Question about runes...

15 N/R here - specializing in Death magic and Blood Magic.

I bought, when I was low level, a square thing (forgot the name) that added 30 armor class and +1 to death magic.

I recently bought 2 "minor runes" which, from what I understand, gets applied to armor to increase the specific statistic thats on it - by a random number from 1-3.

Anyway, I had 8 ranks of death magic naturally. It became 9 when I added the initial crafter made square thing. Then it became 10 when I added the 1st rune - but DIDNT go up when I added the additional rune.

Is there a cap on how much bonus you can get from items? It seems like +2 is the highest combined bonuses I am able to get.

Am I nuts?

runes of one type do not stack
you can have 5 different ones but of a single type the higher will take presidence (must be primary profession or general)
minor rune +1
major rune +2 (- 50 health)
superior rune +3 (-75 health)
