Sword > Hammer/Axe?

It seams to me that most of the warriors are playing with swords. There are less which use axes or hammers. Are sword-warriors better than axe- / hammer-warriors or why do most use a sword?

Nice reason but there should be a better reason for your choice, insteat of style.

Personally, I've always been a 1h Hammer or Axe person myself, these are difficult to look stupid unless they go out of their way and almost always have more devastating sounding abilities, while Swords can often get too decorative or overdone, though many people enjoy those weapons, and are often centered on being the norm of items. Plus there is the Dragon Sword, but I had one back in the E34E, at least a fiery sword, and so the effect has passed me by. It is sort of like dealing with Black Dye, sure it is great if taken at face value, but, everyone else can spend thousands blackening their armor and get a fiery sword, I'll spend far less than that and actually look different, cause that is what matters in the end.
Really it comes down to a few points which I believe factor in on the weapons for people who are much more for looking for their place :
Axes have a wow factor of being able to deal some very solid strikes, especially with high end adrenaline, and many people fumble when such things happen, like using Penetrating Blow to strike at a Warrior, or Executioners Strike at a Caster.
Swords generally deal out more consistent damage, having a smaller split and alot of slightly lessened adrenaline abilities, plus quite a few energy using abilities from what I remember of the general builds.
Hammers are really a harasser's weapon, combined with Stonefist Gauntlets, this can be especially annoying with Earthshaker, Bellysmasher, Mighty Blow, and so on, to knock foes down, blind them, and weaken em. Basically, it is the team warrior's weapon, though a few people take it far enough like that.
A few may disagree with me, but, I think that is the general most effective use of them, there is of course small abilities within each, such as Cyclone Axe when nearby alot of foes for some great adrenaline build (small energy use too), or Deadly Riposte with a sword to help stop enemy warriors dead.

several reasons I imagine,
first dragon swords are more common than the shadow weapons(not sure if really true but seems that way in my farming), and everyone has to have a glowy of some sort
second and more important the sword line uses a mix of adrenal, and energy based attacks. Allowing the warrior to alternate how he attacks allowing him to attack stronger for longer periods of time. Axe and Hammer are both more based on adrenal attacks lowering the output potential.

During the betas I just tested each out and figured axe was for me. Yup, guess I'm one in the minority but it just, for lack of better words, is my weapon of choice. Hammer and sword would be fun and I'll try it down the road sometime but axe is where I'm at for a long time yet. Especially after the dead Hill Giant's generous offer/gift, after he died of course, in Sanctum Cay that landed me a very powerful *gold* axe. To it I have customized it and am planning on adding Major Rune of Axe Mastery to it too.
Just like any other player and their toon, it all comes down to preference and what seems to work best for that person. Personally, I don't think sword is better than axe or hammer... they all have their differences and are all great in their own way.

I use hammer because I have the gamestop warpick.
If I did not have that I would use sword and shield.
Why? I do half the damage it seems against people with a good shield, and thats only when I hit them through there "Block block block"
That and sword seems faster.
