I've almost got enough to buy my 15k armor and up until now I've been using a full set of gladiator's. I know a lot of people use ascalon or knight's helms for the damage reduction. Personally, I think I've been doing well with my gladiator's helm, but I want to know how much damage is reduced?
I know the whole bit about global reduction and runes not stacking, etc. I know that the knight's/ascalon give -2 and the rune can give up to -3. I've searched but I can't find it, just how does this work? I've seen the armor calculation tables on this site, but they are way outdated and barely mentioned the damage reduction.
What exactly is the difference between a rune only and the rune/knight's combo? Will it make that much more difference for a W/E in PvE?
Thanks
Is it worth it?

1. The "best" setup for a warrior is imo
Skill Helm (Weapon) - Unless you have some freaky build that doesn't involve using a melee weapon
Gladiator's Chest
Gladiator's Gloves (or Stoneskin Gloves if you use knockdowns)
Gladiator's Legs
Knight's Boots - For the Global -2 damage reduction
2. Damage reduction works like this:
If you were to get hit by an attack for 10 damage (before reduction), then that 10 damage is reducted to 5 damage, if you have superior absportion and a knight's piece.
Well, it can make a fairly large difference if you get your armour really high. If you were using let's say Armour of Earth, and mobs hit you for 4 damage a shot on average without knights, then the -2 damage reduction will have a huge difference.

I agree with the above, but you can basically choose whichever helm you like and if that helm gives damage reduction, great, otherwise get knight's boots. For some reason knight's helm doesn't actually give damage reduction; don't ask me why. Personally I like Ascalon Helm and glads for everything else. The helm looks cool. :O

Thanks. So what you are saying is the reduction is taken off the number leftover after all my other damage modifiers are calculated and it takes off one point of damage for each number? (i.e. A monster hits me with 5 points of damage after my armor and shouts/stances/etc are calculated so I get hit with 0 damage with the combo or 2 damage with the rune only?)
And I am leaning toward the Ascalon helm with Glad armor combo. I think it looks cool too. Although, that's VERY popular and I'm not a 'trendy' kinda gal.

Sometimes being an individual means doing what everybody else is doing - because YOU like it.
I started out with all gladiator/knights helm and boots, but then I switched to a Wa/Mo using tactics so now I have an ascalon helm and the rest gladiators. I don't care if lots of other people have it - I love it. =)

I'll definitely wind up doing what I feel like doing, but I like to weigh my options. I wasn't even going to get 15k armor until about 3 weeks ago. I'm just getting tired of seeing the same 1.5k gladiator's on my toon and not liking the look any longer.
In the last game I played, I kept the tailor in business. I'm going to have to learn that armor is not as easy to change around here.
