Hello everyone! This is my first post on these forums. I am fairly new to GW havent realy got into watching it heavly. I have watched it off and on since it was announced however. I will be playing GW for the first time in this upcomeing BWE.

I Have been createing lots of Builds on "The Edge". I decided to checkout the ranger and cameup with this build. I checked around and didnt see any builds like this one. Although Im sure there are I just couldnt find one. I would love some constructive feed back on this build any ideas or changes that you think would make it better would be great. Also if anyone has tried a build like this how did it work for you?

Attributes
Energy Storage {P} 12 (10+2)
Fire Magic 9 (8+1)
Wilderness Survival 8
Marksmanship 10
Points Spent 196
Points unspent 4

Skills
Conjure Flame
Barrage
Penetrating Attack
Dual Shot
Pin Down
Troll Unguent
Storm Chaser
Dryder's Defenses

Gear
Pyromancer's Set +10 Energy +2 Energy Recovery
All Seeing Eye +1 Energy Storage
Elementalist Runes +1 Minor Energy Storage +1 Minor Fire Magic

I wasnt sure how many Runes I could use so stuck with just 2.. This build is pointed at haveing a very large surplus of mana and a nice mana regen to go with it. I should have around 80-86 mana with this setup. The reason for all the mana is so I can sit back and just spam Barrage, Penetrating Attack and Dual Shot. I was hopeing for this build to be a nice dmg dealing ranged addition to a group. I know that my AL will be low and can be killed alot easier than a normal Ranger. I just mainly wanted it to dish out as much dmg as I could without running out of mana fast and being able to keep the DPS up untill I die or they die. I added in Survival skills so I could keep my self alive if I came under fire or started getting chased by a warrior.
As you can see the only Elementalist skill I added was Conjure Fire which seems to be what most people do when doing R/E its a great bonus to dmg either way.

I am sure a Elemetalist Could dish out more dmg than my Ranger version but they would also run out of mana very fast and have to wait for it to recharge.
While with this build I can just about non-stop spam my abilitys which realy helps the DPS go up.

As I said above Im prity new to the GW scene and strategys that go with it. So please any Constructive feed back would be a joy.
If this Build does look viable then I'll definatly give it a try!

Barrage + Conjure / Non-Preparation Damage Adds aren't uncommon build setups, but it's usually wiser to run them as a Ranger primary. These skills would be effected by Expertise, lowering their Energy cost (combined with the fact that Rangers already have a decent Energy regen as is.)
I rarely if ever find myself running out of Energy with the sort of setup that I have, and the armor a Ranger can wear is almost the best this game has to offer. I can certainly understand the idea of wanting to have more Energy, hence an Elementalist primary, but that is better suited to classes that can act quickly, thus necessitating a larger Energy pool. Rangers tend to be a bit on the slow side unless you're spamming Barrage at close range with a Half Moon / Short Bow.

If you're looking to be dealing out damage at range with Barrage, then Hunter's Shot is a good addition. It's a cheap attack and has a strong effect for what it does, moving targets struck by it take additional damage and begin bleeding. And if you're hitting a group with Barrage .. chances are they'll wise up and try and move apart a little, which is when you hit them with Hunter's.
I would drop Dryder's Defense .. the skill has it's uses, for example, using Blizzard and Greater Conflagration to turn all damage sources into Elemental damage (which Rangers already have a high defense against) and then use DD .. a Ranger heavy team would be near impervious for the duration of DD .. which is .. not so hot. You get about 10 seconds of use out of it and 50 seconds of recharge. As a stand alone skill, if you're forced to use this as a means of defense, chances are it's only delaying the inevitable.
