Ive been thinking of getting this game for a coupla months, Ive been playing wow for about 9 months and I'm a little bored. Bout all I can do at my level is raid high end dungeons, which is very time consuming. I'm 48 and married with 2 kids so having time to play for hrs at a time is limited, but gw has no demo. Can someone tell me if it is woth the investment, maybe someone who has played both.
Thanks, Darrell

The two are very similar, but the difference is the price, that's about all. Go with Guild Wars, save yourself the money, and time.

I heard many GW players saying that they played Wow and the graphics is pathetic and the game just sucks, i have not tried myself. i think u should try GW as the price is alot cheaper than Wow.

Guild Wars and WoW are very different.

Ive played a lot of GW and a bit of WoW, and honestly, WoW has TONS more stuff ot do, and the map is quite a bit bigger.

However, GW has exceptional PvP, so if that's what you're interested in, the pvp alone could be worth the fifty bucks.

The PvE is pretty good too, the first time through, but the PvP is what stands out the most.

9 months of WoW?
$15x9 (subscription) + $30(game) = $165

I'm not sure if ANY game is worth that much just to play.

GW wins WoW's graphics hands down in realism

Finding a guild is anywhere from simple to impossible, depending on what you're looking for. The second you start the game, there will probably be people in the first town inviting anyone to join their guild. If that's all you want, you're in. The problem, though, is that anyone (even me!) can start a guild..... so you never know what you're getting into. In order to find a top end guild, you will have to first spend quite a bit of time and probably prove yourself towards the end of the game. Any guild will be good for the beginning of the game; it'll just be friends and people that will help you out. As for getting into a top guild and breaking into PvP... still trying to figure that out myself. Good luck

As I said earlier I'm used to bein in a top guild so I'm sure the search will be tough. To bad I have to wait till the morning, I dicided not to use the download purchase method and go get the game. If was any cheaper maybe I would.

welcome

take your time finding a good guild, like tuperwho said. If you found one on wow you should be able to find one here.

World of Warcraft is better in almost everything. Graphics (in my opinion), way more to do (quests, PvP-like, much to explore, lvl 60, Epic items etc.) though, I still don't World of Warcraft. Having to wait 2 minutes to regain al you Health and Mana after each battle; No thanks.
It might seem a little bit strange to you guys. but it gets so annoying, and that's why I quited WoW and started GW again after 2 months. If you don't mind the waiting, you should stick to World of Warcraft in my opinion, but it's all up to you.

Rebuilding health you're only reason. It seems to me that at lvl 60 there is not that much to do except 40 man raids.

I must say I was disapointed. The monthly payment wasnt worth it at all.

Dont start GW expecting it to be like an MMO, it isnt one. Think of it like two games in one, a multiplayer RPG; you can only be outside with a max 8 people at any given time, all of the explorable areas are instanced, you will not meet any PC outside that is not in your party in PvE. The PvP aspect is like another game in itself, its somewhat similar to a tactical fps with rpg characters (or if you've played DotA or DotA Allstars then its something like that).

Many people quit GW for the most idiotic reasons, the level cap is only 20, you dont get any uber-l33t skills etc. when these dont even apply to this game. Very few of the criteria that make MMOs seem good are present here.

If you buy it and play it with an open mind, you wont be disappointed. Even if you get bored, you can keep the game on your PC knowing that you can come back to it any time you want. No 4 hour dungeon runs, no hours of farming for that kickass weapon; if thats what you are looking for, I'd advise a different game.

In a nutshell, its impossible to compare GW and WoW. They're both great games.

Put it this way.

GW had no monthly fee. If you need family time, or get bored, you can put it away for a while. Whereas WoW you have to play every so often to get your moneys worth.

I've not played WoW. I'm sure its a good game. But GW is too, and is probably far less time consuming (though some of the later missions can take an hour or more to do, depending how good your group is)
