help with chaos axe and offhand

Hi all,

Trying out a twist on an illusionary weaponry me/w build, and have a pair of questions.

1) Chaos axe dying. I've used the charts and posts here, as well as at guildwiki, and I've also asked people online. Still not happy with things. I want either white, silver, or black. No tint, no faint color (like the pinkish you get when you use silver dye).... just pure silver, black, or white. Can anyone give a suggestion? Screenshots would be awesome, too!

2) Offhand item. My char's always have had bows, staves, or shields to occupy hands with. What should I look for in an offhand item for this mesmer IW build (16 illusion, 13 domination)?

i dont think you can get pure black/silver/white color for chaos.

I use the pre-nerf rockmolder as my IW offhand, sometimes IW is finished with the cooldown before it even wears off.

Hi you cant make silver or black chaos axes, but you can have pure white use black dye on the chaos axe for that. My Iw mezz uses a purple chaos axe whick is pretty cool since the whole mezz thing /line what have you is purple

No silver or black? Well, that's a dissapointment. Anyone got a screenie of a pure white one (black dye). I just don't have the money to waste to see if I like it or not.

Rockmoler is a good idea. I can't afford a pre-nerf one, I assume, but the current isn't bad either. But skills are the way to go, instead of more energy or life (even though I'm in melee range)???

kinda hard to see. But here is a pick of a black dyed chaos axe. It has a slight orange tinge around it..

Using a white dye actually mkaes your chaos look more white then a black dye. It seems that way to me and I have one dyed silver and one dyed black.

YA.. i have one dyed black and one dyed silver. but in essence neither is more white than the other. The differences are subtle.

The black dyed one has a slight orange tinge around the edges, and the core is pure white. The outer lines also look "cleaner" or more clearcut outline of an axe.

The silver dyed one has a slight purple tinge to its edges, and the core is pure white. However, the outer lines are less "clean", or seem to be fuzzy. This makes the axe seem more like it's glowing...

I am a chaos axe nut, i collect em and make em all unique. Currently i have about 12... 3 of em are 15^50. 6 of em are between 14^50 and 12^50. and 3 of em are just max dmg no dmg mods... So ya, i been playing around trying to customize their looks and mods...

Which reminds me... WHY oh WHY hasnt anyone tried dying them with color mixes? i havent seen or heard of any one trying to make dye combinations for their Chaos Axes!! now THAT's what ima do tonight... i hope it works out...

well, if those are the "white" options and silver and black aren't possible, I'm now thinking I want to make it as glaring as possible. I'm thinking along the lines of a nice rich red or orange (any suggestions and screenshots??)... something to stand out.

And Lyra, just picked up a new version of the rockmolder.... not as nice, but still really solid.

Hi I have my chaos axe dyed with purple dye which gives it a nice golden glow to it.

I have used black +blue +black on my chaos axe and I have found the more black dyes you add the the less glow but more defined the axe looks. Then I used silver +blue +silver which gave me about the exact same color but the axe looked as if it was glowing more, or it had less definate lines. Dosen't really matter what dye combos you use the axe tends to stick with the colors of what the original base colors are. If your dye combo has more redish color in it it will turn blue and if you dye combo has more blueish color it will turn the axe red and so forth.
