About dupe bug
ophidian409
I heard about some dupe bugs using lag.(I am not going to mention how it works) I know that could happen becasue another online game I played basically use the same principle. However I never succeed in doing that, and I question the feasibility. do someone out there ever succeed?

Since everything in GW is serverside, you really can't dupe items. A bug like this appeared to happen to Savio and I once in a trade, but the items turned out to not actually exist, i.e., we couldn't sell or trade them. They later vanished again.
Savio
It being against the EULA aside, you'd have to be able to crash yourself/the servers with very good timing. It was discussed a while back. Besides, Anet bans you if you attempt something like that (and yeah, I've heard of people being banned for repeatedly logging in and out.)
ophidian409
If they ban people, that means the bug really works. And I also wonder how Anet monitor every player. Can they detect people using speed hack? Can they really detect someone keep logging off and on?
Savio
1. There aren't speed hacks, there are keyloggers.
2. I have actually once duplicated an item without logging out when I was about 1-2 weeks into the game, reported it to Anet, never really figured out how. It was a low-level hammer anyway, so eh.
3. It's their servers. They could tell you what you said at a specific time of day, in addition to when you log in and out.

what do u mean keylogger? I have a working speed hack(or accelerater), but that will make the surrounding lag do I don't use it.

Oh I got your meaning. Yes you are right, I cannot change anything to the surrounding that makes my speed boost meaningful. Moreover I don't need to log in to use the accelerator. Accelerator is to boost your computer efficiency and speed, not a specific game, so you can speed boost anything including any game
Savio
Wait, so... it isn't a speed hack.
ophidian409
Depends how you define speed hack. I can walk very fast, heal very fast, kill very fast, but when I walk I lag as you say I cannot change the server, I can only change myself.
Savio
So you mean you've optimized your computer so it runs faster? That's not a speed hack.
ophidian409
Well the place I download said it was a speed hack. Then tell me what is speed hack
Savio
Forgive me; I assumed you meant the Guild Wars "speed hack" which basically is a keylogger. Speed hacks don't work with GW because, as previously stated, calculations are run server-side so speeding up your program wouldn't do anything but cause it to lag as you said.
Lasareth
There are ways to mess with the server (read: FFXI's Mr. Argus) but you'd be caught and banned the moment you used them, so good luck with that
ophidian409
Although I get lagged I am still faster in people's eyes. I can change myself thats undeniable. If you have other MMORPG experience you know you can do that in every game.
chippxero
Your basically saying to travel faster than other people within the game?
Savio's said serveral times you can't do this and i'm enclined(sp?) to agree.
You shouldn't risk third-party programs while running games like guild wars/wow it's like begging to lose your account.

I believe the type of program he is referring to works only in client/server calculations. Older 2D games like Lineage have client side calculations and sprite speeds. These programs accelerate the client side action allowing the character to "speed hack".
I played Lineage for quite some time and got pretty familiar with people using these. In that game it makes PvP a total nightmare for the player who isn't hacking.
ophidian I'm sure you know GW and ANet is an NCSoft company. I would consider removing those programs before they are detected by ANet or NCSoft servers and you recieve an account ban. Especially in GW this isn't really worth the risk you are taking. If I'm way off of my guess here please forgive me for assuming.

Well, speed hacks aside, it boils down to this:
Is it possible? Maybe.
Is it legal? Not really.
Is it something people will and/or should share on the forums? Most definitely not
So, since nobody can really answer this with unsullied hands, I'm going to close it. If you guys do figure out a way... keep it in PMs and out of our view.
