I don't know how many people ask me where I got my Elder Warthog and Elder Strider!!! I use my PvE character for PvP and I trained those pets.
So many people say they want to change their pets because:
1.) Wolf is getting really boring.
2.) Different pets are more interesting! I believe that's why they designed so many pets in the first place?
3.) I see better when my pet is different. My Elder Strider stands REALLY tall and it makes noise when it fights (and it annoys the opponents!!). I love that. My Elder Warthog is SO TINY. I always have trouble seeing it in the crowd. It doesn't make any noise when it fights so sometimes I don't even know if it gets stuck or not (unless I watch my energy gain from Ferocious Strike).
I don't see why we can't choose our pets for PvP characters. There is no cons to this at all. They can easily create a scroll down menu when people choose Ranger as primary/secondary. I mean all the pets are about the same anyway.
Allow PvP Characters to choose pet!

Keep the unique stuff to PvE. Next thing you'll know, PvPers will be asking for FoW armor and black dye!

It takes time to find and train these Pets in PvE. That should be rewarded, not just handed to anyone creating a PvP character....

First, no one "deserves" anything, except a good gaming experience. Is the lack of pets ruining your gaming?
I don't see why people who want this stuff don't make a PvE char. THAT would be earning it.
I guess if it would cost Faction, I would consider it....
But it would have to be a LOT of faction!!!

I can't believe there's any debate over this, honestly.
It takes time to find those "special" pets in PvE? Okay, so what? A trip into UW, maybe an hour or two worth of questing. That's nothing.
This suggestion shouldn't be colored as "give PvP everything so they don't have to work for it," because that's not what the suggestion is saying at all. As it stands now, the pet system in PvP is limited. The fact that the pets function almost identical to each other is beside the point. This suggestion relates to giving players options, if only options on a cosmetic level. The Wolf is cool to a point, sure. But after a while, the player may want a change, similar to the requests for a Hair/Face/Skin stylist in PvE.
This is about options, it's about diversity if a player so desires. If a PvPer doesn't want a Wolf, instead wanting a Spider, or a Warthog, or whatever, who the hell cares? Customization--as in, a player being able to tailor their character a certain way--is clearly a goal of ANet. Why?
Because we can customize our characters, collect a motley assortment of armors and look like some medieval Raggedy Anne/Andy, we can mix and match weaponry and accessories/shields.
If we so desire, we can create a Necro/Ranger with bright green hair, black skin, and yellow Tormentor's armor, wielding a purple-tinted Chaos Axe and a steely blue Skeleton Shield.
I, for one, think that seeing a Necro like that commanding an Elder Spider (or whatever the "high end" PvE tameable creatures are) would look unbelievably awesome, not to mention that Necro would be having much more fun using the pet of his or her choice.

I agree
Id say only a few pet options though, to keep in the spirit of PvE uniquness.
A stalker, a wolf and a ...something else. (bird maybe?)
Then bears, lynx, lizards, hogs and spiders will still sort of stand out.
Or maybe the other way around and add them all and keep 3 (like staker, spider and something) special for PvE characters.
Just wolf, though only cosmedic, is tired imo.
Just a few new options would brighten up the palate a little.

Some people didn't even read what I said. I said it's easier to have a different pet because it's easier to SEE on the battlefield. When you have 2-3 wolves running around, it's a bit harder to see and it's boring, really.
So many people asked me where I got my pet. That just answers the question: THEY WANT A DIFFERENT PET!
If everybody is satisfied with Elder Wolf, why would they even ask me where to get an Elder Strider or Elder Warthog?
It's all about customization. And I prefered Strider over other pets because it's huge and it makes tons of noise when it attacks. I LIKE THAT.
I am not even suggesting to let us choose Evolution type.
PS: But if having a different pet serves as a "reward" for using PvE character, then I can understand... I guess.

Wanting more weapons types and giving the people to choose their pets is a completely different thing. We already have about 8 different pets in the game and they can all be Elder. I am not asking for something NEW. Just allow people to choose pets so that they don't get jealous when other people bring a different looking pet.
