The game was nice.

I feel it was actually worth the money to buy. Which is saying a lot cause 9 out of 10 games I don't think are worth the money.

But!

For PVP all I've seen is one dinky map. What more is their to pvp than just that dinky map to keep me interested in the game.

Oh, I didn't finish the PVE thang yet either. But its still getting dull.

You've only seen a very small fraction of the game so far. Definitely get past post-searing Ascalon before you make any judgements. I suggest finishing the first four missions as soon as possible for a change of scenery.

Well there is the arena at post-searing Ascalon City which is lvl 1-10 for earlier combat, then Yak's Bend gladiator arena which is pretty well done for lvl 1-15, though they say that it is one of two arenas in the Shiverpeak Mountains, though I'd say the second has yet to be implemented, then there is an arena at D'Alessio Seaboard, and one that is supposed to be from Lion's Arch or at least used to be as I haven't gotten to Fort Koga except via PvP character (so essentially there may be another), then one at Henge of Denravi further on, the Tomb of Primeval Kings even further, and the Fire Islands which I'm sure many people still remember, and I'd bet one in the Crystal Desert except I've not run around all of there.

Plus, if PvE is getting dull, you really need to work towards the Ascension quests and get to the Temple of Ages for the missions of the gods, rough stuff indeed.

My PvE character is almost lvl 20. I explored a lot at first, then I just pubed thruogh a crap load of quests whilst playing with just the mouse and a beer in my hand, My quest log is full of unfinished quest but whenever somebody has some cool info I ask. Like where the inferno spell was n'crap.

This game was cool! Going on quests with a bunch of strangers and blowing the crap outta' monsters. I've seen like Ultima Online, which is ghey, and they had a big server to host a myriad of people. Its cool that there's no subscription fee for this game so I don't expect some big honkin' server. But like Quake 3 came out with 17 Deathmatch maps, some Tournament can Capture The Flag maps. Yet all i see is the one dinky map in PvP?

Isn't there something more?

I mean... Half Life 2 was way cool. And VALVE only came out with 2 deathmatch maps. But they had a map making contest and got the SDK tools out to the community so they could make modifications. Like adding a CTf component and making new maps as well.

Well... The game is called "Guild Wars" right? And you can buy a guild or something on some far away island...

So I wanna rumble and shoot fireballs and stuff at other people. Whats this: "Team America World Police has snuffed out Kim Jong Ill and North Korea and won the favour of the ownage Gods." That I see in my chat window every once in awhile. Is that just for more 4 versus 4 on the one map?

Or is there something more to PvP than I'm getting?

There's more. Quite a bit more. Go create a PVP charachter and check out some of the different arenas. You will have to get a group together, but that isnt all too difficult in the end.

Especially the Tomb of Primeval Kings. - One of the stages is a 8v8v8v8 FFA. Great fun.

There are several different arenas, but the real pvp map is tombs which is actually many different maps, where you go to a new one each time you win untill you get to the last map, where you fight for the favor of the gods.

For a really serious fight you have gvg, where you fight between guilds. Here there are 6 or so different maps.

I don't know what the one map you know is but...

There is a random 4v4 arena, a team 4v4 arena, team 6v6 arena, 8v8 teams tournament, and 8v8 guild v guild mode. Plus there are lower level arenas as well. Oh also a capture the relic teams 6v6 mode. If you want to see where all the high level stuff is join a guild, and also make a PvP character that has all the pvp content unlocked.

Wow!

You know I picked up this game on a whim cause I wasn't currently enjoying another PC game. I avoided roleplaying games for being boring. And online roleplaying games with a subscription fee seemed to be neurotic indulgence.

But I've also heared of people living in a basement playing Counter Strike for 8 hours a day...

So...

Yeah, I couldn't imagine paying for a game that under normal circumstances I'd consider boring after a week.

Anyway, I only picked up this game because there was no subscription fee. And was considering deleting my PvE character because I couldn't make a PvP character of the same name.

Maybe I'm wrong at this moment, but I'm glad I didn't delete my character. Hoping that I can actually use it online in tournament style play if I uncover more of the map.

Here's to hoping this game turns out to be much more fun than I originally thought it could be.

Cheers to all RPG guys

The Arenas are only to relax and have fun, not anything serious.

The real PvP are the tombs and guild vs. guild. The consist of many different kind of games, on different kinds of maps, and of you hold the hall of heroes or get high on the guild ladder, you get serious bragging rights. Both are continiues international tounaments, meaning you are among the best in the world.

Dang!

But I might not be very good at this game anyway, lol!

Cranking my 3.4 GHz 3 gig DDR 400 and 256 meg card. To run the lowest graphical settings to maximize on frames per second doesn't seem like it'll give me much of an edge in this game.

So right now I think I suck.

Dang Imma n00b!

omg, have you even looked at this game yet?

Get the boat at Lions Arch to each of the Islands you can use for your guild hall, and quess what? Its like a whole town/Island complex thingy with flags for capturing the flags, battlements and gateways for archers and tanks. One map, lol. For 4v4 random there is alteast 4-6 maps. There is a 6v6 random grouping map but its hard to get a fight there sometimes. Iv noticed that each map tends to favour a certain styleof playing, not character but style, and that where your Guild Hall that you fight in/over/outside goes is not an arena but an island...

The PvE can get a bit dull, but the main reason I see that its there is to add some atmosphere and scale to the game, as well as give an enviroment for characters to go out and improve themselves in. If you have not made it past the Ascalon arena and you want pvp then you need to get a move on in the pve, or start winning exp in the fights lol.

My word, go out and find out what the game has to offer before moaning that its bland because youv found nothing...

Press the M button on your pvp char? There are 4 maps for pvp only, and last time I was on my pvp char was before I even got to post searing ascalon...

Dude! I wouldn't even be playing this game if Half-Life 2 came out with more for multiplayer besides VALVe having Counter Strike: Source up their butts.

I like this game. But after spending time writing scripts, custominzing your configuration and learning simple tricks like srpint-strafe-jumping in HL2DM. After putting youer heart into a game that isn't there. But having to wait for a third party to develop a CTF component for a game that may or may not model itself after the basic deathmatch.

After having every cheat developed for Half-Life's Counter Strike run rampant in Half Life 2 without any anti-cheating program in the near future.

Yiou kinda' get disenchanted for your hopes and efforts.

I also played SOE's planetside which was to be the first MMOFPS game and when it first came out it was great. But the developer's a nerfing communist prick that not only thinks no one should be able to have fun, but they should get killed by huge F'ing robots at the same time! But that's another story...

I only picked up this game on a whim and was willing to put all of zero effort into learning how to play. I joined the first guild that invited me; it gave me a cool cape and that's pretty much all I ever hoped for. I might leave it and want to join another, for I wasn't expecting to actually do anything in a guild.

Point being...

Moaning does me good.

Well if you want to moan about other games sucking, or other games having crap support, dont do it here. If you want to moan about PvP maps sucking, and there not being many, do it once you have explored all the options.

Also if you put zero effort into learning how to play, expect to get owned often and painfully, by npc's or players, anywhere all the time.

LOL! You know if it I did that first off, I wouldn't have felt the need to make this thread.
