Dumb but vital question - how to unstack item stacks?

no its not unless u put in your your bank

when trading you can split them... find a friend to help you with this...

In Trading is the only way I have figured out how.

Or you could just run outside town and try to drop them. It'd still require someone else to pick up the stack though, as any you'd pick up would go right back to the stack.

I'd like to know, why is this vital? We might be able to help you better if we knew why you want to un-stack them.

Turns out it ain't vital after all lol Almost done the PVE game and never actually sold any stacked items, so didn't know trade lets you split ))

You can also choose how many to sell to merchant.

This is the way.
Go to Xenlai agent.
one part to bank. then move the split part to a particular inventory cell, and you should be set....

no, ive tried this many a time. when you move a stacked item from your inventory to the storage chest, it doesnt give you an option for splitting the stack. it automatically places the whole stack in storage.

i have found that this is vital if you wish to mix certain dyes together. for instance, making silver dye requires that you mix 2 silvers together, then mix a dye remover with the 2 silvers (I believe thats the formula), and this isnt possible if your silvers are stacked

EDIT: Ok, perhaps not vital, but definitely a plus :P

1. Silver+Silver+Dye remover=Silver??? Do you mean "white" dye?
2. Yes you can still mix if they're stacked. In fact I think you have to put the silver IN the dye remover and not the other way around. I have used dye remover, then added silvers to it and it worked fine.

I have 13 ods keys and wanted to split em up so my 2nd char can
have some keys without buying more.

Give keys to second character - when your rdy to logout, make sure you put them in storage - log on again - their in storage for any char to use.

It is ridiculous that we can not split a stack of items without trading.

Lazy programming.

For instance, I have several white dye bottles. I need fast gold and just want to sell one. I can't. Gotta sell the whole kit and keboodle.

Just hold shift while moving the stack to another inventory spot, at that point it will ask you how you would like to split it... No need to trade or wte...

Funny how its 2012, and lots of people doesnt know howto do this :P
