Oh dear...
What is Christmas without dwarves?

Well...updates typically come on Wednesdays...so...maybe tomorrow? Or the week after...or...the week after?
Banebow
Hmmm. . .probably not this week (watch, they will release it to prove me wrong ) The Halloween update didn't come till about a week before Halloween itself (I forget the exact update time) So the Christams update, if they even plan one, will probably not happen till a week before Christmas. Then again, I am not part of the head of ANet, so I don't know what could be going through their heads. . .
Hunter Killer
Well imagine how much graphics they have to design, right after Halloween, meaning they should not have had much time to work on these. I suspect they are working their butts off at to create these new outpost graphics, though I think they should focus more on gameplay updates

I don't recall reading anything from ANet that they were going to do anything special for Christmas. For Holloween we were told/teased about the Holloween Event over a month in advance.
Dunno, I'm not sure they will do anything.
My wish for Christmas - everyone recieves a Christmas stocking in their inventory that includes one obsidian shard and a special item like a USABLE piece of armor, a scroll (santa hat?), something that actually did something worthwhile.
Not holding my breath though.

Depends whether the artists are working hard on Chapter 2 or not...
Racthoh
Make the Charr have Santa hats on.
Rurik's FDS has one twine green, the other red.
Carolers in LA.
Change the names of chests to "Present" and change the appearance to look like a gift.
Festive music playing in the login screen/character seltection area (or as an option to have it playing in every area during gameplay).
Rurik or King Adelbern (sp?) dressed like Santa in all cutscenes and missions.

Well, as I said, giving everyone something useful this time is about all I'd care about. Or a small gift bag of goodies - dyes, jewels, shards and perhaps one item useful for each character that is applicable to their profession and level would be nice.
And of course, decorate LA - Giant Tree with blinking lights, candy cane posts, reindeer running around in the district, dress all of the merchants as elves, etc.
A crashed sleigh with a smattering of dead reindeer parts and a planted santa would be a bit much, perhaps.

Howabout we keep all the carebear holiday crap out of the game and treat it like a game meant for PvP, you know....like it says in your game synopsis? Not everyone appreciates or celebrates christmas.

2. Some people do appreciate and celebrate Christmas. It's just a bit of fun anyway, like games are meant to be.
3. If you PvP then you will be unaffected by the celebrations - so why worry.
Sheesh!

How about instead of the halloween mask being replaced by a Santa hat, they have a special Christmas weapon? Perhaps a large 2 handed candy cane?
aron searle
instead of spirits, have snowmen.

unienaule's comparison with GW and Nazi's actually seems pretty accurate.

Also, I occassionally run my PvE characters for neg energy weapons and such, and I'd rather not spend my time in the districts watching idiots playing around christmas bullcrap .

take a chill pill.

Let rurik have a santa suit on , with a battle charge of 'HO! HO! HO! eat candy cane you hairy arses!!'
while he hits the charr with a fiery candy cane.
and make the charr look like rudolph the red nosed reindeer.
and give dwarfs pointy ears
polar bears for pets!

I look forward to christmas decorations, but I really hope that they won't be in for at least two weeks.

You're taking it all far too seriously mate. There are lots of people posting lots of suggestions. I doubt that Anet would implement any holiday theme that would affect gameplay.
As Aron said - chill.
Go play WoW for a few weeks ... oh no, it's Christmas there too
... and I would be more than happy to enjoy other holidays and festivals even if I don't personally celebrate them. Variety is the spice of life.

With Christmas being the most commercialized and overrated holiday, some of us would just rather not have to deal with it in every single thing they do, including playing computer games. In other words, it all gets rather tiring when it shows up in every single pass time activity you have. A.net just has to choose which group to ignore, and ofcourse, there's no other better group to ignore than the "vocal minority".
Naprius
fortunately you're not the only one on the damn planet and you're as important as a bug.
so i couldn't give a flying fck what you don't like.. go play solitaire for a few weeks..
have fun

Do we need another "What do I want for Christmas" thread? Does everyone celebrate Christmas? Do we really need to start flaming over this? Does the title of this thread have anything to do with its contents? Does anyone ever use Search anymore?
No to all of the above. Closed.
