Profession: [Ranger/Mesmer]
Name: [Ranger Exx]
Type: [All the following - PvE/CompetitivePvP/GeneralPvP/8v8/Gvg?]
Category: [Damage/Support]
Attributes:
Beast mastery 4 + 1
Expertice 11 +1 +1
Wilderness 10 +2
Marksmanship 10 +2
(ie 1 x expertice mask, 1x major Wild, 1x major marksmanship)
Skills Set
Poison Arrow [Elite]
Penetrating Attack
Dual Shot
Tigers Furry
Kindle arrows
Whirling Defence
Troll Unguent
Rez Sid
Summary:
This is a dmg support Build, you start of by spreading poison arrow on every one this either will distract the monks or if they ignore it the poison will last some time with poison bow string. Once you do this focus in with the rest of your team on the target, at this point you switch bows to a vamp +5 bow use kindle arrows then tigers furry and dual shot, spam dual as much as possible and hit the target with penetrating attack when possible. What this does is hit the target with 2 x kindle arrows dmg and 2 x vamp dmg (giving u 10 health per hit) + u have the poison runing on top of this. Dont use the vamp bow all the time switch when ur being focused on and when you think the battle is slowing down or taking time spread poison again but dont do this all the time.
You should see a row of dmg points on screen with each shot of dual. your expertice is up so your energy worries are managable and not that great.
Concerns: Do not spam poison arrow there is no point to this once every 20 sec is enough but if u do use the skill you will hit for more dmg with it even though it isnt a dmg skil, smthing about using skills pumps out more dmg even though the skill is not a dmg skill.
Tigers furry will drain you, you could use frenzy or other warior speed boost if you go warior secondary but i dont like the weaknesses each has.
Armor: Druids armor
Weapons: 2 x Short Bows 1 with poisoners bow string other with +5 vamp string, both with +30 health grip.

11-10-10-4? That is fuzzy attribute math.
r a m e n x 1
is this build still effective?
and can someone revise the attributes?
shwitz said its weird

I managed to get WS, Expertise and Marksmanship to 10 each and BM to 1 =P before i ran out of points, It may work with 200 attribute points but seeing as how i only have 185 I can't test this atm.
Shwitz
With the full complement of 200 attribute points, you can get 10-10-10-5, but not 11-10-10-4. I also don't recommend using 2 major runes, but that's a different story...
r a m e n x 1
so the build is still effective but the stats are screwed up?
can someone fix it up without using major runes?

Since you are apparantly not using mesmer skills, change the secondary profession to Warrior...Replace, then, "Tiger's Fury" with "Fury" which is easily spammable and as a stance that makes you take double dam, the short duration give some flexibilty. Also, with WD, you can swap stances if you start taking too much damage. Another benifit is that is works without the need for attribute point usage, so you can put the points you were using in Beast Mastery somewhere else, giving you better damage or energy usage.

Working off what TwinRaven said, go R/W, use an 11-10-10 build in Expertise, Marks, and Wilderness with all minor runes and an Expertise mask. If you want more damage, sub in a superior marks rune. If you have energy problems, drop Expertise to 10 and sub in a superior expertise rune, putting either marks or wild up to 11. Your skill set would be as follows:
1. Kindle Arrows
2. Frenzy
3. Poison Arrow {E}
4. Penetrating Attack
5. Dual Shot
6. Whirling Defense
7. Troll Unguent
8. Res Sig
Very basic archer-type ranger. Not my preferred skill set here, but you asked for a corrected version of the OP's build
If you desire to keep Tiger's Fury, I recommend going 10-10-9-7 in exp, marks, wild, and beast mastery, ignoring your secondary completely (doesn't matter what you pick), and tweaking your equipment until you're satisfied with your damage output to energy usage ratio.

lol
sorry for asking so much but i have a r/me and i don't wanna start over again >.<

You can apply that advice to a Ranger/anything.
R/X
8 Beast Mastery (7+1)
14 Expertise (10+3+1)
11 Marksmanship (10+1)
10 Wilderness Survival (9+1)
1. Kindle Arrows
2. Tiger's Fury
3. Poison Arrow {E}
4. Penetrating Attack
5. Dual Shot
6. Whirling Defense
7. Troll Unguent
8. Res Sig
Again, not what I would choose as a general running around-killing things build, but that's a tweak to the OP's build that would allow for a good rate-of-fire, a decent damage output, and some poison mixed in for good measure. I'm not a fan of Troll Unguent, but many rangers can't seem to leave home without it. In it's place, I would use Distracting Shot. That's my "never leave home without it" ranger skill. So, my skill bar would look like this if I were making a Poison Arrow/Tiger's Fury build (same attributes).
1. Kindle Arrows
2. Tiger's Fury
3. Dual Shot
4. Distracting Shot
5. Penetrating Attack
6. Poison Arrow {E}
7. Throw Dirt
8. Res Sig
Simple, effective, deadly, and versatile. A little damage, a little interruption, some poison, and a little blinding action for defense.
Do you need me to spell it out for you any further, ramenx1? Or have I thoroughly broken down this build enough?

I always advocate Druid's.
Bow is personal preference. I recommend Poisoner's or Zealous strings, and I usually go with Fortitude grips, and I have an affinity for Shortbows and Recurve bows. It's really what you like more, though. The one thing I can say for sure though is unless you or someone else will be bringing Favorable Winds, or you'll be using Read the Wind, stay away from Flatbows. Very inaccurate vs moving targets.
