Home Cities!!?!?
HelamisTheDark
I was thinking, that maybe each profession could have thier own home cities like in WoW.
Like necros could have an Underworld-based city for their own.
ect ect ect.
and it would be like at ToA where you'd have to do something to get in, in this case have that profession as primary.
Anybody wanna help me with contacting arenanet and propose this idea?

Necro exclusive armor shops. Necro skill shops. Necro skill trainer. Necro exclusive battlegrounds. Testing new necro skills for small price only in one training room and once you leave you no longer have the skill. Except for every class. And their could be weapon shops, necro auction houeses...etc. etc. etc.

Hmm...I think this actually could have potential, even though it sounds like a rip off WoW. Using the example of a necro, possibly the trainer could have a set of necromancer primary only skills, but that would add another dimension to the game. I don't see the point in necro armor shops, you can already buy only necro armors if you are a necro.

it sounds fun and all...but i would like to visit a city even though im not the correct profession. For example, a monk primary visiting a warrior city. I also think its kinda useful. Just do a rip-off of WoW. If a person choses to be a Warrior primary, they get spawned into the warrior city. Thats where he/she learns skills for his/hers primary and secondary class...it would be fun for evry1.
darkdragon99
i like the spawn setup as it is

Fear The Destroyer
It sounds like a fun idea. It just wouldn't fit into GW. :\
HelamisTheDark
i was thinking it over, just spawning in pre searing ascalon is too nooby for veteran players like most of us are...we could just jump in and be able to communicate directy with the useful people. and i concur, let all classes be able to go into primary cities cuz i think it would be fun to check out the other places. but eh, i dont know...just a random idea popped into my head
almightytom
the only problem with your idea is THIS ISNT WOW AND IT NEVER WILL BE. adding home cities for each profession would completely screw up the entire story. and what about people with a secondary profession (ie the majority of gw players). can they go to both cities?
imo, not a good idea.

Mesmer town would end up looking camp with thrills and throw cushions everywhere despite how awesome they are.
Mordakai
Horrible idea. You would get sick of looking at your own prof all the time.
There's no reason for this. If you want WoW, play WoW! Don't turn GW into it....
(People who are sick of pre-searing amaze me. It's the best area in the game. If you don't like it, grab your rez sig and secondary prof, and get out ASAP.)

I dont mind pre-searing either it is a nice starting area. I actually hate old ascalon. it is the most annoying part of the game. not much scenery to look at until you get to yak's.........i get bored easily.
Kai Nui
I think that's kind of lame. What would be the purpose...?
"We're all warriors! Together! Whee! Ok, I'm bored whatever, I'm going now."

As for ripping off WoW, I think this idea was in Ragnarok first..

This idea sounds like Age of Empires 3. Each civilization had some unique buildings like a mosque for Ottoman. GW IS UNIQUE AND IT WILL NEVER BE WoW!

lame idea....

The only things I'd like to see being ripped off World of Warcraft are:
1) Auction house
2) The ''e-mail'' like messaging that could be done, ingame.

primary prof exclusive areas. why? i mean, whats the point, apart from being there for its own sake.
I would love to see a auction house, and i beleive that they are working on one, but exclusive areas would not work, and besides we alredy have the GH, and i think that needs a few extras, rather than the towns.

i like the Auction House......but it would be cool if all proffessions could have pets or just non combat pets....i mean, thats all i make secondary rangers for....pets.....lol
Greygon
the whole "special city" thing would kinda make the whole plot line ummm...
not work...
and please don't flame me if you don't like the story line... I am just saying that the story is built around Ascalon... if you screw with it then it doesn't work.

I like some special things for a proffession, but a whole city/town is a bit too much, it will screw up the storyline a bit (and what if a ranger finds the necro village?)

If you've played atleast a few different MMO's, it's easy to notice that WoW ripped off 98% of there lttle non-plot things like auction houses, guild tabards, or mounts from other games.
Heres a few for an example:
Auction house - Taken from Final Fantasy XI.
Guild Tabards - Taken from 'Guild Wars'! (They were origionally tabards during the GW BWE's)
Mounts - Taken from Asheron's Call 2 (And many other MMO's.. i guess that just isnt origional at all.)
Many...MANY class skills (I cant remember specifically which ones) - Neverwiner Nights (Not actually an MMO, but they still stole them.)
Specific NPC's taking you between nearby towns - Lineage II (this probably isnt origional either.)
The list goes on and on. So all of those arguments of "You're trying to turn this into WoW!" are actually "You're trying to turn this into... *Head Implosion*"
Also, while I don't really agree with this idea either, it would be much more reasonable to have each class start out in a different "academy" which trains people in your specific profession.

I have one already...it's called a Guild Hall.

Maybe Union Halls or something in Major Cities.. for advanced training or some such would be viable..
Naqser
we could get use of the unused gods for this, and not put the cities in the story line, just like FoW and UW u'd have to go to ur god (depending on what profesion u are) kneel and then pay for the trip, in ToA that is. However it would become a problem since there only are 5 gods and now 6 and soon 8 profesions, so it means that now the elementalist would be left without a city unless they make a city of the 4 elements and they can acess it from one of the 4 gods that rule over that specific element. I don't know if there will be new gods in this new chapter but i doubt it so the assassin and the ritualist would be left without gods
i'm not against or for this idea, just saying how the unused could be used and then at the same time pointing the bad things

Guild Wars is Guild Wars
World of Warcrack is World of Warcrack
completely separate games and no need to copy from one to the other

It would be cool if they wanted to make some primary skills hard to get. Meaning you would have to play with each primary class to get all of the skills through PvE.
