Whisper "GOLD for Cash"
2_fingers
Anyone recently got this?
You leave a town and some guy whispers u the website to go to for cash to gold trade.
Basically i noticed it out of augury and drok - after i've left the town some unknown person whispers me with that gold for cash thing. Probably bots, but i think this bot is the most problematic - Crap like this was happening in D2.
I dun have a screenie - it didnt occur to me to get one - probably post one when i recieve this unsolicted junk whisper. Hopefully anet can check these guys out

Any noticable trends in the names of those who whispered you?

World of Warcraft has this problem bad.
Not sure what to do if I get a gold spam in GW, besides ingnoring the person.
Also, havn't recieved one either, reason why I started playing GW more than I have been lately.

Many people in tombs have been experiencing this as well, getting whispers from the same bot every day.

i was doing the missions quests in the desert and had the virgoods guys private message me.....

I reported them within minutes for the two times I've gotten the whispers.

Dralspire makes me hungry.
I've asked around a few people have gotten the whisper from virigoods.
What bothers me is that whispers would be tougher to monitor and to screen. I mean it is much easier for an anet staff were to simply stand in a town and observe a spammer than for the anet staff to monitor the whispers - what i suppose should happen is for the person recieving whispers to screenie it and send it to anet (which i unfortunately didnt do )

Will Anet be able (and willing) to ban them for that?
Dralspire
It is my understanding that this is an offense resulting in a ban. Well, I sent in the screenshot of the whisper that I got, if I get some sort of feedback, I will post it here.

I've never experienced this, until I started posting on this forum.

I had this happen to me a few times already, right when I was in the middle of playing in Tombs. Very very annoying.
I'm not wasting time sending a screenshot or anything though unless ANET starts guaranteeing they'd be banned if I did.

If everyone thinks like that Navaros, the problem never gets reported and the users never get their accounts "looked at" by anet.
It would take all of 1 minute to fill out the report form and add a screenshot.

I had one person trying to sell me weapons... This person, Big Apple, Yellow Apple, and all other colors kept whispering me one day. This went on for about 30 minutes. No matter what town I went to this person found me and tried to trade me things. I finally told this person I would report them if they did not stop. It stopped for about 10 minutes... Then I got a whisper saying they would kill my family if I did not answer them! What kind of sick shit is that? All these names with Apple, yellow, big, orange what have you. I have not seen them in a week or so since this happened, but reporting them resulted in the same auto response.

Anet needs to clean this crap up quick, no one is logging on to be harrassed by sweat shoppers and bots, people were discussing these whispers when I was inFissure last night. Seems like half the group had been harrassed like that. Also, I've seen those apple people they are always in LA selling stuff. We need some kind of action quick from Anet or the game will be unbearble soon.

If I remember they said something about this a while back!
I think they are basically gathering up all the accounts, noting all these complaints and they plan to do HUGE mass account ban's in one fell swoop.
All I would say is keep reporting! This 'doomsday' for the botters will be upon them soon the more reports they get the more chance of them being laid to rest.

I found this:

In a front page article in the NY Times we have an interesting take on the whole 3rd world gold farming / power levelling service industry. They refer to it as a form of "outsourcing" which it IS but which is a term I hadnt seen associated with the practice before. Interesting that these things are being picked up in mainstream media now that the gaming industry is a mega-bucks venture. |

BOTTERS AND SWEATSHOP FARMERS ARE CHINESE, GW IS LAUNCHING IN CHINA, THEY ARE POTENTIAL MARKET, YOU'RE NOT. THEY ARE NOT GETTING BANNED
But uh...keep being optimistic!

Erf...I made a big mistake...one of these guys whispered a friend, so I thought for a laugh I'd whisper the guy back telling him to stfu and whatnot...guess what, I'm on his list now
So yeah, my advice: don't msg them back or you'll probably be added to like 20 other botters' lists of potentials......
