Capping Quick Shot Problem
Athis Strider
Hey guys,
I have tried to hook up with capping groups to cap Quick shot.
I am now on my 4th attempt. Every time I hook up with a pug they want to go "around" the island then in the middle last. The skill is in the path of the patrol, which is really convenient on the way, but no one wants to deviate just a bit to get it. This makes me the last one to get my skill, and by then everyone has theirs and they either leave, or conveniently die in the next fight. I get stuff like, "oh man sry dude so close!" ya right. ( this has happened 3 times now.) Can I cap it with Henchies?
Or should I wait till there are a handfull of Rangers that can go with me?

I capped it with henchies with no problem. I waited out the Mango's and then swung to the left where the 2 Mangos hang out before the first set of Bosses(can't remeber who they are now). Then I just camped there and waited for Maxine Coldstone to come around to me. Worked great! You have to watch her though as she retreats from the warriors(who might end up aggro'ing the Mangos).

Quick Shot (elite) - Shoot an arrow that moves twice as fast.
Called Shot (non-elite) - Shoot an arrow that moves 3 times faster and cannot be blocked or evaded.
Each for 5 energy.
Unless these skills have changed it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle to cap it.

Anyway, to the OP, try capping QS (and other elites) with henchmen, its less of a hassle.

henchies > pugs.
they don't leave after they get their caps and will stay with you even at 60% dp.

I did it with henchies and got it on the first try. I was really happy.
You must be one of the unlucky ones who must do many times to get the monster to spawn. That's to bad.
But keep going at it with henchies and you'll get it sooner or later .

Any ways I wanted to thank you guys for the replies. I will try with Henchies tonight. IMHO Rangers seem to be the most helpfull players.

That's because they're desperate for games XP. Nobody wants Rangers anymore; in my experience, you get PUGs with Warriors, Els, and Monks, and then you get the PUGs made up of seven different types of Ranger and maybe one odd Elementalist if ye're lucky. This being the case, whatever games we get, we treat well. Especially the amazingly rare case of a balanced group including all necessary positions.
*Has had to play tank and Monk gaurd, despite being an interruptor, more times than can count, due to bad group structure. >_<*
And yes, Quick Shot is easily useful as the second shot in a damage spike if you want to do it quickly and for less energy than Punishing Shot, while Called Shot is, essentially, a waste of five energy. I have yet to find a use for it beyond Apply Poison, and as we all know, Apply Poison bites...

i just got it last night, after 4 attempts 2 with henchies and 2 pugs, but fianlly got some guildies 2gether and got it. The funny thing was we circled the island at least 4 times waiting for her, never showed so we said fuk it, bad spawn whatever, and were gettin ready to leave, when waht do you know who comes walkin down the path MAxine coldstone, just laying spirits anyway got the cap, was the dam wierdest thing!! Anyway look for spirits she spirits spawns, so just look for those and you should find her!!! Usaually towards the middle of the map!!!

take all henchies.
if you need it for pvp unlock -- take w/r -- if you need it for pve r/mo or r/w
just rush past all the enemies and kill her (only her) --> cap the skill --> leave.
its hard (because henchies might die before you reach her with bad spawn) but not impossible.
only works if she is within the yellow brush

It took me a long time, 2 henchie attempts and 3-4 PUG's. The ranger was low on the cap priority scale. When you could get people to support you and stick around after they got their caps, trying to figure out where she patroled was a pain. Plus, she does not spawn every time... another boss with the name Coldstone will spawn and all the work tracking down this patrolling boss is down the tubes (happened to me twice).
Best thing to do is to fight your way clockwise along her route (she patrols counter clockwise). This is roughly by going north (keeping the ether thingie on your left) into the caves/mountains, fighting dryads and drakes, etc. Hit the top of the island and take every right turn in a loop.
Good luck!

She doesnt start her patrol Til you reach near her starting point I've found out, so the people suggesting to wait for her at the yellow brush or w/e...that aint gonna happen much :\
You know where she starts cause you mentioned it - just fly up the middle path and you'll hit her spawn.
She goes down in like 2 seconds to even half a group of henchies...She really is pathetic. You can probably even have half the map aggroed and still kill her in time to get sig of cap off before dying.

Cool. I didn't know she was a spawn type. I dont really care much for the spawn thing, seems kinda pointless, other than just to aggravate us. If the point is to make it more challenging, the mix it up with some kind of diffrent scenerio. But to go and try to cap a skill after all the fighting along the way and find out that the boss didn't spawn is just aggravating.
I hooked up with a Ranger once in the Shiverpeeks. It was just him and I and the rest were Henchies. The boss for the skill he was after spawned on the first trip. It took 4 trips for the right boss to spawn for me and he stuck it out with me the whole time, including rezoning and starting over.
Can't wait to try it tonight!!

I remember capping it witch henchies. It required me to clear the entire freaking area however, since Maxine refused to stand in one place. Caught up with her like 5 metres from Ember Light Camp :P

I'm curious why you think Called Shot is a waste of five energy. Is it considered by most people to be a waste of energy? I actually don't use either of these but I would like to hear the logic behind it if you have the time.
We're veering away from the original intent of this thread. You can PM on it if you have the time.

i heard that she only spawns 50% of the time and that theres an ele boss that sometimes spawns instead of her
i dunno about that, but i capped it on my first real attempt to try to get it.

Thanks for the info guys!! I capped it last night with Henchies, and it was as easy as everyone said. Now for Punishing Shot!

I, too, got my QS yesterday.. The first time, I went with a PUG, but I had to leave right when we spotted Max's spirits. When I came back, I just grabbed 7 hencies and luckly for me, I spotted spirits about after 20min of wandering. It was more fun than the PUG actually. =D

i dunno about that, but i capped it on my first real attempt to try to get it. yes this is true harn coldstone may appear instead of her, i wanted to cap both and when i was going for harn, maxine came a few times.
and from up before called shot cant be blocked or evaded, and is possibly beetr than qs, it cant be blocked or evaded because it says it has half the range, no? y run closer up in battle when you've been sooting from a distance all along?

No, called shot has full range capabilities. The only shorter range shot is Point-blank Shot I believe.

Athis ooh, punishing shot. now that is a fun skill to get.
well, not that fun if the boss doesn't happen to spawn........
but he's nearby the nearest portal so that isn't that big of a deal. while in snake dance you might want to watch out for a large mob of the monsters that have Signet of Judgement ( i can't grasp their names). mixed with the Frost Giants, it'll be a tough fight that you probably won't come out alive...oh, right, this mob i'm talking about is in the northern section, nearby the resurrection shrine.
that's pretty much the only trouble you'll have capping this skill...other than the fact that it's a long walk

I had to point out that this statement was pretty good, right up until the last bit. That part is absolutely false. I took 7 henchies and just walked in the opposite direction that she travels, killing every monster I came across. Found her in the upper right hand corner of the map. Killed off all her cronies, then killed her off. The only way that what Hanso said can be true is if you aggro the whole mob right outside the door. Each enemy mob (there are like 5 large mobs just outside of Emberlight) can be pulled away from each other with a razor-like precision, even with a party of henchies.
