Necro tank help
imaginary friend
I was just thinking about changing my second profession to war for my necro. I was thinking of blood curses and some weaponmastery.
I havent set out all of the points yet but here it is
16 blood= 12 + 3 + 1
12 curses= 9 + 3
10 swordsmanship
elite:well of power or spiteful spirit
vampric touch
vampiric gaze
sever artery
gash
spiteful spirit/well of power
pure strike
life siphon
rez sig
pros for Well of Power
just run in, and life siphon all enemies, slash and hack at your enemy, when your health is getting low you just use vampiric touch and gaze (that will give you around 120 health) then just keep swinging and repeat. after you kill an enemy, get up a well of power to help with health regen and energy.
cons for Well of Power
your enemies will most likely run away because of Aoe damage therefore leaving you without the extra pips of energy for regen
Pros for spiteful spirit
slap on spiteful spirit on any target other than the one you attack then just run in, and life siphon all enemies, slash and hack at your enemy, when your health is getting low you just use vampiric touch and gaze (that will give you around 120 health) then just keep swinging and repeat.
cons for spiteful spirit
the enemies might not be grouped together, and it does not give you health in anyway
Skills that im thinking of adding
Mark of Pain
Well of Blood
Any suggestions? (pve build of course)

anyone got comments?

You will need some more armour to tank. Since u plan on standing in wells may I suggest Dolyak Sig? I don't see this build dealing with damage too well. Also a 120 heal is not going to get it done in the UW.
Slade xTekno
Tanking with a caster is not recommended. However...
Mesmer has Physical Resistance and Elemental Resistance, plus all the elemental mantras. Try combining that with Shadow of Fear or Enfeebling Blood. Mesmer also has Signet of Midnight and Epidemic.
Elementalist has Earth, but I honestly can't think of anything you can do that an Ele primary can't do better.
Also, try waiting before bumping. Your post is still on the first page.

maybe if i got tormentors set with armor bonuses on my weapon, and armor bonus on my offhand, then i would have about 80 armor or higher
Scown-dog
Warriors typicaly have 100ish armour. This is not taking into account all the stances and +armour skills available to them. A true tank also has no need for a weapon attribute level. A true tank can absorb damage allowing party members to dish the pain.

well then maybe i could just change my necro to a close up dmg dealer in huge groups, slap on mark of pain before battle, then just go and watch all the damage fly off my screen
imaginary friend
i was usin this build during thunderhead keep, except i had mesmer as my second, just testing out if the whole mark of pain +spiteful spirit would be a deadly combo... turns out it is
imaginary friend
anyone know how i could get some more dmg output?

Stop adding unnecessary posts to your thread. 8 Posts including edits in not much over an hour is ridiculous.

Which AoE spell have you brought in that build? Sever artery? Res sig?

You realise this game is a team game? There is nothing preventing you from calling Mark of Pain on an enemy and letting a real tank do the hack and slash.
Of course there are many ways of playing a necro and I wouldn't bemoan anyone who deviates from the standard. But you chose to post in the most irritatingly attention-seeking manner, and therefore no wonder you get a negative response. mishkin eom
I would put bonetti's (tactics) and maybe enfeebling blood(curses) in there, if you insist on secondary fighter as tank.
I'm not really sure what the point of a secondary warrior would be, outside of bonetti's. parasitic bond(curses) is also a great one ---- just make sure your party can kill stuff. I like insidious parasite(curses), too, but there are only so many spots on your bar. mark of pain has pros and cons. the enemy will stay grouped for 2 whacks, but will then scatter and the whole thing gets messy. they'll actually come back for more pain, but at this point the melee gets pretty frenetic. it's good if you want to get them off you, though. it really all depends on what you're fighting and what your party makeup is. have you considered the death line at all? tainted flesh looks like a pretty rockin' elite if you can target yourself. imaginary friend
yes i realize its a team game, the aoe comes from the elementalists and maybe smiters, therefore the enemies would scatter taking me out of my well i created. As for calling targets with mark of pain, the tanks usually do not follow the targets i call, so i want to become a necro/war so i can dish out the mark of pain damage
Tricose
u dont need a w as a second class for mark of pain to work u just need a melee weapon. u can use any without attribute points meaning u can thn put them in something else and take a different secondary insted of warrior. be a monk and become a 55 hp necro(can u do this with a curse build?) or a ele and take water magic to stop em running away as quick for aoe
