics. Pure strike still adds damage despite you being in a stance, it's just that if you're not in one, it's like a wild blow without crit or drawbacks but with bonus dmg...
With 3 skills that add bonus damage, feeding energy using Drain Ench. and E. Drain shouldn't be that big of a deal. During down time, using seeking/pure strike should be fine.
I'd still reconsider replacing something for Sever Artery at least since it's one of the warrior conditions which can kill you if not removed...

i actually tried something similar recently. i had fewer sword attacks but also had ether lord and "fear me" so that i could annoy their energy pool. not quite sure how good of a choice ether lord was, but i was just playing around with the build.
jesh
Ether Lord is okay for keeping their energy low, but.. not so great if you're looking to get anything out of it, energy wise.
For Pve.. Let's see..
Dolyak Signet
Sympathetic Visage
Physical Resistance
Elemental Resistance
Channeling
Hundred Blades {E}/Cyclone Axe
Defy Pain {E}/Watch Yourself!
13 strength, 10 Tactics, 8 Illusion, 10 Inspiration
Or..
13 strength, 10 Tactics, 9 Illusion, 9 Inspiration...
Should do the trick, right? Just make sure to use that zealous upgrade.

I just started running a Blackout build today in the arenas. It's decent.
Axe: 12
Str: 12
Domination Magic: 11
Bring Dom Offhand for extra energy, but always start with shield equipped.
1. Power Drain
2. Power Leak
3. Blackout
4. Disrupting Chop / Sprint / whatever
5. Penetrating Blow
6. Eviscerate {E}
7. Shatter Hex /Shatter Enchant
8. Rez Sig
If you don't have a reliable healer, then you could put about 7 points into Tactics and put Healing Sig in slot 7 (ie for CA). That's 4 attributes but oh well. Guess you could dump Strength if you had to.
The trick with this build is to get them with Power Drain and Power Leak, at which point they should be trying to react, then hit with Blackout. Start whacking on them then and they are in trouble. If you've brought Disrupting Chop, then you will be able to use that right after they have recovered from Blackout. If you're attacking monks, you can almost always hit one of your interrupts the second Blackout ends, because they will be in a big hurry to heal.
Problem with this build is if you miss interrupts (often happens with monks using quick skills) you miss your purpose and lost your energy, so you have to be careful. The good thing about this build is that it is very effective vs most casters, and Blackout can cause anybody trouble for 5-6 seconds.
Wanted to work Shame and/or Guilt in, but as W placing the essential cover Hex may be a little too much to ask.
I'm definitely open to any suggestions.
edit: Power Block would be very nasty vs monks with this build I see. I guess you could put it into either slot 4 or 7 and replace Evisc with another axe attack. Gonna have to get it to try it out. :P

Drain Enchantment Something I think you're missing here is that you're giving yourself energy, but you're not taking it away. Since you're a W, energy gain isn't top priority. Wreaking havoc is. May be better to get some more caster-hating stuff. Probably don't need so many melee attacks either.

I'm a warrior, if I have too many melee attacks, I'm the wrong class...
Also, a large number of my anti-caster skills involves energy and stuffs the foe's ability to cast, so uh, why not? ^_^

Thought you wanted to try something different other than just getting energy management skills.
Savio
Blackout's ugly on a Warrior who uses Adrenal skills since a side-effect of Blackout is the loss of all Adrenaline. General consensus is it's good at the end of a knockdown chain.
Ole Man Bourbon
O. Maybe that explains why I'm starting to hate it.
