well, i've tried everything my feeble mind could come up with..
i have a microsoft wheel mouse optical (or whatever they like to call it), yeah not the best mouse, anywho.
while playing guild wars (and only while playing guild wars), my mouse will freeze up, and no clicking of buttons or moving around will 'unfreeze' it. it also seems to 'disable' my 'turn left' and 'turn right' keys, but that is corrected if i rezone or get thrown into a cinematic. it seems (but i'm not too sure), that it only locks up/freezes up when i go to change the camera view (by right-clicking and dragging)
exiting guild wars via ctrl+alt+del (because alt+f4 won't work), the mouse remains frozen and only a reboot will correct the problem. (until i go to play guild wars and it chooses to freeze up again..)
i'm really confused because this only started happening 3-4 weeks ago, and it only happens during guild wars. (which led me to believe it may be a driver issue.. but i'm so clueless as to which driver and bleh..)
any suggestions/ideas to help me solve this issue are mucho appreciated.

Strange, is it in the mouse connection or USB?, there are no issues I know within GW that can cause this, so it must be driver related as you suggest.
Can you remember if you used the driver CD that came with the mouse?, if you did uninstall the driver and try running the mouse without the driver(windows has its own driver that it can use), you can also go to MS's website and try the latest drivers..

i uninstalled the driver that came on the CD with the mouse, still had it freeze up, i've downloaded the latest intellipoint software and such and will see if that helps. (never bothered with it before because everything seemed to work perfectly)
i also had a buddy that said something about a video card driver possibly effecting it, does that have any merit?

Hi,
I also have a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical which was run via PS/2 for about a year with no glitches. Running GW and it decided to stop working nice mouse pointer on the screen, just wouldnt budge. In the end I had to swap out the connector and use it's USB connection to continue.

well, when my mouse is working in the USB port, it works great, however, when i plug it into the USB port (completey different issue than what i'm experiencing with it in PS2), it seems to just 'stop working' for a few seconds, like the red light will go off and everything, then the computer will beep, then it will begin working again.
normally i'd say that it's just the mouse that is screwed up, but.. hrm.
edit: interesting - was googling around and found an article from 2002 saying that Microsoft announced that some of their wheel mice and intellipoint blahblah's stopped working after a period of normal use, and almost described exactly what i've been experiencing lately. too bad i'm nearly 4 years late to hop on the 'get a free mouse if yours does silly things' bandwagon.

i'd like to kiss you right now cannonfodder, i couldn't find anything like that when i searched (i guess i lack the patience, common sense, knowledge, your pick :P) i went through and did the steps in the first link and i haven't had anymore problems with it as of yet. (and it's even in the USB port now!)
thanks much!

Ha Ha, Your thanks are enough, (unless your a really good looking girl model )
I'm glad it worked for you, MS made a hash of the intellimice, thats why I have steered clear of them.
